A Daughter’s story of her Mom… Mine was warm, and squishy, and always smiling. In spite of being small in stature, I thought her hugs extended around the world. She would care for sick animals, cook casseroles for anyone grieving in our church, was the first one on the block to help a neighbor, and the best nurse ever when I was sick or I was feeling sad. She had an infectious laugh and now when I look back at pictures, it was always my mom who was cracking up. I have to say she was always the first person I would go to share my wows or my woes. I thought she was the wisest person I ever met. She was my best friend and taught me how to be kind, to be faithful and how to love well. My Mom was a special person. I miss my Mom.

Honor a mom this Mother's Day by helping others:

Think about a remarkable woman who nurtured you, championed your dreams, and offered unwavering support – a mom, grandma, teacher, friend, or neighbor. Moms are the pillars of our lives, and this Mother's Day, you have the chance to honor them and countless others. Northland Shepherd's Center shares your appreciation for these amazing women. We witness their strength and resilience every day. We also know that as moms age, their needs may change. That's where we come in.

Help us continue to provide exceptional care for aging adults in our community! Donate to Northland Shepherd's Center in honor of a special mom in your life. Your gift will ensure that we can continue to offer person-centered care, treating everyone like our own family.

Show Your Love in Two Ways:

Make a Gift in Her Honor: A heartfelt tribute for a woman who shaped your life! We'll send a Mother's Day greeting to your honoree letting them know of your thoughtful gift. For moms no longer with you, a memorial gift is a beautiful way to celebrate their legacy.

Share Your Story: Tell us about this special woman in your life. We'll celebrate these inspiring stories on our website and social media.

What if . . . you woke today and the organization that provides your only daily hot-meal delivery let you know that they didn’t have any delivery drivers?

What if . . . you haven’t bathed/showered for several days because you do not have any grab bars installed, or, the grab bar(s) you do have installed have become unattached and you are fearful of falling?

What if … the prescription your doctor has prescribed for you is awaiting pick-up at the pharmacy but you don’t have a way there?

What if . . . you, the caregiver, are greatly looking forward to the day of respite knowing that your loved one is cared for in a safe, enriching, enjoyable program, but have been informed that they will not be meeting because there aren’t enough caring hands to fulfill the services?

All of the above examples are easily avoided by your willingness to take a step forward and become a volunteer. Volunteer opportunities are on your schedule. Volunteer opportunities are time bound. Volunteer opportunities are rewarding experiences for both you and those with whom you assist.

Learn more about volunteer opportunities with Northland Shepherd’s Center, contact Laurie Roebbeke at 816-8443950, or laurie@northlandsc.org.
