Karen Andreas has dedicated her career to the betterment of the North Shore — as a journalist, media publisher and, since January 2021, as president and CEO of the North Shore Chamber. Leading the Chamber has been a natural fit for Karen, who had been a longtime member and past chairman of its Board of Directors. A cum laude graduate of the University of New Hampshire, Karen came to The Chamber from North of Boston Media Group, where she led the region’s

Cheryl Begin joined The Chamber in February 2021 after more than two decades in the media advertising sales field. She worked for 17 years in the advertising departments of North of Boston Media Group’s newspapers, including The Eagle-Tribune, The Salem News, the Gloucester Daily Times and the Daily News of Newburyport. A graduate of Salem State University, Cheryl has proven success in helping business owners market their companies to keep their brand messages front-and-center in the community. She is skilled at designing customized packages tailored to each member’s individual goals and objectives, incorporating a mix of advertising, sponsorships and client outreach.

Robyn Pregent oversees all day-to-day operations of The Chamber, including financials, budgets, insurance and benefits. She also manages The Chamber’s membership software and general office operations.

She is happy to assist members with any issues related to their accounts, renewals, event registrations or general inquiries. Robyn is a graduate of Salem State College and most recently operated Pregent Books, offering bookkeeping services to a variety of small businesses on the North Shore.

In her role, Karen serves on numerous committees, including MassHire North Shore Workforce Board; the state Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund Commission; the Massachusetts Business Coalition on Skills; the Advisory Board of Salem State University’s Bertolon School of Business; the Board of Trustees of Essex National Heritage Commission; The Salem Partnership; and the Foundation Board of Northern Essex Community College.

Sonya Vartabedian joined The Chamber in March 2021 after a more than 30-year career in community journalism as a reporter, news editor and managing editor of magazines, features and special projects for North of Boston Media Group. A graduate of Northeastern University, Sonya previously served for four years on the Board of Directors of the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce. As The Chamber’s communications director, Sonya is focused on promoting the business community on the North Shore through The Chamber’s website and social media platforms; in its quarterly business magazine, called Impact; and to the region’s media outlets.

She stands ready to assist

members with news releases and marketing efforts, while also working to keep members informed of important developments in the business arena.
