FOREWORD

As the horizon takes on the cooler hues of fall, we look ahead to a season shaped by opportunity, discovery, and the enduring appeal of life on the water. At Northrop & Johnson, we are ready to navigate what’s next – charting new courses, new vessels, and new experiences for our discerning clientele. For us, fall is when the real momentum begins: show season takes center stage on the yachting calendar, while elsewhere, our charter teams are in full stride as they prepare for the holidays – Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s escapes.

In this annual Brokerage Issue of Navigator, we delve deep into the three iconic fall shows – Cannes, Monaco, and Fort Lauderdale – with insider insights from those who run the events. We spotlight the spectacular return of STARFIRE, the 240’ (73m) Lürssen that’s just completed a transformational refit, and take a look at what’s new in the world of next-gen water toys.

Our Cruising Guide explores the bluest waters worth plotting on your next itinerary, while our tailored look at Bermuda uncovers what makes this storied island a must-visit destination for the waterborne. And for those moments ashore, we share a curated selection of hotel suites where the views are every bit as captivating as the design within.

Wherever fall finds you – on deck, docked, or dreaming – I hope these pages stoke some wanderlust and inspire you to celebrate the lifestyle we all love.

Navigator Knows

Each fall, the superyacht industry turns its attention to three of the world’s most prestigious yachting events: the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Monaco Yacht Show, and the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. Together, they highlight the pinnacle of design, innovation, and luxury on the water. Navigator explores what makes each show unique, and why they remain essential for industry professionals and enthusiasts alike.

THE EXPERTS

Sylvie Ernoult

Sylvie Ernoult has directed the Cannes Yachting Festival since 2013; she brings over 40 years of experience in maritime, yachting, and hospitality. Under her leadership, Cannes has grown into a leading in-water boat show that balances tradition with innovation.

Gaëlle Tallarida

Managing Director of the Monaco Yacht Show, Gaëlle Tallarida has shaped the event into a premier global superyacht showcase renowned for its focus on innovation and sustainability.

Andrew Doole

President of the U.S. boat shows for Informa Markets, Andrew Doole manages major events, including the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, and brings nearly four decades of marine industry expertise.

Show Highlights

What are the key highlights of this year’s show?

Sylvie The 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival will be a comprehensive showcase of the latest in yachting, combining tradition and innovation across Cannes’ Vieux Port and Port Canto. Visitors can explore a wide range of vessels alongside equipment manufacturers and service providers. This year’s edition places a strong focus on sustainability and innovation, with the Innovation Route spotlighting eco-conscious technologies and forward-thinking industry solutions.

Gaëlle The Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) offers a high-value experience for serious buyers and future yacht owners, featuring around 120 superyachts – many making their world debut – and 60 luxury tenders. Key highlights include the Blue Wake program for sustainable solutions, the Yacht Design & Innovation Hub, and the Adventure Area, while the Monaco Yacht Summit provides curated talks to educate clients on ownership, design, and market trends – all aimed at helping clients gain clarity and confidence in their yachting journey.

Andrew The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) remains the world’s largest in-water boat show, spanning seven sites across the city and showcasing a wide range of vessels, marine innovations, and luxury lifestyle exhibits. Highlights include the popular Superyacht Village, global product debuts, and immersive on-site experiences. A major addition to this year’s event is the U.S. debut of the Superyacht Life Foundation’s Honours Awards, which will recognize three outstanding individuals making meaningful contributions beyond the marine world, with winners announced at a special ceremony on October 28th.

What are your key goals for this year’s edition?

Sylvie To maintain Cannes’ excellence in the international showcasing of sailing vessels, to enhance visitor experience, and to support stakeholders – particularly in sustainability and innovation.

Gaëlle The MYS remains committed to providing a seamless, high-level experience tailored to yacht clients, with a clear focus on design, innovation, and sustainability. Our aim is simple: to ensure every visit is purposeful, productive, and aligned with client expectations.

Andrew We aim to offer an experience that is both impactful for the industry and memorable for attendees. That includes supporting our exhibitors through buyer engagement, enhancing international attendance, and continuing to refine logistics and guest services across all show sites.

How many yachts are exhibiting at this year’s show?

Sylvie The 2025 Cannes Yachting Festival will feature over 140 world premieres, with a strong emphasis on ecoresponsibility and innovative design.

Gaëlle Visitors to the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show will discover a diverse showcase of around 120 superyachts, nearly half world debuts, making the show a key destination for discovering the latest launches.

Andrew FLIBS will feature a wide range of vessels, with multiple world debuts. Visitors will see a growing presence of vessels focused on advanced propulsion, sustainability, and intelligent onboard systems. From fully electric dayboats to large yachts with hybrid capabilities, FLIBS highlights how design and function are evolving to meet the demands of modern ownership.

What new experiences can visitors expect in 2025?

Sylvie The 2025 edition introduces key improvements to enhance the visitor experience, including optimized entrances at Vieux Port and Port Canto, and an upgraded sea shuttle service. Port Canto’s Power Boat Marina is expanding while the Innovation Route returns with a stronger focus on eco-design and sustainable technologies.

Gaëlle This year, the Monaco Yacht Show presents Tribute to Yachting, a curated exhibition of 90 photographs by renowned photographer Guillaume Plisson. The show opens with the MYS Grand Opening Night, featuring the Blue Wake Awards, which honor achievements in sustainability.

Andrew This year, FLIBS continues to expand its global reach and experiential offerings. With a large focus on showcasing world and U.S. debuts, the show offers fresh activations, hospitality upgrades, and a wide range of lifestyle integrations. Across all sites, guests can expect new culinary options, immersive tech exhibits, and enhancements that align with the show’s evolution as a premier marine destination.

USPs

What sets your show apart from other renowned international shows?

Sylvie Cannes’ stunning Côte d’Azur setting offers a glamorous atmosphere. As Europe’s largest in-water boat show, Cannes features a diverse showcase of over 700 vessels, ranging from compact day boats to superyachts, both sail and motor. With over 600 exhibitors and 55,000 international visitors, Cannes remains a prestigious, accessible, and forward-looking event on the global yachting calendar.

Gaëlle The Monaco Yacht Show’s exclusivity, with nearly half the yachts as new builds, offers yacht clients focused access to the world’s top superyachts and tenders conveniently gathered in one place over four days. Set in the heart of Monaco, the show combines high-end life experiences with direct connections to key industry players, supported by thematic zones and VIP services.

Andrew Spanning seven connected waterfront sites in Fort Lauderdale, it offers unmatched scale, showcasing vessels in their natural environment with a blend of business and lifestyle appeal. Its unique mix of indoor-outdoor spaces, global brands, and South Florida atmosphere sets it apart from all other fall shows.

What’s a behind-the-scenes aspect of the show that most visitors don’t realize?

Sylvie The Cannes Yachting Festival requires increasingly complex logistics – especially with ongoing work at the Vieux Port – managed through precise coordination. Likened to a game of Tetris, a two-month setup and breakdown process ensures the smooth placement of 700 boats and 650 exhibitors.

Gaëlle Few visitors realize the immense logistics behind the Monaco Yacht Show, which transforms one of the world’s smallest countries into a world-class event through months

of coordination with port authorities and city services. Over 180 yachts, 400 stands, and 560 exhibitors are precisely managed to ensure smooth access for nearly 29,000 guests.

Andrew Producing a show of this scale requires months of meticulous planning – from building floating docks to managing security and infrastructure – creating a city within a city. Beyond the logistics, the show delivers a major economic impact, generating $1.7 billion overall in 2024, with $823.5 million in marine product sales, and $694.5 million earned by Florida-based companies. Visitor and exhibitor spending also infused $54.2 million into the local economy, including $13.5 million in hotel lodging.

In what specific ways do you tailor the show to appeal to such a wide-ranging and diverse international audience?

Sylvie By segmenting the exhibition by boat type and interest, the show ensures a clear and immersive experience for all. It also adapts to evolving market trends, incorporating charter and shared ownership options, while its globally diverse exhibitor base guarantees a broad and appealing range of offerings.

Gaëlle The Monaco Yacht Show unites a global audience and exhibitors, creating a diverse and international environment. Dedicated exhibition zones allow attendees to focus on specific interests such as design, tenders, or technology, making the event feel tailored to each individual’s style and preferences.

Andrew We curate programming and marketing to reflect the wide range of attendees FLIBS attracts, including seasoned yacht owners, first-time buyers, and global industry leaders. Each show site offers a different experience. Our goal is to ensure there is something for everyone, regardless of where they are in their boating journey.

What role does the location play in shaping the visitor experience?

Sylvie The iconic setting of the show, nestled between the historic harbor and the famed Croisette, not only offers full immersion into the nautical world but also adds a unique blend of prestige and comfort to the exhibition.

Gaëlle Monaco’s elegance, exclusivity and international appeal create the perfect setting. The Principality surrounds the show with world-class hotels, fine dining, luxury shopping, and cultural highlights, all within a secure and walkable setting. Clients move easily between business meetings, yacht visits, and moments of leisure, making their time at the show both productive and enjoyable.

Andrew Fort Lauderdale plays a key role in shaping the identity of the show. It is one of the world’s most active marine hubs, home to top shipyards, brokers, and service providers. The setting offers convenient access for international travelers, beautiful waterways, and a built-in yachting culture.

Focus & Strategy

How has the show evolved since you first became involved?

Sylvie Since my arrival, I have witnessed the show’s international expansion, driven by a balance of loyal exhibitors and new participants, along with constant space optimization on land and water. Key developments, including the Sailing area and the Power Boat Marina, have significantly enhanced the exhibition’s offering.

Gaëlle When I joined, the show was a respected regional event with around fifty exhibitors and yachts, and a small organizing team of three. I played a key role in shaping the show’s development strategy during its early stages. Since then, it has evolved into the world’s leading superyacht show, showcasing cutting-edge design, technology, and sustainable innovation.

Andrew FLIBS has evolved into a year-round effort involving hundreds of partners, a growing digital presence, and an international reputation. It has expanded in footprint, attendance, and influence. What began as a regional boat show has become a global event.

Has there been an increase in attendance from certain markets in recent years?

Sylvie The Cannes Yachting Festival is increasingly international, with 61 percent of visitors now coming from over 120 countries. While traditional European markets remain strong, growing interest from emerging markets highlights the show’s expanding global appeal.

Gaëlle The Monaco Yacht Show is a truly international event, attracting visitors from all continents, with strong attendance from the U.S. and Europe. It has also seen steady growth in interest from emerging markets, especially the Middle East.

Andrew FLIBS consistently attracts a diverse global audience. Engagement from the U.S. remains strong, while regions like Europe and Latin America are steady.

Sustainability is a key theme across the industry. How are you promoting green innovation among exhibitors and participants?

Sylvie We have introduced several sustainable initiatives, including the Innovation Route, which showcases advances in eco-friendly motorization, materials, design, and waste management. Exhibitors are encouraged to adopt sustainable practices, and the show partners with GreenBee Event Upcycling to boost environmental performance.

Gaëlle Sustainability has been a core focus at MYS for years. Launched in 2025, the Blue Wake program aims to highlight exhibitors offering viable, forward-thinking sustainable solutions, approved by MYS partner Water Revolution Foundation.

Andrew Sustainability is a central focus at FLIBS and across Informa Markets, guided by the Faster to Zero initiative, which reflects our commitment to becoming a zero-waste and net-zero carbon business by 2030. Efforts include paperless ticketing, energy-efficient lighting, waste reduction, and increased recycling. In partnership with the Marine Research Hub, FLIBS supports the Innovation & Sustainability award, recognizing companies advancing marine ecosystem protection and driving industry progress toward broader sustainability goals.

How do you see the show evolving over the next decade?

Sylvie Over the next decade, Cannes will evolve with enhanced port infrastructure and high-quality content focused on visitor satisfaction. It will support the nautical industry’s green transition and embrace digital innovations like AI to better serve exhibitors and visitors.

Gaëlle Over the next decade, I believe the MYS will deepen its role as the leading platform where yacht clients will explore the world’s finest vessels and also engage with ideas, technologies, and trends shaping tomorrow’s yachting experience.

Andrew FLIBS will continue to grow as a global platform that connects innovation, lifestyle, and commerce. Expect greater world debuts, stronger digital integration, and continued investment in guest experience and sustainability.

What is your proudest moment organizing the show?

Sylvie During my thirteen years leading the Cannes Yachting Festival, projects like the Sailing area and Power Boat Marina initially faced resistance from some exhibitors. However, through strong teamwork, we have turned these spaces into major successes. Embracing innovation and pushing comfort zones allowed us to grow the festival and shake up traditional expectations, proving that with dedication, even the biggest challenges – like moving yachts – can be achieved.

Gaëlle The most rewarding aspect of the Monaco Yacht Show is witnessing it evolve into a vibrant international marketplace with its own unique rhythm and atmosphere. Over the event’s few days, visitors arrive with clear goals – whether to explore yachts, meet brokers, or connect with peers – and the show provides a natural platform for these meaningful interactions. Seeing genuine conversations, decisions, and emotions unfold is the true measure of success, making all the preparation and effort worthwhile each year.

Andrew Every year brings something new to be proud of, but what stands out most is the long-term growth and loyalty from our partners, exhibitors, and attendees. Seeing families return year after year, hearing from businesses that made their biggest sales here, or watching a first-time visitor fall in love with the boating lifestyle is what makes all the work worthwhile.

Off the Deck – SeaDriveCX

This one’s a curveball – in the best way. SeaDriveCX is a portable marine golf simulator that lets you tee off from your yacht (or estate dock) using real swings and biodegradable balls. The simulator is surprisingly lightweight and 100 percent accurate, and the custom hitting mats are a nice touch. It’s one of those toys that turns into a social event, and it’s been a conversation piece every time I’ve seen it in use.

03

Fliteboard

Fliteboard continues to elevate what’s already one of the most refined eFoil experiences out there. The ULTRA L2 is the company’s lightest board yet, engineered for speed and agility with a carbon innegra body, and paired with the choice of the Sport or compact Nano battery, depending on how long and hard you want to ride. For extended sessions, the Flitecell Explore delivers up to 2.5 hours of ride time. The controller is intuitive, and the Flite App integration adds a nice touch of tech. With fully customizable components – mast lengths, wing styles, and more –it suits both learners and pros.

04

LIND Electric Surfboards

LIND boards look like they belong in a gallery as much as they do on the water. The design is clean and eye-catching, and, thankfully, they perform just as well as they present. Lightweight, balanced, and electric-powered, they’re perfect for owners who care equally for aesthetics and innovation.

Fossil Fuel Free Sailing Yacht Navigator’s Fall 2024 introduced readers to the revolutionary sailing yacht PROJECT ZERO. One year on, the world’s first sailing superyacht designed to operate entirely without fossil fuels is nearing completion. The result of a pioneering collaboration between Dutch design studio Vripack, Vitters Shipyard, and Dykstra Naval Architects, ZERO is set to launch by the end of 2025. Measuring nearly 230’ (70m), PROJECT ZERO is the product of over 60,000 hours of R&D aimed at eliminating fossil fuel dependency while retaining the comfort, performance, and luxury of a traditional superyacht. The yacht runs exclusively on renewable wind, solar, and thermal energy. A five-megawatt-hour battery system powers all onboard systems, from propulsion to hotel load. Hydrogenerating thrusters harvest energy under sail, while a 1,000-square-foot solar array and wind turbine ensure full energy independence. All system data and designs will be made freely available through FoundationZero.org to encourage broader adoption of sustainable marine technologies.

“This project has always been about showing what’s possible,” says Vripack co-creative director Marnix Hoekstra.

“Our goal wasn’t just to prove viability, but to create a model others can learn from.” In addition to private use and select charters, ZERO will support scientific research on renewable technologies and ocean conservation.

Following her technical launch, the yacht will undergo sea trials ahead of her 2026 delivery – a major milestone for sustainably focused marine technologies. foundationzero.org

Rooted in shared values of sustainability, exclusivity, and immersive discovery, the alliance opens new horizons while preserving the uncompromising standards of refined exploration. us.ponant.com

H2 Yacht Design

Driving innovation from London to the Côte d’Azur, H2 Yacht Design has officially opened its second studio in Nice – marking a strategic move that reflects both market demand and the brand’s growing global footprint. Recognizing a shift in the superyacht market, with a greater emphasis on the quality of yachts rather than the quantity, H2 Yacht Design is focusing on refinement. “When H2 Yacht Design was founded, we were focused on 196’ (60m) yachts,” says Creative Director Jonny Horsfield. “Now, we’re designing yachts over 100 meters in size. It’s a natural evolution.” H2 continues to set the pace for a market that is seeing a continuous demand for bigger projects, including recent standouts like the 600’ (194.9m) REV and the 285’ (87m) VENTO. h2yachtdesign.com

Verge Yacht Design

WORDS ANITA RIVERA TURCOTTE, FOUNDER

The yachts that stay with you aren’t always the loudest. They have presence. Thoughtful, sculptural, purposeful—and above all, nautical. Where a seam, a surface, or a shift in lighting tells you everything about the people who shaped it. That’s where design is going: away from spectacle, toward something more lasting.

At Verge, we design from that edge – where beauty meets precision, and aesthetics aren’t decoration, they’re direction.

We bring bold ideas to the table, but we’re just as focused on making them work. From layout studies and custom furniture to lighting, visualization, and build oversight, our team leads with creativity and delivers with clarity. We work directly with shipyards, brokers, captains, and fabricators to move each project forward with purpose.

Right now, we’re working on both new builds and refits – helping clients rethink their space and explore what’s possible. Whether it’s a full transformation or a focused upgrade, our goal is the same: to make every space smarter, more intentional, and undeniably beautiful.

Some recent standouts include:

• A stingray leather alternative made from reclaimed stone & metal

• Corn-based leathers designed for exterior use

• Stone-inspired fabrics that offer softness with strength

• Low maintenance, rich textured sculptural wood alternatives

• Floating millwork, curved forms, and integrated lighting that give structure a sense of lift

These aren’t just material choices—they’re design decisions that shape how time is experienced onboard. Clients want more than styling; they want depth, tone and longevity. They’re asking thoughtful questions about function and flow, about how a space supports the way they live at sea. That’s where we do our best work.

At Verge, we don’t just design what’s next—we help build it. Design with purpose. Build with clarity. Create with vision. It’s what yachts that stay with you demand.

Frieze London & Frieze Masters

Regent’s Park, London

October 15 -19, 2025

The art world juggernaut that is the Frieze organization counts this October fair as its hallmark art event in the British capital. With the curation of new Frieze Masters director Emanuela Tarizzo, a former London gallery director and independent art advisor, expectations are running high, as always, for the exhibits from 280-plus galleries representing some 45 countries for this year. The public art sector, Frieze Sculpture, runs concurrently with both exhibitions. This year, the Frieze London portion of the happening gathers some 58 prominent London galleries under the umbrella of over 160 venues to bring a bit of locality that points to the city’s cultural landscape and burgeoning prominence in the contemporary art world. Expect popular activations like the artist-led Artist- to-Artist section that pulls focus to a half-dozen solo presentations; the Focus sector that fosters young gallerists and artists; and the accessible Editions sector for newer collectors and fans to make a resounding reappearance this year. Meanwhile, Frieze Masters draws from six millennia of art for its broader palette (which also includes rare antiquities). Over 120 galleries from 26 countries comprise the content for this far-reaching show. frieze.com/fairs/frieze-london-frieze-masters

Happening right on the heels of Frieze London, Art Basel

Paris presents a close-quarters opportunity for a potent one-two art world punch that many collectors take advantage of. Originally dubbed Paris+ par Art Basel, the show thrived in its first year at the iconic Grand Palais in Paris, and for this sophomore year at the location, the importance of this show is now fully recognized. Produced in three artful sectors: Galeries (for the show’s core exhibitors), Emergence (dedicated to new galleries and artists), and Premise (which spotlights an exceptional singular curation), over 203 galleries from over 40 countries will find a flock of fans waiting for them in the City of Light. One highlight not to miss is the staging of the Oh La La! initiative, which encourages creative and thought-provoking re-hangings of exhibited works on the last Friday and Saturday of the show. artbasel.com/paris

FOR WATER’S SAKE

Luxury watchmakers are making waves in ocean conservation – particularly through their dive and yachting collections. Navigator’s Mike Espindle explores the leaders driving change.

Breitling

Superocean Heritage

B31 Automatic 40 Kelly Slater Nobody, but nobody, cares more about the health of the oceans than surfers. Champion board-rider Kelly Slater is a Breitling spokesperson, and this connection just makes the watchmaker’s dedication to conservation that much more profound. The new limited edition Superocean, approved by the GOAT of surfing, of course, is infused with design cues that honor his Hawaiian home (and the state’s impeccable surfing and environmental heritage). The deep blue dial carries a subtle tropical floral motif, while the lumed broad hour hand arrow, contoured minute hand, lollipop seconds hand, and simplified indexes and gauging add a distinct vintage vibe to this 40mm steel watch. While Breitling prefers to refer to the Superocean line as a “water” watch, the COSCcertified manufacture B31 movement carries 78 hours of power supply and can handle depths of up to 200 meters. Breitling proudly sponsors the one-million-member-strong, surfer-founded Surfrider Foundation, which is dedicated to a multi-faceted mission to keep oceans clean and rideable: from eliminating plastic refuse to preserving fragile ecosystems, advocating for universal beach access, and more. breitling.com

Ulysse Nardin

Diver Air

As the Swiss watchmaker’s story started with a reputation for making incredibly accurate maritime chronometers during the Golden Age of ocean navigation, Ulysse Nardin is all-in on helping sea conservation efforts. It is a partner with Ocean Odyssey, an organization that aims to reduce plastic pollution in our planet’s waterways, and supports the non-profit, scientific Ocearch research group working to conserve dwindling global shark populations, as well as other water-related activations. But in terms of the ultimate expression of those efforts, this new Ulysses Nardin Diver Air watch, which debuted at this year’s Watches and Wonders show, sets the bar high (or rather, deep). At 52 grams, it is the lightest mechanical dive-ready watch ever created. A new UN-374 titanium movement has undergone some extensive skeletonization to not only reduce the amount of metal used, but also cut additional weight. A combination of recycled titanium and carbon (from up-cycling racing boat materials) makes the 44mm case equally feathery. The ability to withstand 5,000 grams of impact, 200 meters of water resistance, and a beefy 90-hour power reserve make this a seriously impressive wrist companion under the waters, on a minimalist elasticized white or orange fabric strap.

ulysse-nardin.com

Blancpain

Fifty Fathoms 5007

Any experienced diver will recognize Blancpain’s Fifty Fathoms timepiece as one of the most cherished, stylish, and pro-quality dive watches on the market, ever since its auspicious debut as one of the world’s first true diver watches in 1953. For this year, the watchmaker shakes things up a bit with this first-ever smaller 38mm case version. Also offered in a more genderless black-and-18K red gold execution, this bright pink option with a titanium case and lovely mother-of-pearl dial doesn’t give up a lot of serious diving chops to the gleaming beauty. Based on the rugged Blancpain Manufacture 1153 movement with a whopping 100-hour power supply, 300 meters of water resistance, and an appropriate sail cloth or NATO fabric strap (or optional titanium bracelet), this “pink lady” can do everything a Fifty Fathoms for the boys can do, and then some. Backing up the watchmaker’s long-time dedication to diving, its Ocean Commitment program is one of the industry’s deepest. From supporting important scientific undersea expeditions (one of which rediscovered the coelacanth “Dinosaur Fish” in Indonesia that was once considered extinct) to partnering on the Blancpain x Sulubaai Marine Research Center in the Philippines’ Palawan archipelago, there is no shortage of ocean concern here. blancpain.com

STATE OF GRACE

Fantastic sports cars, tough SUVs, and adventure vehicles…they all have a place in your garage. But there is always something – in fact, more than something – to be said about a stately luxury sedan, even in today’s modern age of future shock. All of these exquisite models are certainly chauffeur-able, but why let someone else have all the fun?

01

2026 Jaguar XJ

While the British automaker has underplayed its iconic sedan of late, this new model of Jaguar’s classic flagship is expected to arrive in a disruptive all-new, all-electric package based on the company’s Type 00 experimental prototype. Production will reportedly commence in the second half of the year, and details are still thin on the ground. It is even up in the air if this new model will ultimately be called an XJ, but it will certainly fill that role in the carmaker’s stable. The looks of the final product may cause some controversy (the pictures here are of the Type 00 two-door prototype), as the overall approach is new, modern, and technical, but early sneak peeks have evidenced some more classic XJ design cues that might soften the Type 00’s appearance. That said, it promises to give Jaguar’s signature comfort and luxury along with its new – likely distinctive – good looks and cuttingedge power source. Performance over the existing XJ is expected to be enhanced by the addition of all-wheel drive as the electric motor architecture places power at both the front and rear of the car. If everything goes according to plan, you can expect an impressive range of 478 miles and, reportedly, ultra-fast charging will be supported. Along with the new engine technology, the notoriously luxurious XJ interior will (in all likelihood) receive a significant technical redux, becoming a showcase of innovation, with high-resolution digital instrument clusters, a user-friendly infotainment system, and intuitively placed controls. The debut will represent a watershed moment in luxury EVs.

2025 Mercedes-Maybach

S 680 4MATIC

This year’s Mercedes-Maybach S 680 4MATIC stands as an exquisite testament to old-school fueled motoring. Powered by a hand-built 6-liter V12 biturbo power plant paired with a lightning-quick nine-speed 9G-Tronic transmission, the 621 horses (provided to all four wheels in this 4MATIC execution) give you a 4.5-second 0 to 60 mph giddy-up behind 664 pound-feet of torque at 2,000 to 4,000 rpm. Thrilling performance aside, you can expect superb five- or optional fourpassenger comfort and luxurious amenities, including a Mercedes staple – heated and ventilated 12-way power front seats with massage, contouring, and memory functions; expansive rear seats get similar executive options (even the arm rests are heated). Interior LED ambient lighting is programmable from relaxation to active modes, and the front of the cabin features energizing kinetic haptic “shakes” to keep you engaged and alert behind the wheel. And that’s only the start of the luxury options list. mbusa.com

BMW 7 Series i7 M70

While BMW’s flagship sedan is available in a raft of powering options and executions, the 2025 i7 M70, with that tell-tale “M” performance classification, offers a fully-electrified luxury sedan with punch. Dual high-performance electric motors produce 650hp and a superb 749 footpounds of blistering torque. Top speed is rated at 130 mph, with a neck-snapping 0 to 60 mph time of just 3.5 seconds. Range is a respectable 285 miles for a beast that provides this level of performance (as well as full-time xDrive all-wheel drive). With an optional two-tone exterior paint execution, this car makes a statement even when it’s standing still. An uncannily luxurious interior, however, tames the beast. Expect all of the finishing, leather, and touchpoint options you’d expect from the carmaker, along with the latest BMW enhancement technologies like an illuminated grille, parking assist, 360-degree camera views, and Panoramic Sky Lounge LED Roof, to name just a few. bmwusa.com

WORDS MIRIAM

Just moments from Port Hercules, perched dramatically on the cliffs above Roquebrune-CapMartin, The Maybourne Riviera has fast become a destination in its own right for those cruising the Côte d’Azur. This summer, the modernist retreat unveiled the results of a six-month refinement –most notably the arrival of abc kitchens riviera by Jean-Georges Vongerichten on its top floor.

A Mediterranean interpretation of his globally acclaimed New York and London concepts, abc kitchens riviera is elevated by Riviera terroir: sun-ripened produce, freshly caught seafood, and panoramic views that sweep from Italy to Monte Carlo. Step ashore for a leisurely lunch of yellowtail crudo, roasted octopus, and chilled rosé. Spend a few hours relaxing at La Môme Riviera and then, as golden hour descends, settle in at Le 300 bar with a Negroni as the sun sets behind Tête de Chien. In the evening, dine at the Riviera Restaurant, where the menu celebrates refined simplicity – perhaps roasted langoustine with fennel or grilled local seabass with citrus glaze – while the Principality sparkles and the yachts glow in the bay below.

Adriatic, Reimagined

Cruising with PONANT EXPLORATIONS

There’s something about Croatia’s coast that feels inevitable. The way the light hits the stone walls of Dubrovnik at golden hour, how the wind seems to carry the stories between the islands of Hvar, Korčula and Vis. This isn’t a coastline built for rushing, and that’s precisely what makes it so well-suited to PONANT EXPLORATIONS’ travel style.

Aboard PONANT EXPLORATIONS’ elegant, yacht-like vessels, the Adriatic unfolds: quietly, slowly, with ease. Every detail is thoughtfully considered – from balcony suites with floor-to-ceiling views to the wellness spa, panoramic pool, and fine dining, the atmosphere is refined, chic, and luxurious. And it’s not just about the amenities. PONANT EXPLORATIONS elevate the experience with a purposeful layer of insight. Onboard lecturers trace historic routes as you sail them; marine biologists guide snorkeling excursions in crystalline coves.

On shore, it’s a rich blend of centuries – Roman amphitheatres in Pula, lavender-scented hillsides on Hvar, Cold War submarine caves once used by Tito’s navy, and low-key beach clubs tucked into pine-shaded bays.

While Croatia is undeniably the star, the Adriatic itself is the real thread – weaving the past into the present with a rhythm you can only feel from the water.

Beaches

The tiny archipelago of connected islands that make up Bermuda hosts a dramatically beautiful coastline with a plethora of pretty beaches. The south of the island is known for its stunning pink sand beaches. Collectively known as the South Shore, some of the most popular include Horseshoe Bay Beach, Warwick Long Bay, and Elbow Beach. Attracting locals and visitors to its pink sands, the iconic Horseshoe Bay Beach (01) has recently been recognized in the World’s 50 Best Beaches 2025. If a secluded beach is more to your liking, the near-deserted Jobson’s Cove and Chaplin Bay are tucked away and framed by dramatic limestone cliffs. For a more exclusive experience, the Hamilton Princess Beach Club and the Rosewood Beach Club offer their guests stylish, upscale beach access with all the trimmings –loungers and cabanas, fine dining, and unparalleled service. Over on the northeast end of Bermuda, Tobacco Bay is a favorite for its shallow, clear waters and natural limestone formations, ideal for snorkeling and paddleboarding.

Watersports

When it comes to watersports, Bermuda’s tropical waters combined with a superyacht’s toy box adds a fun dimension for all ages. For some it might be the chance to simply take time out and frolic about swimming, kayaking, jet skiing or jumping off a cliff, while for others it is the opportunity to learn a new skill such as sailing, kite surfing, or scuba diving. For the latter, Bermuda really excels, delivering a world-class underwater experience just minutes from shore. Beneath the crystal-clear turquoise waters lies one of the most extraordinary underwater landscapes in the Atlantic. Over 300 shipwrecks, some dating back centuries, rest just offshore, creating dramatic dive sites of varying depths that teem with marine life. Bermuda’s extensive reef offers both seasoned divers and casual snorkelers access to vibrant coral gardens, underwater caves and grottos, and an array of tropical fish

With its pink sands and underground grottoes, Bermuda knows a thing or two about natural remedies and treatments. Step ashore and indulge in a range of unique spa treatments available at the island’s top spas. Find your Zen with a hot stone massage or yoga in a cool cave at the Grotto Bay Beach Resort & Spa; try a warm bamboo massage at La Serena Spa; have your skin polished at the Hamilton Princess’ Exhale Spa; or enjoy Cedar Warming Massage at Rosewood’s Sense Spa, to name just a few. This dedicated period is the perfect time for visitors, including superyacht guests, to indulge in luxurious spa experiences ashore or to enjoy onboard spa services provided by visiting therapists from leading wellness brands.

Sport

Bermudians have long embraced a lifestyle shaped by sport. Rooted in British traditions, the island’s sporting culture spans cricket, rugby, and tennis – disciplines brought to its shores during colonial times. Nowhere is this heritage more passionately displayed than during the annual Cup Match, held over Emancipation Day and Somers Day – a two-day national holiday introduced after the abolishment of slavery in 1835 which is held every year on the Thursday before the first Monday in August. The highly anticipated Cup Match between rival parishes St. George’s and Somerset has become an important part of Bermuda's culture and signifies a time of reflection, celebration and unity.

Rugby also takes center stage during a number of annual tournaments, including the Bermuda Rugby Classic. Typically held in November, the tournament draws teams for a week of high-paced competition and social events.

But it’s not just about these legacy sports –Bermuda’s year-round, sub-tropical climate and compact geography make it an ideal destination for an active escape. Nowhere is this more evident than on the golf course. Often described as one big fairway, Bermuda is home to seven world-class golf courses, two of which are designated as PGA courses. Whether you’re teeing off against dramatic Atlantic backdrops or playing a round on historic greens, golf is both a national and visitor’s favorite pastime.

On the water, consistent tradewinds make Bermuda ideal for windsurfing, kiteboarding, parasailing, and world-class sailing, attracting both recreational and elite sailors alike. Major international regattas, including the Bermuda Sail GP Grand Prix and Newport Bermuda Race (running since 1906), have cemented the island’s reputation as a competitive sailing hub.

Not surprisingly, fishing is also a popular sport and pastime, attracting anglers from far and wide to participate in renowned events such as the Bermuda Triple Crown Billfish Championship – which includes the Bermuda Billfish Blast, Bermuda Big Game Classic, and Sea Horse Anglers Club Billfish Tournament – as well as the Bermuda Offshore Fishing Tournament and the annual Deep Sea Fishing Classic. These prestigious tournaments also draw the superyacht crowd to Bermuda’s shores, with many owners and guests combining a relaxing yachting vacation with world-class sport fishing.

Things to Do

Culture

Boasting a colorful history, Bermuda is awash with myriad cultural influences. Dive into the islands’ rich heritage in the old capital of St. George’s A designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, its white-washed buildings and original cobblestone streets date back to 1612. Wandering through its narrow lanes is like stepping back in time.

Beyond St. George’s, other historic landmarks include Gibbs Hill Lighthouse, which, dating back to 1846, is one of the oldest cast-iron lighthouses in the world and offers panoramic views of the island. Fort St. Catherine, perched dramatically on the coast, overlooks the very spot where English settlers first shipwrecked in 1609 – an event that helped shape Bermuda’s unique origin story.

Adding vibrant modern flair to its deep-rooted traditions, each June the Bermuda Carnival celebrates Caribbean culture with music, dancing, and masquerade-style parades – a contemporary echo of the island's oldest performance tradition, the Gombeys. These vibrant and deeply symbolic figures are celebrated for their rhythmic dance and colorful pageantry, yet rooted in the painful legacy of slavery and racial oppression.

For an insightful look into the island’s thriving art scene, Long Story Short offers curated tours that highlight Bermuda’s vibrant creative community – guiding visitors to local galleries, colorful street murals, and the work of contemporary Bermudian artists who draw inspiration from the island’s landscapes, culture, and heritage. In Hamilton, the artsy Hamilton Princess & Beach Club showcases a world-class collection of modern and pop art within its walls, making it a living gallery. Just a short walk away, the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art houses an impressive collection of works by artists Winslow Homer and Georgia O’Keeffe, among many other greats, all of whom were inspired by Bermuda’s beauty.

Nature

Bermuda’s plentiful nature reserves and parks make it a naturalist’s haven. Spittal Pond, the largest reserve on the island, offers a glimpse of Bermuda as it once was, while Southlands Park is a 37-acre enclave of parkland, forested trails, and a secluded beach. To learn more about the natural heritage, head to Bermuda Botanical Gardens to explore a wide array of endemic trees and plants, along with the Masterworks Museum nestled within the gardens. For something more subterranean, venture into the Crystal Caves of Bermuda – an Ice Age network of caves and underground lakes 120-feet below ground, adorned with stalactites and stalagmites. One of the best ways to explore Bermuda’s cultural and natural landscapes is by bike. Electric Bike Tours offer a fun, eco-friendly way to discover hidden trails, scenic vistas, and historic landmarks – allowing you to take in the island at your own pace.

Additionally, those exploring Bermuda by water should take in Coopers Island and Nonsuch Island –each featuring protected nature and wildlife reserves that provide serene refuges for Bermuda’s unique flora and fauna. Nonsuch Island is Bermuda’s single most important nature reserve and is home to the Bermuda petrel, a seabird once thought extinct that is today the world’s second rarest seabird. Although access to the island is strictly controlled due to the sensitivity of the habitats and endangered species, boats may anchor offshore to snorkel around the wreck and reefs on the north side of the island. Out on the water, the waterborne also have the chance to whale watch, with migrating humpbacks – and occasionally even blue whales – passing through the island’s deep offshore waters during March and April.

How to Get There

Despite its remote location, Bermuda’s prime mid-Atlantic position is easy to reach – whether you’re flying private or commercial, or coming by yacht. Just 90 minutes from New York and under seven hours from London by air, the island strikes the perfect balance between exotic escape and effortless arrival.

Private Jet

Touch down at L.F. Wade International Airport (BDA). With dedicated FBO services offering customs processing, VIP lounges, and ground handling, the arrival is seamless. NetJets provides a global fleet of midsize and long-range jets for flights from Europe or the U.S., and beyond. netjets.com

Commercial Flights

Bermuda is well connected for international flights, with daily nonstops from the U.S. and direct transatlantic services from Europe.

Cruising

Strategically located in the North Atlantic, just 600 nautical miles off the coast of North Carolina and 1,500 nautical miles from the British Virgin Islands, Bermuda is a key transatlantic waypoint for vessels crossing between Europe, the Caribbean, and the U.S. East Coast. The island’s superyacht facilities are among the best in the region, with the Hamilton Princess Marina for yachts up to 600’ (180m), St. George’s Superyacht Marina Dock with berths for vessels of up to 500’ (150m), and the Royal Naval Dockyard, which provides additional state-of-theart marina services and facilities for yachts up to 110’ (33m). Q&A Captain Benjamin Sanchez

Captain of BLACK LEGEND

Navigator puts the spotlight on Captain Benjamin Sanchez of the 163’8” (49.9m) BLACK LEGEND to find out what it’s like to command such a standout vessel.

BLACK LEGEND has a reputation for turning heads. What’s it like to helm a yacht that draws so much attention?

Indeed, BLACK LEGEND never goes unnoticed. Taking the helm of such a yacht is above all an honor and a tremendous source of pride. That said, it is essential to live up to the image it projects and to maintain the reputation it has built. It is a constant challenge, but also a daily motivation for me.

As the most iconic Mangusta 165E ever built, BLACK LEGEND is known for performance as much as style – how does she handle underway, and what sets her apart from other yachts of her size?

BLACK LEGEND stands out for its impeccable seakeeping, reflecting the full expertise of the Overmarine shipyard. It combines power, maneuverability, and stability with rare precision for a yacht of nearly 50 meters. Thanks to its MTU engines paired with waterjets, it delivers sharp acceleration, great responsiveness, and smooth navigation even at high speeds. What sets BLACK LEGEND apart is the ability to offer sporty performance while maintaining optimal onboard comfort, with remarkably low levels of vibration and noise. It not only impresses visually but also delivers a navigation experience worthy of the most demanding yachts.

You’re showcasing her at the Monaco Yacht Show – what should prospective owners be looking for when they step aboard?

Prospective owners should pay close attention to the yacht’s impeccable condition. BLACK LEGEND has been subject to strict and meticulous maintenance since her inception. The owner has always ensured that all necessary resources are provided to maintain essential systems and auxiliary equipment rigorously. This diligence translates into palpable quality and reliability.

From a captain’s perspective, what elements of her design and layout make your job easier?

BLACK LEGEND stands out with a carefully designed interior layout optimized for onboard operations. The piloting stations are intelligently arranged, offering exceptional ergonomics and immediate access to all navigation and control systems. The design of technical spaces facilitates quick and efficient maintenance, with dedicated access simplifying technical interventions at sea. Moreover, circulation onboard has been designed to streamline crew movements, ensuring optimal coordination and safe management of the yacht even in the most demanding conditions. These features fully contribute to operational excellence and peace of mind in managing the vessel.

The name alone suggests something iconic. How does BLACK LEGEND live up to its name, in your eyes?

The name perfectly reflects the essence and unique character of BLACK LEGEND. It embodies both timeless elegance and remarkable power, qualities that make this vessel a true legend in the world of yachting. Beyond her striking aesthetics, BLACK LEGEND stands out for her technical performance and level of excellence, both in navigation and onboard comfort. Her reputation has also been built through rigorous internal management and a professional, dedicated crew. For me, it is not just a name but a constant commitment to maintain this yacht at the highest level, living up to the expectations and reputation that accompany it.

Finally, any personal favorite spaces aboard?

Undoubtedly the wheelhouse. This space represents, for me, the true nerve center of BLACK LEGEND, where every decision is made with rigor and passion, reinforcing the unique and deeply personal bond I have with this exceptional vessel and its every journey.

BLACK LEGEND is offered for sale at €23,950,000 with EU VAT paid. To arrange a viewing aboard BLACK LEGEND during the Monaco Yacht Show, please contact your Northrop & Johnson broker.
