KINDY TO PREP TRANSITION PROGRAM 2024

Embarking on the journey of starting school brings forth an exciting and rewarding experience for children. Our primary goal is to create an environment where every child receives the essential support and security needed to take this step with joy and confidence. As children transition from Kindy to Prep, we recognise the uniqueness of their learning needs.

At Northpine Christian College, we acknowledge that the initial days in Prep can be a mix of excitement and nervousness for both students and parents. To ensure a smooth transition, we have developed a Transition Program that commences the year before your child starts school. This program is crafted to gradually familiarise children with the classroom, the broader school environment, and the key members of our Prep team. It will also provide your child with the opportunity for social and physical interactions with future classmates.

We are committed to addressing any questions you may have as parents because we recognise that this transition is significant for both children and their families. By participating in our Transition Program, your child not only gets a positive start to their school journey but also benefits from enhanced mental health and well-being, social development, and academic success. The program is designed to minimise adjustment difficulties and emphasises the importance of establishing positive relationships with families.

At Northpine, our Transition Program commences in Term 2, setting the stage for a smooth and positive transition for your child into the exciting world of ‘big’ school.

Term 2

Activity Day 1

Week 2

Tuesday 23 April 2024

9:15am-10:15am

Get ready for the excitement of the first of two Prep Activity Days! As we gear up for the arrival of our Prep children in 2025, we invite them to attend one of the two Prep Activity Days. These special days are filled with games, creative crafts, and engaging activities facilitated by our amazing Prep Teachers.

As your children immerse themselves in these enjoyable activities with our dedicated Prep teachers, we extend a warm invitation to parents to join us in the Performing Arts Centre. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with our Principal, fostering a sense of community and partnership in your child’s educational journey.

If your child is unable to attend this day, a second Prep Activity Day is scheduled for Term 3.

In Week 5, we have scheduled parent interviews with our dedicated Administrative Team. To make this process as convenient as possible for you, our Student Enrolment Officer will be in touch to coordinate individual interviews with each family.

To add a touch of warmth and inclusivity, we encourage meaningful conversations during these interviews by involving your child. As part of this engaging experience, we have a colouring activity booklet for the children to enjoy while their parents chat with us. It’s a fun way to make the interviews more enjoyable for everyone. We look forward to connecting with you and your child during this special time. You will receive a Prep Readiness Guide, a roadmap to the exciting adventure that awaits your little one.

Enrolments commence at this time. To commence this exciting journey, our Finance Department is ready and eager to guide you through the seamless enrolment process. To secure your child’s spot, a deposit will be required at the conclusion of the interview.

Indulge in a Pancake Treat from 8:45AM to 9:15AM, setting the stage for an exciting morning filled with four engaging 15-minute rotation activities for your child (from 9:15-10:15AM). Here’s a glimpse of the fantastic lineup:

1. Children immerse in the enchanting world of Story Time at the Library with our Librarian

2.Children experience the captivating world of Music Fun with the Primary Music Teacher

3. Children dive into the realm of Digital Technologies guided by our specialised Teacher

4.Children get active and enjoy a Sport Activity led by our Primary PE/Sport Teacher

It’s a morning packed with fun and learning – a perfect way to kick off a memorable day! For catering purposes, please RSVP by Friday 31 May 2024.

Join us for a heartwarming experience at our Infant Chapel Program! Our Chaplains extend a warm invitation to join the regular weekly gathering of our current Prep, Year 1, and Year 2 students as they participate in praise and worship activities.

It’s an event that promises to create lasting memories and be cherished by all who attend. Your presence will add to the joy and significance of this special occasion.

We’re delighted to extend an invitation from our Prep Teachers to a special Information Evening just for you! Join us as we share valuable insights and essential information for parents, aiming to make the preparations for your child’s inaugural year of schooling as smooth and enjoyable as possible. Your presence will ensure that you are wellinformed and prepared for this exciting journey ahead.

Prep Open Morning

All students enrolled for Prep 2025 are invited to embrace the excitement of our Prep Open Morning. This is a fantastic opportunity for your children to participate in a variety of engaging activities! Simultaneously, our Primary Deputy Principal and Primary Coordinators will host an enlightening Information Session for parents. During this event, children will also receive a special Prep pack, featuring a Prep Handbook, marking the beginning of their remarkable school journey at Northpine Christian College. It is therefore a very important event for your child to attend. We look forward to creating positive memories as we embark on this exciting adventure together!
