TrailBuilt Off-Road has stepped up as the title sponsor of the Wisconsin Fall 4x4 Fest, helping make this inaugural event possible Their commitment to the off-road community is clear, not only through their support of this gathering but also through their ongoing role as a trusted source for aftermarket parts, wheels, and gear that keep enthusiasts equipped for the trails. With their name on the event, TrailBuilt Off-Road is signaling confidence in the growing network of legal, sustainable off-road opportunities in Wisconsin and the importance of community-driven events like this one
One of the highlights of the weekend will be the raffle program, with proceeds going to the Wolf River Volunteer Fire Department. This is a chance for attendees to win exciting prizes, including gear and experiences donated by industry partners, while also directly supporting the local first responders who serve and protect the Langlade County community It’s an opportunity to give back to those who stand ready when emergencies arise in the very forests and areas we enjoy.
The partnership between TrailBuilt OffRoad, the Fall 4x4 Fest, and the Wolf River Volunteer Fire Department is a perfect reflection of what the off-road community stands for: adventure, responsibility, and generosity By showing up, purchasing raffle tickets, and joining in the festivities, participants are not only celebrating the new Crocker Hills OHMV Trails but also making a tangible difference in the local community

Beyond the trails themselves, the Fall 4x4 Fest is about strengthening connections. Northology has always believed in the power of community whether it’s KOAR in the Keweenaw, Overland the Red in Kentucky, or now in Langlade County The event will bring together people from across the Midwest for a weekend of camping, trail riding, bonfires, and shared learning. It’s a chance to meet new friends, reconnect with old ones, and support the volunteers and organizations who make these opportunities possible
Most importantly, Northology sees the Fall 4x4 Fest as a way to give back Proceeds from raffles will support the Wolf River Fire Department, and the event highlights the stewardship efforts that keep the forest healthy and trails sustainable. Hosting this event means more than just throwing a party it’s about building a culture of responsible recreation, raising awareness for the permit program, and setting the stage for more access in Wisconsin and beyond.

The new OHMV Trails in Langlade County represent Wisconsin’s first designated trail system for full-size off-road vehicles Developed through collaboration between the Langlade County Forestry Department and the 4Lakes 4Wheelers club, the trails were designed to balance recreational access with forest stewardship. With signed routes, managed surfaces, and controlled use, the system creates a legal space for Jeep and truck owners to enjoy the backcountry without damaging sensitive areas or conflicting with other forms of recreation
To use the trails, every vehicle must display a valid Langlade County OHMV Trail Permit, placed just in front of the driver’s door. Vehicles are required to meet specific safety standards, including working brakes, front and rear tow points, a roll bar or hard top, seat belts for all occupants, and a
radios, tow straps, winches with tree savers, and spare tires, helps ensure that trail users are prepared for recovery and emergencies
Operation on these trails comes with clear conduct expectations Crosscountry travel is prohibited Operators must remain on designated routes, avoid intentional soil disturbance, and keep clear of wetlands and lowlands unless marked as challenge areas. Alcohol or drug impairment is not tolerated, and children or pets must be supervised at all times These rules are in place not only to protect the health of the forest but also to safeguard the long-term future of off-road opportunities in Langlade County.
This OHMV system is just the beginning. Langlade County is looking at possibilities for future trail expansion, which could open even more miles of forest roads and challenge areas to responsible four-

Official opening and closing of OHMV trails are completed by a public service announcement by the Langlade County Forestry, Parks and Recreation Department. Trail opening and closing announcements may be found within this website ” -Langlade Forestry, Parks and Rec

The Langlade County OHMV Trails didn’t appear by accident They are the result of years of persistence, vision, and collaboration between dedicated individuals who believed Wisconsin’s off-road community deserved a legal, sustainable place to explore. At the center of that effort were Al Murray, administrator of the Langlade County Forestry, Recreation and Parks Department, and Jim Baker, current president of the 4Lakes 4Wheelers
As the county administrator, Al Murray brought a deep understanding of land management and forest stewardship. His role was to ensure that the development of full-size vehicle trails aligned with county ordinances and long-term sustainability goals. By working closely with the off-road community, he helped create a framework where recreation and conservation could coexist
Sisters doing it for themselves
Northology has had the unique opportunity to host events to run the OHMV trails while they were in development through a special use permit issued by Langlade County Forestry, Parks and Rec In late spring the past few years, ladies gather to learn from other women in the field who bring professional training and knowledge to share in an enviroment of support.
Thank you 4Lakes 4Wheelers and Langlade County for the opportunities!
Al’s leadership provided the foundation that allowed the OHMV system to move from an idea to a countysupported reality.

Jim Baker, representing the 4Lakes 4Wheelers, matched Al’s vision with hands-on dedication. He and the club invested countless volunteer hours, from early trail design to boots-on-theground work cutting brush, placing signs, and guiding new users. Jim’s knowledge of four-wheel recreation ensured the trails were built to both challenge and protect, creating routes that would be fun, safe, and respectful

of the forest His ability to rally volunteers and inspire cooperation made him the heart of the grassroots effort.
Working closely together, Al Murray and Jim Baker bridge the gap between local government and the off-road community. While the club brought expertise, labor, and passion for fourwheel recreation, Al provided the oversight, planning framework, and administrative support needed to make the system official This partnership not only resulted in a unique new recreational resource for Langlade County but also demonstrated how collaboration between land managers and enthusiasts can create opportunities that benefit both the forest and the people who explore it
Together, Al Murray and Jim Baker exemplify what happens when local government and community clubs work side by side. Their partnership has delivered more than just a trail system it has created a model for how recreation, stewardship, and community investment can thrive together Every vehicle that rolls onto these trails is a testament to their shared commitment and vision

“UndertheFullMoon,bytheRiver:
We, Rafael and Amy, are not just business partners, we're kindred spirits brought together by laughter, campfires, and a shared love for water Both born under full moon, guided by the stars, and becoming aware, we found solace in the Northwoods after navigating the darkest nights We believe in the power of community, the healing touch of nature, and the joy of a good belly laugh (often fueled by inside jokes like "and that, and stuff").
FromKayakingtoCampground Keepers:
Our love affair with this land began with a whitewater kayak, purchased with a COVID stimulus check and a dream of exploring the hidden gems of the Northwoods. Soon, kayaking rapids became our escape, a way to wash away the anxieties of the world. Amy, a dedicated RN specializing in Functional Medicine, found solace in nature after tending to COVID patients. And Rafael, a former massage therapist with a managerial past, brought his calming touch and practical skills to the table
APlaceofConnectionandChi:
Our journey led us to River Forest Campground, a place that instantly felt like home We saw its potential as an outdoor retreat center, a space to cultivate community, share our love for art, nature, music, and offer a haven for self-discovery. We envisioned clean showers, beautiful amenities, and a welcoming atmosphere where campers could feel like family.”
