Morris-Turnberry will be considering updates to its official plan and zoning bylaw next month, with the documents set for approval in early October. During council’s Aug. 9 meeting, Huron County Planner Meghan Tydd-Hrynyk explained that it was time for the update because the documents were last reviewed in 2017. Since then, she said, there have been updates to the Provincial Policy Statement in 2020 and the Huron County Official Plan in 2021, both of which dictate portions of the bylaw and plan. An open house is set for Sept. 13, as per Tydd-Hrynyk’s suggestion, with planners being available by appointment for additional consultation. The proposed date for the public meeting for consideration of adoption by council is suggested for Oct. 4. Tydd-Hrynyk outlined a number of general changes that will be made. Proposed changes to agriculture properties include: • Including policies and provisions for Additional Residential Units (ARUs) in agriculture areas, detailed as up to two ARUs on AG-1 properties and one ARU on AG4s. • Clarify that minimum distance Continued on page 20

Ray Berg, Patricia Elaine Smith and Michel Starenky have all put their names forward to be a school board trustee for the Avon Maitland District School Board for the region serving North Huron. In Huron East, incumbent Mayor Bernie MacLellan has put his name forward to again fill his position, filing his paperwork on June 10. He is not running unopposed, however, as newcomer Nancy Craig filed to be Huron East’s next mayor on June 1. Incumbent Tuckersmith Ward Councillor Ray Chartrand filed on July 11 to return to his position. Incumbent Bob Fisher has also filed his paperwork to return as a Seaforth councillor.
