Every boater should also familiarize themselves with the State of Missouri Boating Laws.

Labor Day is right around the corner, and the last of the big weekends at the lake will soon be in our rear view mirror. But while things are calming down at the fire pits, marina, beach and so much more, we’re gearing up for one more Bass Tournament.

The important discussion regarding safe boating from the August Board meeting bears repeating here. Namely, it is the responsibility of all boaters to be informed of and follow the Lake Thunderhead Boating rules and the boating laws of the State of Missouri.

Lake Thunderhead has established boating rules which are given to each resident of the lake. Additional copies can be obtained from the lake office. Please familiarize yourself with the rules for everyone’s safety.

1. NO Watercraft launched without a current Lake Thunderhead Sticker and lot number.

2. NO Guest watercraft allowed.

3. All MO Boating Laws and Responsibilities will be Enforced. Copies are available in the lake office.

4. Observe all “NO WAKE” Areas. No Wake Areas are in effect within 100 ft. of the shore.

5. No skiing or water toys on the water before sunrise or after sunset.

6. Jet skis are allowed between the hours of 10 AM and 7 PM

7. Jet Skis must stay 100 ft. from other watercraft.

8. Watercraft must have an orange flag displayed when a skier is in the water. (This includes rafters, too)

9. Watercraft should travel in a counter

12.Members, their families and guests will follow Safe Boating Practices and Will Respect the Authority of the Lake Water Patrol Members, Lake Security, Lake Manager and Board of Direc-

In addition to Lake personnel, the MO Department of Natural Resources has jurisdiction on the water. Our local DNR Conservation Agent is Jake Myers. His purpose on Lake Thunderhead is to be PRO-active, rather than RE-active. He considers education to be a prime objective in the execution of his duties. You can reach Agent Myers at 573/673-0024. Please adhere to these rules. Boating Safety is for everyone’s safety!

You might recall this spring’s tourney had a great turnout, with lots of nice sized fish and full live wells. Here’s hoping this fall’s tourney will yield similar results.

The Fall Bass Tourney is scheduled for Saturday, September 16th, from 7AM to Noon at the North Beach House. Registration is open now.

Forms can be found on-line at the Thunderhead Fish Committee Facebook page or at the lake office. The entry fee is $40 per boat and is due with your entry.

In order to qualify for the early entry launch drawing, your entry must be at the lake office prior to 4PM, Wednesday, September 13th. We’ll have a live drawing on our FB page at approximately 6:30PM the 14th. So tune in live to see what your launch order is, or look for the order to be posted on our FB page a bit later than night, and be sent out by the lake on the 15th.

Registration is also open the morning of the tourney from 6AM to 6:45AM, however those boats’ launch order will follow all of the boats who take advantage of the early entry.

A mandatory participant meeting will be at 6:45AM at the North Beach House. One team member from each boat is required to be in attendance. Also, every participating boat must have their live wells checked by a fish committee member prior to launch. Most committee members will be wearing light blue shirts and are available to help.

The weigh-in is at noon at the North Beach House. A tasty meal will be served following the weigh in. Cost is $7.50 a person.

Trophies will be awarded for big fish, and first through fifth place.

We’ll also have a 50/50 drawing at the weigh-in featuring lots of awesome things donated by various local businesses and individuals. Great prizes are already filtering in. If you’d like to donate something to the drawing, or just to the fish committee in general, please drop the items at the office or with Mark Daniel. Checks are payable to Lake Thunderhead Fish Committee.

We’re looking forward to seeing another big turnout this fall and hope you can make the weigh in & meal, even if you’re not someone who fishes. It’s pretty impressive to see the great fish the entrants catch, and the food is always tasty, with great desserts donated by multiple lake groups.

Tight lines everyone!

No Scrooges for “Christmas in July”

Themed “Christmas in July”, the summer boat poker tour gifted everyone with fun and smiles all around. More than $4,000 was raised from the sale of 330 poker sheets. Poker stops were hosted by the Gilworth’s, Welch’s, Seaton’s, the Daniel’s and Rodney Weir, our lake manager.

Friends of Library to Host Dinner

The wonderful cooks of the Friends of the Library organization will be cooking up a sloppy joe dinner prior to the Horizon Reunion Band concert on Saturday, September 2. The dinner will be held beginning at 5 p.m. on the square in front of Bixler 108. Along with the main course, delicious homemade desserts will be in abundance. In case of inclement weather, the dinner will be held inside the PC Café. The meal is a ‘eat what you want, pay

what you want’ donation.

The All-School Reunion starts that evening, and several classes are planning on gathering on the square for informal reunions.

The Friends of the Library is a 501c(3) organization with the main purpose of supporting the Putnam County Library as needed. The Friends organization was one of the main community partners who worked diligently to get the library expansion off the ground several years ago.

Best Poker Station award went to Mark and Mary Daniels who were assisted by seven elves. The stop raised $874 which they donated to the Laker Ladies for the purchase of new picnic tables for the lake.

Best Poker Station workers included: Greg Daniel, Terri Nelsen, Amanda Sponsler, Michelle Whitlock, Mary Daniels, Mark Daniels, Becky Schurman, Andy Schurman and Heather Moon.

Volume 32 Issue 8 September,
Missouri Conservation Agent Jake Myers and Lake Manager Rodney Weir Best Boat award went to Jim and Heidi Bishop. Worst Poker Hand was awarded to Dewey Herzog.

Board Meeting Held July 11, 2023

Cody Veach called the meeting to order @ 5:30pm, Kerrie Rose, Tiffany Scovel, Mike Vore & Rodney Weir in attendance. Ced joined a few minutes after call to order.

Public Correspondence – Tiffany had a few things sent to her: Pickleball lines on both courts. Rodney responded they only did 1 course at request of tennis players, less distracting for tennis.

Lily pads on West side of lake (not WCA) Rodney & Tiffany will contact owners and see if they would be willing to split the cost of using a drone to do some spraying. Grading/Rip rap on West side of lake, new house built by Mr. Smith, he is doing some shoreline improvements on his property (owns out into the water).

Also, a few weeks ago there was a Facebook discussion about being a public or private beach and some things going

on that weren’t cared for.

Tiffany & Rodney would like to make sure that if there are issues at the lake, that they are reported to the proper channels, call the lake office or Rodney directly and things will be handled. No one was notified of anything going on at the beach during the time of the posting, it was only after the fact, on social media when there was nothing that could be done at that time.

We have security cameras that record all throughout the lake. There was a situation that happened on 7/9/23 that Rodney was made aware of, Security was sent and then law enforcement was called, and situation was resolved timely because the proper people were notified. Yes, our lake and beach are private, nonmembers can be asked to leave by security, but only if notified of an issue at the time. We are asking that everyone please contact

the office or Rodney and refrain from negative social media posts.

We will be adding new signage stating Private Property, no glass bottles, dogs on beach etc. The old signs were damaged and need replaced.

There was a suggestion that the beach house showers and sinks have the pressure release on/ off added instead of just turning faucet on, hopefully to lessen the chances of vandalism. There are security camera’s that FACE the entrance to each restroom (not inside the restroom) since those have been placed we’ve had less issues. It was requested to look at the toilets to see if there is a way they can be flushed easier as children don’t have the strength to engage the flush. Rodney will speak to Patrick Pittman.

Secretary Report –Mike motioned for June minutes to be approved, Tiffany seconded.

Treasure Report –Tiffany reviewed report, dues remain short to budget, boat & golf cart stickers are down. Concern people may not recognize golf cart stickers are yearly, not a one-time purchase. In 2022 we did not issue late fee’s while people adjusted to new billing system, email vs. mail, 2023 we are now issuing late fee’s so please make sure you pay your water bills by due date. Linda made some recommendations and Mike Vore is looking at our budget. Met with Accountant Melanie to check where we are with tax liability and looking at projects to defer tax liability. Save Cool Cash On Hot Days (NAPSI)—Almost

everyone appreciates a nice, cool, comfortable home when it’s hot outside, and as air conditioners kick into high gear, there can be a price to pay—literally—but you can do something about that.

The Problem

One big source of energy consumption in a home is the HVAC system. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Energy, families can cut their energy bill by as much as 20% to 30% simply by doing proper equipment maintenance.

How It Works

Your heating and cooling system circulates temperature-controlled air through a series of air ducts. With everyday life, however, all sorts of contaminants and pollutants get pulled into the HVAC system, then recirculate through your home several times a day. All that can cause a major build-up of contaminants which can use up to 30% more energy and make the system more likely to break down.

A Solution

Fortunately, when an HVAC system is clean,

it’s more efficient and doesn’t have to work as hard to maintain the desired temperature, so it uses less energy—which can mean lower electric bills and helps you avoid expensive repairs and replacements in the future.

Replacing filters regularly can go a long way toward maintaining a clean system, but filters can’t catch everything. Your home’s air ducts need to be properly, professionally cleaned.

The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) can help. NADCA members follow the highest standards, and their technicians have advanced training and certification

6 Backyarding Renovation Mistakes to Avoid, According to the TurfMutt Foundation

not disable or alter any of the safety features. Always keep pets and children away from machinery during operation, and do not let children on or near lawn mowers at any time.

(NAPSI)—Summer

and backyarding—the act of taking our indoor life outside—go hand in hand. This time of year, the backyard beckons for entertaining, working, exercising, relaxing, and reconnecting. But those looking to make improvements to their family yard for even more family fun this summer need to avoid some common backyard renovation mistakes.

“Mulligan the TurfMutt and I recently moved into a new home, and we were reminded about some of the backyard renovation pitfalls that can be easy to fall into,” said Kris Kiser, President & CEO of

the TurfMutt Foundation, which encourages people to care for and use their outdoor spaces. “By keeping a few basic principles in mind during backyard improvements, families can create a purposeful, dream yard for year-round outdoor living.”

Here are the top backyarding renovation mistakes to avoid, according to the TurfMutt Foundation:

Not considering your yard’s full potential. Your yard has the ability to safely and comfortably accommodate a range of functions for your family. From outdoor officing to al fresco dining and offering a place for

Planting fake grass. Plastic grass offers none of the life-giving benefits of real grass—such as oxygen production, carbon sequestration, urban heat dissipation, or air pollution reduction. Real grass offers all these benefits, and it is easier on feet and paws. Also, real grass is a natural air conditioner.

Forgetting the “right plant, right place” rule. This is the “Golden Rule” of backyarding, but it’s more than just knowing which plants will thrive in sunny spots versus shaded areas. Selecting the right plants for your micro-climate and lifestyle will result in a living landscape that requires minimal upkeep on your part while offering maximum environmental benefits.

Not treating your yard like part of the connected ecosystem. Your yard

links with other community green spaces to provide food and shelter for pollinators, such as birds, bees, butterflies, bats, and other creatures. Support pollinators and wildlife by planting a healthy balance of grasses, flowers, shrubs, and trees that thrive in your yard’s conditions and bloom at different times throughout the year.

Not utilizing community green spaces. Think of community parks, dog parks, green belts, and schoolyards as an expansion of your own backyard square footage. Not only do these community areas provide a change of scenery from your own backyard, they are particularly beneficial for those with little to no backyard space of their own.

Failing to keep safety in mind. Outdoor power equipment makes big backyarding projects easier, but it is critical to keep safety in mind. Read your owner’s manual and follow all manufacturer’s guidelines. Do

A rude awakening

It happened in the town of Golden, British Columbia. Ruth Hamilton was fast asleep when her dog started barking. Then, says the Association of Mature American Citizens [AMAC], she heard “ a huge explosion and [felt] debris all over my face.” She got out of bed and called 911.

“Talking to the operator,

she was asking me all kinds of questions, and at that point, I rolled back one of the two pillows I’d been sleeping on and in between them was the meteorite. I was shaking like a leaf. You’re sound asleep, safe, you think, in your bed, and you can get taken out by a meteorite, apparently.”

“In the cookie of life, friends are the chocolate chips.”

Are You Eligible To Claim The IRS Saver’s Credit?

(NAPSI)—Here’s good news, for a change, from the IRS: It offers an incentive to lower your tax bill when you save for retirement. With pandemic-related employment disruptions last year, more taxpayers may be eligible to claim the Saver’s Credit but

may not even know this tax credit exists. Also referred to as the Retirement Savings Contributions Credit, the Saver’s Credit can reduce federal income taxes for eligible taxpayers who save for retirement through a qualified retirement plan, such as a 401(k) or

an Individual Retirement Account (IRA).

The 22nd Annual Transamerica Retirement Survey finds that fewer than half (48 percent) of workers are aware of the Saver’s Credit.

“People who are saving for retirement may be able to claim the Saver’s Credit and reduce their federal taxes,” says Catherine Collinson,

CEO and president of nonprofit Transamerica Institute and its Center for Retirement Studies. “Perhaps people are confusing the tax credit with the tax-advantage treatment of retirement accounts. The idea of a double tax benefit may sound too good to be true but both are available to retirement savers.”

What Is the Saver’s

Credit?

The Retirement Savings Contributions Credit is a non-refundable tax credit for contributions an eligible taxpayer makes to a 401(k), 403(b) or similar employer-sponsored retirement plan, a traditional or Roth IRA or an ABLE account. In this context, “non-refundable” means the credit cannot ex-

7 Tips for Readying Your Outdoor Power Equipment for Winter Storage Prep Equipment for Season Changes, Save Time and Future Headaches

Once the last leaves have been blown away…

(NAPSI)—After

your lawn gets its last cut before winter, it will be time to put away spring and summer outdoor power equipment, like lawn mowers, leaf blowers, and trimmers. What’s next? Snow throwers, generators and other small engine equipment need to be readied for winter use. How and when you prepare your equipment for seasonal changes can save you time and money later, says the Outdoor Power Equipment Institute (OPEI).

With record-breaking sales of outdoor power equipment, homeowners are spending more time during the COVID-19 pandemic working or renovating their family yards. This means more people are using outdoor power equipment, and OPEI reminds everyone the importance of proper outdoor power equipment storage, maintenance and safe handling.

“During this very challenging pandemic, we’ve learned our outdoor spaces are more important than ever,” says

Kris Kiser, President and CEO of OPEI and the TurfMutt Foundation, which encourages outdoor learning experiences, stewardship of our green spaces, and care for all living landscapes. “Our yards, parks and schoolyards are our safe space for connecting with friends and family, acting as outdoor classrooms and offices. Green space also contributes to the health and wellbeing of people, pets and wildlife, and having the right outdoor power equipment to take care of it is key. But preparation is everything —understanding how to store equipment and get it serviced, how to operate it safely, and how to ready your space to use that equipment.”

He adds, “Always follow your manufacturer’s guidelines, and remember to keep kids and dogs away from operating equipment at all times.”

Here are a few tips from OPEI to ensure your lawn mower and other spring equipment will be available for use when warmer temperatures return, and snow throwers and other winter equipment will be ready for use when the

1.Review owner’s manuals. Re-familiarize yourself with how to handle equipment safely. Lost manuals can be found online. Save a copy on your computer if possible, so it can be consulted when needed. Be familiar with your equipment, and all its features, including how to turn it off quickly and safely.

2.Service all equipment. Before storing

spring and summer equipment, clean and service it or take it to a small engine repair shop. Drain and change engine oil and safely dispose of the old oil. Service the air filter, and do other maintenance as directed by the owner’s manual. Check winter equipment and see if any maintenance and repairs are required.

3.Handle fuel properly. Unused fuel left in gas tanks over the winter can go stale and even damage equipment. Before storing equipment, add fuel stabilizer to the gas tank, then run the equipment to distribute it. Turn the engine off, allow the machine to cool, then restart and run

until the gas tank is empty. For winter equipment, buy the recommended type of fuel no more than 30 days before use. Use fuel with no more than 10% ethanol in outdoor power equipment. Use a fuel stabilizer if recommended by the manufacturer. Get more information on safe fueling for outdoor power equipment at LookBeforeYouPump.com.

4.Charge the battery. Remove and fully charge batteries before storing. Don’t store batteries on metal shelves or allow them to touch metal objects. Store them on a plastic or wood shelf in a climate-controlled structure.

5.Shelter equipment from winter weather. Store spring and summer equipment in a clean and dry place such as a garage, barn or shed. Winter equipment should be kept away from the

elements, but be easily available for use.

6.Prepare, prepare, prepare. Make space in the garage or basement before the weather changes, so there is room to store larger yard items. Clean up the yard of sticks, debris, dog and kid’s toys and other items that can damage or destroy equipment. Clear the paths used regularly in your yard, especially during the winter when snow can “hide” things.

7.Have the right weather appropriate extension cord for your generator. Keep heavy duty weather proof extension cords on hand to use with it. Ensure the length of the cord is necessary to operate the generator a safe distance from the house or building. Never operate a generator indoors, in a garage, breezeway or under an open window.

A Golden birthday party

They came from all corners of the earth to attend a birthday party at Guisachan House in the village of Glen Affric in the Scottish Highlands recently. The event was held to celebrate the birth of the first litter of Golden Retrievers 155 years ago. The event attracted 466 dogs and their owners. According to the Golden Retriever Club of Scotland, “the Golden

as we know it today was bred at Guisachan, Glen Affric, near Inverness, the Scottish Estate of Lord Tweedmouth, from a series of matings which commenced by mating a good looking yellow coloured Flat Coated Retriever with a Tweed Water Spaniel called ‘Belle’ (a breed now extinct but believed to be a small liver coloured dog with a curly coat).”

An Rx Label That Speaks for Itself

(NAPSI)—There is good news for many in the visually impaired community, and for anyone who has trouble reading standard print labels.

Prescription management and medication adherence can be particularly difficult when it’s difficult to see the label.

However, there’s CVS Pharmacy’s Spoken Rx®, a digital solution that makes managing prescriptions easier and more accessible by reading important prescription information aloud. It also serves as an important tool for people experiencing literacy or language difficulties, or dyslexia.

With Spoken Rx, patients can hear their prescription information read aloud by scanning an RFID (radio frequency identification) sticker on the bottom of their prescription bottle or package. It is available for free to all patients at CVS Pharmacy locations nationwide. As the first in-app prescription reader application developed by a national retail pharmacy, Spoken Rx is an extension of other helpful tools offered by CVS Pharmacy like large-print accessible prescription labels.

“I lost the majority of my vision at 14 due to Retinitis Pigmentosa

and I can tell you, when you’re blind, every bit of independence matters. I know first-hand how much of a difference it makes being able to manage my prescriptions on my own without having to ask for help,” said Molly Burke, social media influencer and advocate. “Spoken Rx has been a game-changer for me and others in my community. It’s so easy to use and allows me to keep my own medical information private, which is so important.

I appreciate that CVS Pharmacy is prioritizing innovations that help all its customers, including people like me, and I’m looking forward to seeing the ways in which CVS continues to grow its accessibility and digital offerings.”

How Spoken Rx works

To use Spoken Rx, patients or companions must download the CVS Pharmacy app from the iOS App Store or Google Play, then:

• Open the CVS Pharmacy app using Siri or Google Assistant, select the “Pharmacy” tile on the homepage.

• Navigate to the “tools & settings” section and select “Spoken Rx”.

• The device prompts users to scan the bottle, bring the RFID tag on the bottom of the prescription vial near the device’s camera.

• If the RFID tag is read correctly, the prescription information will display on the screen and the app will speak prescription information out loud.

What prescription information can be read aloud?

Information that can be read aloud by Spoken Rx in either English or Spanish includes:

• Patient name

• Medication name

• Dosage and directions

• Pharmacy address

• Pharmacy phone number

• Prescription number

• Dispensed quantity

• Refills remaining

• Prescriber name

• Fill date

• Discard after date

The development and continued enhancement of Spoken Rx illustrates CVS Pharmacy’s role in serving people’s unique needs by delivering them innovative solutions no matter where they are on their health journey.

How to Sign up

You can enroll for free either over-thephone or in-store, where a pharmacist can ensure the patient’s app is appropriately set up for the service. To find a CVS Pharmacy near you or to learn more about Spoken Rx, please visit www. CVS.com/SpokenRx. ~~~

Lip Care is an Important Part of Your Oral Health

Routine

(NAPSI)—Lips are one of the most sensitive organs in the body, composed of more than a million nerves, yet they are often neglected and not treated properly. Without healthy, fully functioning lips, your everyday life would look very different—which is why it’s so important to take the necessary steps to protect them.

Why protect your lips

Lips are the body’s thinnest and most fragile layer of skin, and lack the sweat glands—or sebaceous oil glands— necessary to provide strong protection. This combination of thin skin and lack of natural moisturizing leads to dryness and susceptibility to becoming chapped, especially in drastic weather conditions. Over time, untreated chapped lips could lead to severe oral deterioration and susceptibility to wounds.

As seasons and temperatures change, your

lips can be greatly affected if not properly cared for. During the hot summer months, it’s important to protect your lips with lip balm and SPF lip care. Continuous and unprotected sun exposure can cause breakage to the skin barrier and lead them to look aged and discolored, and in some cases, even to oral cancer.

No matter the weather—or your age—it’s important to pay close attention to your lips, and to develop a regular lip care routine to help keep your lips soft, smooth and healthy.

“The lips are one of the most overlooked parts of the body, and ongoing neglect can lead to serious consequences including mouth cancer,” warns Kyle Dosch, DDS, who serves as Delta Dental of Washington’s dental director. “It is important to schedule your twice annual check-ups with your dentist where they perform oral inspec-

tions to detect any urgent mouth issues.”

How can I protect my lips?

Many think that licking your lips provides them with sufficient moisture but, in reality, this actually dries them out even more. To keep your lips hydrated, use

a moisturizing lip balm, which can be applied as often as you feel your lips need a hydration boost.

Causing excess fat to build up in the liver, fatty liver disease has little to no symptoms. Its exact causes are unknown but continued research indicates genetics, digestive disorders and diet can all play a role.

Research also indicates that fatty liver disease is not caused by heavy alcohol use (alcohol-associated liver disease). Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is an advanced form of fatty liver disease causing inflammation and liver damage, which can lead to liver failure and the need for liver transplant.

A Look at Your Liver

A healthy liver is essential to your overall health and wellness, and performs many necessary functions such as:

• Filtering toxins

from your blood

• Making bile to help with digestion

• Storing sugar for energy

• Making protein for blood plasma

Additionally, the liver is the only solid organ in your body that can regenerate or repair itself, so getting an early diagnosis is critical. Often, liver patients can reverse liver damage or slow disease progression with a few small changes to

their daily lifestyle.

Minimizing Your Risk

Everything you eat, breathe and touch is processed through your liver, therefore ensuring good liver health is critical. You can take steps to minimize your risk of fatty liver disease by following these simple tips:

• Maintain a healthy weight

• Eat a healthy diet

• Exercise regularly

• Limit alcohol intake

• Take medications only as prescribed

In October, which is National Liver Awareness Month, the American Liver Foundation (ALF) encourages everyone to find out if they are at risk for fatty liver disease through its national public awareness campaign, Think Liver Think Life™.

About ALF ALF is dedicated to

ensuring every American understands their risk for liver disease, receives the appropriate diagnostic testing and care coordination and feels well-informed and supported throughout their liver journey. By partnering with community health centers and state departments of health, ALF offers screenings for those most at risk for fatty liver disease and provides them with connections to follow-up care when appropriate.

Getting a diagnosis early is critical for having a chance to reverse course before liver disease progresses. You can find out if you’re at risk by taking ALF’s liver health quiz at www. ThinkLiverThinkLife. org.

streetlights, but he feels more discussion needs to be had as he has heard multiple residents are not happy about installing street lights on North End.

South Beach area is still being discussed as sand just washes away, so under the water is really sandy, but not so much on beach.

Old Business

Off-site clarification

boat stickers/fees – Kerrie & Ced have an upcoming call with a 2nd attorney.

Update on sale of misc. Lake Thunderhead property – Survey draft complete, legal descriptions sent to abstract company, have 4 more closings on 20th. Ced has talked to all property owners and will follow up and then possibly open up to public. Board needs to discuss lots that aren’t big enough to build on, would consider selling just for lake ac-

cess? Other discussion for Board is how to run utilities to new properties. Tiffany has been in contact with Accountant on tax liability to WCA for money from sales. Board will probably have a workshop to discuss further. Ced had survey company do at one time, significant cost saving, and will still be passed on to buyer. The road is now called Lupton Road.

Disc Golf – Tiffany has talked to a course designer that will come out for $200 and give some recommendations on site, possibly blended with existing course. $2500 fee to design, approximate cost to build would be about $10K.

Kerrie asked what is the demand by members, so it’s been decided to put a survey out to see peoples’ thoughts, as it is a pretty big investment.

Addition of a Bistro discussion (North Beach

Building) - Can’t be a 1031 exchange on new construction, but can use phases of building as a tax deferral if done by year end, ie: driveway, parking lot, utilities. Several people feel we’ve outgrown our current restaurant, we’ve outgrown our “community room” (basement), so turning the current restaurant building into a Community Center for meetings, committee planning, possibly renting out for groups, etc. and building a new restaurant is needed. Thoughts were to fund it with the sale of the lots and fundraising, not dues increase. Again, possible survey to members on their thoughts. Would this be seasonal, yearround, what sort of budget to build?

Question about Nabr, how many people are using. To date there is about 400 sign ups, so about 50%. This is the WCA official communication app so if you haven’t registered, please do so. Contact office for help, download

the NABR Network app to your phone and follow sign in info. You can post pictures, comments, classified ads, etc.

New signage around Lake – Updating some of the old signs, office is working on verbiage. There are numerous areas around lake that really aren’t identified, such as “South Beach”, better directions maybe campgrounds or bathhouse, etc. Private restricted community, etc.

Restoration of Campground restrooms –September remodel to eliminate shower, enclose water heaterstorage area, new ceiling, new toilets & sinks with stalls, redo floor. Use North beach area to shower.

New Business Strategic Planning discussion – Mike Vore put together a long-range planning worksheet that Board will expand on and then look to members to form committees (5 or 6 people) for different areas. This is a process that will take quite a while (up to 6 months),

we plan to start holding meetings after Labor Day.

Rodney had an ask of the board, in August, office goes to ½ days on Saturdays, and we close the office on Saturday after Labor Day.

Lot Consolidations/ Inactivation’s - None

Misc. items of interest to the Association – Ced wants to bring back to the Board about taking over North Bay, he would like to put a timeline on it. He also wanted to clarify

who the developer is: Ced is a representative of the Developer on the Board, as assigned by Larry Gilworth. Larry & Doug Gilworth are the Developers. Monroe Adams will not donate the riparian rights, but is looking to putting in some rip rap, etc. around his property to use the funds.

butter, which is a great source of moisturization. Also, when choosing a lip balm, check for SPF 30 or SPF 40. Even if it’s not sunny out, there are still strong UVA and UVB rays that can cause more damage to your lips, according to Healthline experts.

Another way to protect your lips is by exfoliating at least once a week using sugar or salt

mixed with your preferred nourishing oil, then follow up with a lip balm. Make sure, when exfoliating, you’re not applying too much pressure because you don’t want to break the skin barrier any further.
