For generations, local families have celebrated the holidays surrounded by our evergreen traditions. This year, we’re adding something special — a festive logging camp weaving the tales of Paul and Babe into our Christmastown story.

It may be an unlikely trio, but this year we’re proud to honor our timber roots and our icons — Paul and Babe. During the holidays, our Beauchamp Santa celebrates Mason County’s history as the nation’s leading producer of Christmas trees in the mid 1900s, when firs from our forests were shipped across the country by rail. Today, Shelton — AKA Christmastown, USA — and nearby communities keep that tradition alive with music, plays, caroling, parades, events, and festive gatherings all season long.
Each year Kristmas Town Kiwanis and Shelton Downtown Merchants present HOLIDAY MAGIC on the first weekend in December.
Start the afternoon with a free holiday movie at Shelton Cinema, then head over to Railroad Ave for the tree lighting. Santa and Mrs Claus will join the festivities with caroling and lights! Stick around for Santa visits and a holiday street party on Railroad Avenue with marshmallow roasting fire pits and kiddie train rides.
Saturday, enjoy music, interactive radio skits, vendors and holiday workshops all day at Paul & Babe’s Camp Grisdale. At dusk, follow Paul to to Railroad for the famous Santa Claus Parade!
A nod to our forestry roots, join the community each weekend gathering under a snowy blanket in this replica holiday logging camp! Enjoy, food, live music, crafting, workshops and visits with Santa as families explore the lighted Guinness Tribute Christmas forest surrounding the camp.
Historically dubbed “Christmas Tree Capital,” and celebrating this distinction with the 2019 win of a Guinness World Record for “Most Lit Christmas Trees, annually the community pays tribute with a smaller version that is the perfect evening shareable moment!
Reserve an outdoor traditional Douglas Fir tree and decorate with a business, family or memorial message. Tree sites available in Shelton & Hoodsport.
