At their first meeting of the new year, the Boardman City Council accepted the resignation, effective immediately, of City Manager Karen Pettigrew. She was elected in November to serve on the city council and felt it was for the best for the city to resign at this time.

Mayor Paul Keefer swore in Roy Drago, Jr., Karen Pettigrew, and Isaac Williams as City Councilors. All three were elected in the November

General Election. Councilor Drago has served the past four years on the council and was reelected. Councilor Pettigrew is new to the council. Councilor Williams was appointed to a vacant council seat in 2020 and was reelected. All three councilors will serve on the council for a term ending December 31, 2026. Mayor Keefer also presented outgoing councilor, Leslie Pierson a certificate of appreciation for serving the past three years on the city council. In other city business Councilor Heather Baumgartner was elected the council president for 2023. The council ap- proved a resolution allowing goose hunting on Dan McCarty’s property within the city limits to deter the geese from destroying his crops. The mayor appointed Mike Connell to the planning commission. He also reappointed Jacob Cain and Jennifer Leighton to the planning commission. Alejandra Mendoza was reappointed to the budget committee.
