NEMR CEO Gillespie Attends Great Northwest Days

PC Athletes Recognized as State Academic All Stars

NEMR’s CEO, Michele Gillespie, is pictured above with lawmakers and others representing Sullivan County during Great Northwest Days at the Capitol. The event brings residents from the nineteen-county region of Northwest Missouri, including multiple communities and representatives from business, education, healthcare, and government, to Jefferson City to educate legislators on Northwest Missouri counties and to discuss issues that are critical to the region. Gillespie talked with Lieutenant Governor Mike Kehoe, State Representatives Danny Busick and Greg Sharpe, and Missouri Senators Cindy O’Laughlin and Rusty Black. One key issue this year was infrastructure-a topic essential to the health and wealth of our region. Lawmakers were encouraged to invest in our rural region’s roads, bridges, water, and wastewater projects as well as broadband to connect the region to the state and the world. Other topics included education, workforce development, and community improvement. Learn more about Great Northwest Days at www.greatnorthwestday.com. Missouri NRCS Announces Second Batching Date for FY 2024 Conservation Stewardship Program Funding

Columbia, MO, February 15, 2024 – The Missouri Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is announcing March 15, 2024, as the second batching date for applications submitted for Fiscal Year 2024 funding for the Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP). There are several funding streams includ-

ed in this batching date to best meet the various needs of producers statewide. They are: CSP IRA Classic (all ranking pools are ACT NOW) CSP Classic ACT NOW *Socially Disadvantaged Nonindustrial Private Forest Land *Socially Disadvantaged Ag Lands *Organic CSP Classic (all other

ranking pools not outlined above) “CSP is our nation’s largest conservation program in terms of participating land,” said Acting Assistant State Conservationist for Programs Lena Hoover. “These various funding streams are allowing us to get more money to more producers, and ultimately, continue to grow this program.”

NRCS uses batching dates for CSP and EQIP as a tool to review, approve and fund applications at several points throughout the year, as opposed to a singular deadline. This ensures that farmers, ranchers and forest landowners looking to enhance conservation practices on their land have several opportunities to receive funding during a fiscal

year. NRCS accepts applications on a continuous basis, and applications received after a batching date will automatically be considered during future funding cycles. Increased Minimum Annual CSP Payments In late 2023, the U.S.
