Wingham HC plans progress By Scott Stephenson The Citizen

Around the world Last Friday, churches all over the world marked a special day on the Christian calendar: World Day of Prayer. The service is written annually by a group of Christian women from a new country each year and this

year it was the Christian women of Palestine who had the honour. Above, the women of Melville Presbyterian Church in Brussels celebrated the service with many in attendance to take part. (Scott Stephenson photo)

On Monday, North Huron Council received a presentation from Joe Carter of the 2024 Wingham Homecoming Committee that included both an overview of the progress the committee has made in recent months and a request of council for the donation of municipal services in lieu of a financial contribution. Carter took advantage of the improved council chambers video feed by wearing clothing emblazoned with prominent “Wingham” branding - a preview of some of the commemorative merchandise that will be available at Wingham’s Homecoming, which will be held from June 27 to July 1. Carter and his wife Heidi currently make up the entire Homecoming Committee, and have been working with a number of local businesses and community groups to bring the celebration together. Red, black and white have been selected as the official colours, and flowers will be provided by both Lewis Flowers and House of Bloom. Apparel will have a “Village of Wingham” logo, as well as the unofficial mascot of ‘Wing-ham’ - the flying pig. Events Continued on page 9
