A Time of Boldness

As I write this Publisher’s Note, the weight of this time of year is not lost on me. September 11th already carries a heaviness in our nation’s history, and this year feels especially heavy as we are reminded everyday just how fragile life is.

What I’m reminded of in moments like these is that we are in more than a cultural struggle. Just as there is light in the world, there can also be darkness. And whether we want to acknowledge it or not, we share in this struggle, and no one is immune in times such as these.

The encouraging part is this: God can turn things around for good. History shows us that some of the darkest times become the very moments that awaken

courage, conviction, and faith in people who may have otherwise stayed quiet. I believe, in the future, we will see people, more than ever, stand up for their beliefs and their families with eternal purpose…and let their lives point to something greater than themselves.

My hope is that, out of this season, light will shine through the darkness and bring peace to the world for our generation, and hope for the generations to come. This is the time we will see people lead with courage, love, and truth.

The Success Tax BOWLIN

DEVIN

When Devin Bowlin left his career as an assistant principal to become a full-time real estate agent, he wasn’t chasing a paycheck—he was chasing purpose. “Walking away from a stable job with guaranteed income into a business where nothing is promised was nervewracking,” he admits. “But I knew deep down that if I bet on myself, stayed consistent, and served people well, it would work out.”

Today, Devin is a top-producing agent in the Fort Worth area with Mindset Realty Group, a brokerage that feels more like home than a company name. He’s built a business rooted in care, intentionality, and quiet confidence, but his journey here wasn’t paved with shortcuts or overnight success.

“I want people to know that my success wasn’t handed to me,” Devin says. “It’s been built through continuous learning, reading, asking questions, watching others who’ve walked the path, and a whole lot of trial and error.”

That philosophy—of owning your growth and staying in motion—defines Devin’s entire approach to real estate and life. “I’ve made personal development my responsibility. I believe in paying the ‘success tax’—staying committed, showing up with a healthy mindset, and trusting the systems I’ve built even when the outcomes are uncertain.”

A military brat who spent much of his childhood across Asia, Devin learned early how to adapt, connect, and find common ground with people from all walks of life. That ability to meet people where they are now shapes how he serves clients. “Every person has a story,” he says. “I make it a priority to give each client the specific care, encouragement, and attention they need to reach the finish line.”

His background in education—first as a 5th and 6th grade teacher and later as an assistant principal—helped sharpen the empathy and patience he brings to his real estate work. “The classroom may look different now,” he reflects,

“but I’m still in the business of helping people grow and reach major life goals.”

Those goals vary—from first-time buyers to families rebuilding after hardship—and Devin is drawn to the challenges that come with each unique situation. “There’s nothing like handing over the keys to someone who never thought homeownership was possible. That moment is bigger than just a house—it represents legacy, stability, and a future they may not have thought was within reach.”

It’s also the little moments that fuel his passion: hearing kids pick out their rooms, listening to clients dream out loud, or watching someone breathe easier after navigating a difficult sale.

“The relief in their voice, the hope in their eyes… those are the wins that matter just as much as the celebrations.”

Devin’s story wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the people who walked with him from day one. His brother Mark, founder of Mindset Realty Group, played a pivotal role. “He poured

knowledge into me and believed in me when I was just starting out,” Devin shares. “I still remember him grilling me a steak to celebrate my first closing.” His sister, Maridane, also an agent at the brokerage, rounds out what has become a tight-knit family business where encouragement and accountability are equally served.

Family, in all forms, anchors Devin’s life. At home, he’s husband to Sarah, a dedicated first-grade teacher, and father to Jeweliana (12), Ben (10), and newborn daughter Selah. “They keep us grounded and full of joy,” he says with a smile. “Fatherhood is my greatest joy. I cherish the cuddles, the laughs, and the moments of just being present. It’s the best role I’ve ever had.”

“It’s about loving others well, stewarding what you’ve been given, and using your gifts to lift others higher. Even if it’s not perfect, it’s intentional.”

moves the deal forward in a way that builds trust.”

His advice for aspiring agents? Stay uplifted. “There were plenty of moments early in my career when I wondered if the next deal would ever come. But this business rewards those who stay in motion, even when it’s quiet. Keep your headspace healthy during the dry seasons—trust the process, keep grinding, and don’t lose heart.”

It’s wisdom passed down from his father, a small business owner who always told him, “Just show up every day for anyone.” Devin recalls their inside joke: “We’ll meet you at 2 a.m. if we know you’re coming,” inspired by an old car commercial. “It taught me to show up for every opportunity,” he says. “Even if it leads to nothing—because sometimes, that ‘nothing’ turns into something.”

Professionally, Devin has earned a spot on the Top 1,000 agents in Real Producers. But ask him to define success, and he’ll take you beyond numbers. “Success isn’t about titles or recognition—it’s about alignment. It’s when your actions, values, and relationships all move in the same direction.”

He continues, “It’s about loving others well, stewarding what you’ve been given, and using your gifts to lift others higher. Even if it’s not perfect, it’s intentional.”

That intentionality extends to how he approaches growth. Devin is an introvert by nature, which may surprise some, but he sees strength in that. “I may not say much, but when I do, I make sure it’s intentional and

Outside of real estate, Devin is all about travel, food, culture, and discovering new coffee shops. Lately, he’s picked up golf. “I’m not great at it (yet!), but I love the challenge. It’s funny how you can fall in love with a sport you’re terrible at,” he laughs. “But that’s kind of how growth works—you lean in, even when it’s uncomfortable.”

Looking ahead, Devin’s goals are crystal clear: hit $10 million in sales this year, build stronger client pipelines, and continue refining his systems. But more importantly, he’s focused on showing up well—for his clients, his family, and his future. “I want to be remembered as someone who led with integrity, who showed up with heart, and who helped others believe in what was possible.”

In a fast-paced industry often defined by comparison and quick wins, Devin Bowlin stands out for his steady hand, grounded mindset, and deeply rooted belief that success is earned—and shared—with every step forward.

THE V.I.I.P. TREATMENT PATTEN TITLE COMPANY

In the fast-paced world of real estate, details matter. Time is precious. And for Kristin Emmons Blay, Area VP and Senior Escrow Officer to the Luxe Team at Patten Title Company – Fort Worth, every transaction is personal.

“Our dedication to communication, relationships, and client service ensures that every transaction is treated with extra care and attention,” she says. “My passion is leading a team that goes above and beyond for every deal.”

Kristin has been in the title industry for 15 years, but her path here wasn’t a straight line. After being laid off from the oil and gas industry, she was working as an executive admin assistant

while raising her child as a single mom. A close friend in title kept nudging her to make a change. “By the third time she asked, I said yes—and it was the best decision I ever made. It completely changed the trajectory of my life.”

That leap of faith turned into a career defined by relationships, determination and results.

A Team That Feels Like Family

Step into Patten Title’s Fort Worth office, and the synergy is undeniable. The Luxe Team —Carmen Williams, Shelby Vinson, and Tammy Schrage, spearheaded by Kristin— operate like a well-tuned orchestra. “They’re more than

colleagues,” Kristin says. “We’re a family. We support each other, celebrate wins together, and share the same dedication to serving our clients.”

That spirit of collaboration is no accident. Kristin instills a culture where proactive communication is “non-negotiable.” Her team anticipates challenges before they happen, keeps everyone informed at every stage, and works with a precision that makes clients feel not just served, but cared for.

“Our brand line is, ‘Because closing on time shouldn’t cost your time,’” she explains. “We take on the details, the follow-up, and the problem-solving so agents can focus on what drives their business forward.”

The VIIP Approach

At Patten Title, the philosophy is simple: treat every client like a VIP—but with an extra “I.” Their Very Intensive Individualized Professional Service means no cookie-cutter process. “Every client and every transaction is different, so we tailor our process to fit their needs,” Kristin says. “We don’t just close transactions. We protect your reputation, honor your time, and make sure your clients feel cared for from the moment the contract is signed to the moment the keys are in their hands.”

It’s that commitment to detail that draws top-producing agents to Kristin’s team. “Our ideal clients are those who expect

“WE DON’T JUST GET YOUR DEALS TO THE CLOSING TABLE. WE MAKE SURE YOUR CLIENTS WALK AWAY EXCITED TO SEND YOU THEIR REFERRALS.”

excellence and appreciate a partner who treats their clients like their own,” she notes. The team specializes in creative financing, investor transactions, and complex deals, but their core skill remains building strong, long-term relationships with agents and brokers.

A Partner, Not Just a Vendor

Kristin knows that in real estate, trust is everything. “Agents have worked too hard to risk their reputation on a partner who treats clients like just another file,” she says. “When you work with me and my team, you get more than a title company. You get a trusted extension of your own brand.”

That means anticipating problems before they arise, communicating clearly so no one is left guessing, and making sure clients leave the closing table confident and happy. “I know what it takes to earn repeat business and lifelong clients, and I align my work with your vision for growth,” she says. “We don’t just get your deals to the closing table. We make sure your clients walk away excited to send you their referrals.”

Grounded in Gratitude

Outside of work, Kristin finds her balance in family time. Together they enjoy playing cornhole, dominoes, and especially cards. “Those moments recharge me and keep me grounded,” she says. “It’s all about boundaries and priorities. I make sure

to be fully present wherever I am, whether I’m with a client, leading my team, or at home with my family.”

Her personal philosophy mirrors the way she approaches business: “Always be kind to others. You never know what someone is going through. Be respectful of other people’s time. Forego blame. Aim for a solution.”

Moving Forward

Fifteen years in, Kristin isn’t slowing down. Her goals include continuing to grow as a leader, developing her management skills, and empowering her team to reach new heights. “For me, success is about impact—helping my clients achieve their goals, empowering my team to grow, and maintaining balance between my professional and personal life.”

She credits her success to adaptability and a deep focus on people. “It’s mostly, if not all, about the people. Taking care of them and providing a great experience,” she says. That mindset has earned her a reputation for reliability that keeps agents coming back deal after deal.

A Closing Worth Remembering

Whether it’s a first-time homebuyer or a seasoned investor, Kristin makes sure the closing table feels like a celebration, not a chore. “Every transaction is more than paperwork—it’s a

“IT’S MOSTLY, IF NOT ALL, ABOUT THE PEOPLE. TAKING CARE OF THEM AND PROVIDING A GREAT EXPERIENCE.”

major milestone in someone’s life,” she says. “Being part of that moment, ensuring it’s handled with precision and care, is what drives me every day.”

In a business where every detail counts, Kristin and The Luxe Team have mastered the art of making every client feel like their only client. And that’s exactly why, for top producers who value communication, relationships, and peace of mind, Kristin Emmons Blay isn’t just an option—she’s the partner you want in your corner.

PERRY HOMES

BUILDING A TRADITION OF WRITTEN

EXCELLENCE

BY

PHOTOS PROVIDED BY PERRY HOMES

Texas is a land built by pioneers and known for bold beginnings, and Perry Homes has carved out its own legacy as a trailblazer in the homebuilding industry. Since 1967, Perry Homes has delivered over 65,000 residences across more than 90 communities with quality at its core and innovation at every turn. Their team continues to lead the way—and people like Kim Swanner are making sure that legacy only grows stronger

Serving as Vice President of Operational Marketing & Creative at Perry Homes, Kim carries more than a job title—she carries a story. “There’s a certain magic to homes, don’t you think?” she says with a smile. “A home is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a place where dreams come to life. And at Perry Homes, that’s precisely what we do. We build dreams.”

With over two decades in the homebuilding industry, Kim has witnessed firsthand the evolution of design, innovation, and buyer expectations. Yet through all the change, one thing has remained constant: Perry Homes’ commitment to its core values— Design, Quality, Innovation, Customer Service, Warranty, and Giving Back. “Each of these pillars defines who we are and what we offer to our customers,” Kim explains. “But above all, it’s our commitment to helping people find their dream homes that truly sets us apart.”

Founded by Bob J. Perry, a former teacher turned visionary builder, Perry Homes began with a simple yet powerful mission: to provide high-quality homes for Texas families. That mission has only grown stronger under the leadership of his daughter, CEO Kathy Britton, who established the Perry Homes Foundation in 2017 to honor her father’s legacy. The foundation has since donated nearly $4 million to charitable causes throughout Texas, further embedding community impact into the company’s DNA.

For Kim, this culture of giving back is just as important as the homes they build. “Community welfare isn’t an afterthought—it’s part of our identity,” she shares. “It’s amazing to work for a company where purpose goes beyond the product.”

So, what exactly makes Perry Homes such a valuable partner for real estate agents?

Kim is quick to answer: “We offer a seamless and elevated home-buying experience that agents can feel confident recommending to their

clients. Our homes are located in some of the most desirable communities in Texas, and they’re designed to suit a wide range of lifestyles.”

From the signature wall of windows that flood rooms with natural light, to open-concept layouts and over 350 customizable floor plans, Perry Homes delivers thoughtful design at every price point. And thanks to partnerships with leading smart home technology brands, every home comes equipped with modern conveniences at no extra cost—thermostats, lighting, and security systems all accessible from your smartphone.

“We also take pride in our warranty— it’s one of the best in the business,” Kim says. “When agents refer their clients to us, they know they’re getting not just a house, but peace of mind and long-term value.”

Customer satisfaction is no accident at Perry Homes—it’s a deliberate result of their process, which includes rigorous quality assurance, third-party inspections, and an empathetic sales and service team that walks buyers through every step. That attention to detail has earned them a remarkable 95% customer satisfaction rating.

For luxury buyers, Perry Homes’ Britton Homes division brings an elevated experience to the Dallas-Fort Worth market. “Britton is our answer for those looking for distinct architecture, energy efficiency, and personalized luxury,” Kim explains. “It’s backed by the same 58-year reputation for quality, but with added design flexibility and white-glove customer care.”

As the company celebrates over five decades of building in Texas and expands into Florida, Perry Homes remains rooted in the principles that got them here. “Whether you’re a first-time buyer or searching for your forever home, we believe everyone deserves a space that fits their lifestyle,” Kim says.

For real estate agents, that belief creates a powerful opportunity. “We see agents

as our partners,” Kim says. “They’re the ones who guide families through the most important purchase of their lives. And we’re here to make that process as smooth and rewarding as possible—for both the client and the agent.”

One of the ways Kim and her team build those bridges is through local agent networks like Real Producers. “It’s such a fantastic way to connect directly with the people helping families every day,” she shares. “We want agents to know that when they recommend Perry Homes and Britton Homes, they’re delivering more than a great house—they’re delivering on a tradition of excellence.”

Perry Homes doesn’t just build houses—they have redefined what it means to build a home. And thanks to people like Kim Swanner, they are filled with heart, legacy, and a tradition that continues to inspire.

Burkett Burkett

WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN

Angelique Angelique

IIn the heart of Fort Worth’s ever-shifting real estate market, one constant remains for Angelique Burkett: her mindset. “What’s the market got to do with me? We can succeed in any market,” she recalls—wisdom from one of her mentors, Chad Smith. Nineteen years later, that perspective still drives how Angelique leads her business, her team, and her family.

But her story began much earlier—before the contracts, closings, and awards. A fifthgeneration Texan born in Arlington, Angelique was raised by a family deeply rooted in grit and generosity. Her grandfather, a contractor and painter, was known as “an outrageous giver,” volunteering to paint Boys & Girls Clubs and Little League dugouts so young people could learn teamwork and discipline. Her father, who worked at the GM plant for over 30 years, never missed one of his children’s events, teaching Angelique the importance of showing up and giving your best.

Unlocking DFW

That foundation carried her through her years as a student-athlete at UT Austin, where she competed in gymnastics. Though she initially pursued a career in the medical field, she soon discovered her true calling lay elsewhere. She went on to build two businesses—one in gymnastics and another in medical billing—before her sister, a REALTOR®, introduced her to the possibilities of real estate. In 2006, Angelique got her license, and, as she puts it, “I never looked back.”

From the start, her approach wasn’t transactional—it was about people, relationships, and values. “No matter the market, if our core values remain the same in the way we treat clients, and we run our business by placing God first, my husband, my son, then pursue excellence in my business, we remain relevant and continue to grow,” she shares. These guiding principles have carried her through nearly two decades of a fast-evolving industry. For Angelique, the greatest reward in real estate isn’t the deal—it’s the people. “The thing I love most is the relationships we’ve built—clients and vendor partners alike. They become part of The Angelique Burkett Team family.”

Her business has been shaped not just by her professional drive but also by her personal life. Angelique met her husband while attending UT Austin, and they’ve now been married for 23 years. Together, they’re raising their 16-year-old son, Gage. Whether they’re skiing, hiking, sailing, or enjoying weekly dinners

with extended family, their life is grounded in connection. That family bond runs deep—even her sister Francesca and nieces Lexy and Vega are part of The Angelique Burkett Team, helping build a business designed to serve generations to come.

Angelique is quick to credit her team— Francesca Hernandez, Lexy Martinez, and Vega Vuitton—for the exceptional experience they help create for every client. “They bring their best every day,” she says. “From the first meeting, we communicate our promise, deliver on that promise, and celebrate milestones along the way.” Our promise sets the tone for our client’s experience-that we will listen and understand their needs, communicate solutions that empower their decisions, let them know we will take ownership, be proactive, stay positive, and share our gratitude that they chose to work with us. This consistent clarity allows clients to feel supported, empowered, and even excited during what can often be a stressful process.

Her family-first values extend to her team and clients as well. Collaboration, Angelique believes, is the key to elevating the real estate industry. To put that belief into action, she launched UNLOCK DFW: Tour Smarter, Sell Faster—a non-brand-specific home tour involving top-producing agents who provide realtime, actionable feedback to sellers. “In this market, it’s critical to identify easily fixable objections so sellers can adjust

quickly instead of chasing the market down,” she explains. Agents are also encouraged to market the professional content delivered to them to share with their own audiences, providing “maximum exposure on steroids,” as Angelique puts it. “It’s a win for the seller and a huge value-add for the agents.” Though only a few months old, the initiative has already helped sell homes.

That collaborative mindset has paid off. Over the years, Angelique has been recognized as a Rising Star early in her career, earned the RE/MAX Platinum Club Award several years in a row, earned the ICON Award with eXp, and been consistently named among Fort Worth Magazine’s Top REALTORS®, with an impressive career volume of over $175 million. Still, she says her true measure of success came from a moment at a John Maxwell leadership conference: “His definition of success struck a chord with me—‘It is having the people who know you the best respect you the most.’”

Of course, the journey hasn’t been without obstacles. Angelique admits her greatest challenge has been her own mindset. “The battle between your ears,” she says. “Renewing my mind to God’s Truth every day helps me stay on track—regardless of what things look like around me.” That daily discipline has allowed her to overcome setbacks, stay focused, and lead with clarity.

Today, The Angelique Burkett Team is on the rise. In the past year, they closed $15.8 million in volume and are on pace to exceed that this year. But Angelique is thinking bigger. “We’re now building the best real estate practice for the next 10 years,” she says—one that supports individual agent growth and keeps service at the center.

Outside of work, Angelique lives with the same enthusiasm she brings to her business. A lifelong vocalist, she has sung in bands, at church, and even performed the National Anthem at a Texas Rangers game. Whether she’s event planning and serving at her son’s school, continuing to learn guitar,

Being an outrageous giver helps elevate everyone. No competition — just collaboration. There’s more than enough business for everyone. Why not be a giver?”

or traveling with friends, her energy is contagious.

At the end of the day, Angelique’s legacy isn’t about sales—it’s about love and impact. “I want to be remembered as someone who loved the Lord and loved people well,” she says. In an industry often defined by competition, her story is a reminder that lasting success is built on faith, family, service, and value that doesn’t waver with the market.

As Fort Worth continues to grow, Angelique sees boundless opportunity. “The people here are hospitable, hardworking, and we have grit,” she

says. Just like her grandparents before her, Angelique is laying a foundation of integrity, generosity, and heart—for her family, her team, and her community.

“I’d like to think that after 19 years in real estate, I leave every transaction, every room, and every conversation knowing I gave my all,” she reflects. She is quick to share knowledge, remembering how mentors like Jody Kautz, Laura Swearingen and Steve Young poured into her early in her career. “Being an outrageous giver helps elevate everyone. No competition—just collaboration. There’s more than enough business for everyone. Why not be a giver?”

ELIZABETH LANE

WRITTEN BY KATHERINE H. FONDREN

THE LUXE LANE EXPERIENCE

Elizabeth Lane, J.D., knows the truth that many people miss: real estate isn’t just about contracts, keys, and closings. It’s about strategy, creativity, and—believe it or not—fun.

“Our clients love the customized game plan we create for them,” Elizabeth says, her voice carrying both confidence and warmth. “With our Luxe Lane Method, we deliver a concierge level of service—from design and updates to staging—while making the process enjoyable. Yes, real estate transactions can be fun because we handle all the heavy lifting.”

That belief—that buying or selling a home should be personal, strategic, and even joyful—didn’t come from just anywhere. It was shaped by a lifetime of varied experiences, from her early days in a military family to a career path that zigzagged through law, banking, teaching, and hands-on real estate investing.

From Courtrooms to Construction Sites

Elizabeth was born in Glendale, Arizona, and grew up traveling the world as her father served in the Air Force. Living in Germany for four years broadened her perspective on life, but her path after school was firmly stateside: she became a litigation attorney, first in a large private firm and later for the Missouri Attorney General. She also worked as an assistant national bank examiner and spent years as an adjunct professor while raising three daughters.

Real estate entered the picture in 2008 when her husband, James, suggested they start investing. At the time, the couple had three young girls and no investment experience— just a willingness to learn. “James is more of the risktaker, Elizabeth laughs. “I used my analytical mind to study the investment side. We approached every deal conservatively, passing on more than we bought. But every property we did buy was a good one. I loved designing the spaces and telling each home’s story. And it always paid off—those homes sold quickly.”

Some houses needed simple make-ready touches; others required full-scale renovations, even a few fire-damaged “burn-outs.” James became a licensed agent two years ago, and his hands-on skills are growing. “With my knack for design, marketing, and staging, James and I have proved to be a winning combination,” prides Elizabeth. “Our clients are getting two for one since we work as a team.”

The Luxe Lane Method

By 2019, with their daughters grown and married, Elizabeth activated her real estate license, officially entering the profession she’d been circling for over a decade. Drawing on her unique blend of legal precision, investment insight, and creative vision, she crafted what she calls the Luxe Lane Method.

This method shines brightest when she works with families navigating big life transitions. Whether it’s upsizing, downsizing, relocating for family needs, or managing an elderly parent’s estate, Elizabeth’s role extends far beyond the MLS. “Selling a beloved family home is emotional and complex,” she says. “We connect our clients with estate planning attorneys, senior living resources, and estate sale professionals. We want the entire process to feel manageable—and even uplifting.”

More Than a Job

Ask Elizabeth what she loves most about real estate, and her answer is instant: “The people. Our lives are so much richer because of the clients, fellow agents, and vendors we’ve met. Many have become lifelong friends.”

Still, there’s a special place in her heart for listings. “I love seeing our listings come to life in photos and video,” she says. “I can envision the transformation before we start—what it will look like after renovations, makeready, and staging. Every house has a story, and I love being the one to tell it.”

“Real estate is not a cookiecutter transaction,” Elizabeth explains. “Every deal and every client are different. Our approach is highly customized—strategic, personal, and filled with ways to surprise and delight our clients, long after the closing table.”

Her clients respond to this care and creativity with glowing reviews and

heartfelt referrals. That, to Elizabeth, is the best award she could receive—though she’s also earned notable honors, including the 2025 Real Producer Award, the 2025 DFW Rising Star Award, and the 2024 Diamond Club Award from HomeSmart.

Faith, Family, and Perspective

Elizabeth’s success is grounded in values shaped by life’s toughest challenges. A breast cancer diagnosis years ago forced her to slow down, ask for help, and approach each day with intention. Now, cancerfree for a decade, she uses that experience to connect with and encourage others facing similar battles. At her

whether it’s finding their dream home or living closer to their grandchildren.”

Looking Ahead

Elizabeth’s goals for the year are clear: expand her national referral network, feature more local small businesses on all her social media platforms, and, on a personal note, publish the children’s book series she’s been developing. She also plans to keep traveling with James, exploring National Parks, and, of course, spending time with their golden retriever, Scout—walking in the park and watching her swim at the lake.

For up-and-coming agents, her advice is simple: “Stay true to who you are. Don’t try to be anyone else.”

It’s a philosophy that has carried her from courtroom arguments to kitchen renovations, from corporate boardrooms to front porches ready for open house day. And for every client who walks through her door, Elizabeth Lane brings the same promise: a real estate experience that’s as strategic and personal as it is enjoyable—because with the right plan, even buying or selling a home can be fun.

STAY TRUE TO WHO YOU ARE. DON’T TRY TO BE ANYONE ELSE.”

October VIP event one year, donations were made to breast cancer research for everyone who wore pink.

Faith and family remain central to everything she does. Married to James for 36 years, they share three daughters, three sons-in-law, and their first grandchild—a six-month-old grandson who has quickly become the family’s pride and joy.

Her personal definition of success reflects that foundation: “It’s about having an amazing marriage, raising our girls to thrive, and knowing that professionally, we’ve helped people make lifechanging moves—

STRONGER TOGETHER

How the

Merger Redefines REALTOR® Leadership in North Texas

BY BETH GRAEME PHOTOGRAPHY

When the members of the MetroTex Association of REALTORS® (MetroTex) and the Collin County Area REALTORS® (CCAR) voted to merge, they weren’t just approving a plan of merger. They were choosing to shape the future of real estate in North Texas.

This merger is the product of years of conversation about where the industry is headed and what REALTORS® need from their association to thrive.

The result is a new MetroTex, nearly 37,000 members strong, that is positioned not just to keep pace with change, but to lead it.

Doing More

The North Texas market is one of the most dynamic in the nation. Urban infill, suburban growth, rising costs, and fast-moving regulations demand an association capable of meeting challenges head-on.

By joining forces, MetroTex has the scale to do just that— investing strategically in what matters most:

• Advocacy that carries weight at every level of government.

• Smarter technology that makes business simpler and more efficient.

• Professional development that prepares the REALTORS® to serve their clients and in the industry as a whole.

“We now have the scale and agility to invest where it matters most, through advocacy, education, and member success,” said Justin Landon, CEO of MetroTex.

A Model for the Nation

Across the country, REALTOR® associations are asking how to stay relevant in an era of disruption. The MetroTex–CCAR merger provides a clear answer: unify, streamline, and focus on delivering meaningful results for members.

It also reflects a deeper belief that through fostering opportunity, protecting property rights, and raising

professional standards, MetroTex isn’t just serving today’s REALTORS®. It’s safeguarding the future of the profession.

What Comes Next

This is not the end of a process, but the beginning of a transformation. Staff will integrate, committees will align, and new tools will roll out over time. But the trajectory is clear: a stronger, smarter, more connected MetroTex.

“Our goal is not only to serve REALTORS® better but to elevate the profession,” said Johnny Mowad, President of MetroTex. “This merger is a movement toward something better: smarter service, stronger advocacy, and a truly member-driven future.”

Founded in 1917, the MetroTex Association of REALTORS® is the largest REALTOR® association in North Texas and one of the largest in the United States, representing nearly 37,000 real estate professionals across the region. MetroTex is an advocate for the real estate industry and private property rights. For more information, visit us online at MetroTex.com.

SHARED FOUNDATION

There’s something undeniable about a career that aligns perfectly with who you are at your core. For Lori Gentry, real estate wasn’t just a profession— it was a calling she had felt since childhood. “Even as a kid,” she said, “I was the one riding my bike to check out open houses and new construction. I’ve always had a deep passion for homes and what they represent.”

That passion, paired with a fierce love for people, has shaped a real estate journey spanning 15 years. Lori’s path wasn’t traditional. A degree in interior design from the University of North Texas led her into commercial design and business development, but the turning point came when she paused her career to raise her sons. Then, during the economic uncertainty of 2010, she felt the unmistakable nudge to dive into real estate—a field that many were fleeing. “Everyone thought I was crazy,” she recalled. “But I knew this was where God was leading me. I’ve never looked back.”

Now, Lori leads The Gentry Team at RE/ MAX Pinnacle Group Realtors alongside her son, Chase Hansen, who joined her in 2021. For Chase, real estate was less of a surprise and more of a natural step. “Having grown up seeing my mom start her real estate career,” he shared, “I always knew it might be something I’d step into, too.”

Before real estate, Chase served in church and campus ministries in both Texas and Alabama. It was a season of life that sharpened his people-first mindset, something he’s brought directly into his business. “This work allows me to walk with people through important seasons of life as they find a place to call home,” he said.

Together, Lori and Chase bring a seamless blend of creativity, heart, and strategy to every client they serve. Lori, with her eye for design and years of experience flipping houses, helps buyers

see potential and sellers maximize their home’s appeal. “I love guiding people through the transition from one home to the next,” she said. “Whether it’s their first home or their fifth, it’s an honor to walk with them.”

Chase complements her approach with a calm, educational presence.

“Helping people feel like they’re truly understood in this process—that’s what fuels me,” he said. “It’s not just about closing deals. It’s about making sure they feel advocated for and informed every step of the way.”

Their partnership isn’t just successful; it’s deeply rewarding. Lori beams when

“SUCCESS IS ABOUT ENJOYING LIFE AND HAVING THE TIME FOR FAMILY AND COMMUNITY. THAT BALANCE MATTERS.”

talking about working with her son. “It’s a joy to do something I love, and then get to share it with Chase? That’s the cherry on top.”

Despite their impressive accomplishments—Lori has earned honors like RE/MAX Hall of Fame, multiple Platinum Club awards, and recognition in Fort Worth Magazine ’s Top 500—success for this mother-son duo looks a little different.

“For me, it’s about doing something I enjoy, getting to help people, and being

able to provide for my family,” Lori said. Chase added, “Success is about enjoying life and having the time for family and community. That balance matters.”

Of course, the road hasn’t always been easy. Lori had to rebuild her career from the ground up in the face of life’s challenges, and Chase faced the uncertainty of switching careers and launching a business during unpredictable economic shifts. “One of the hardest things,” Lori said, “was setting boundaries between work and life. In this business, the lines blur easily.”

But those struggles have given them both clarity and conviction. They’ve learned how to maintain balance, stay grounded in their faith, and prioritize their clients without losing themselves in the process.

Their faith plays a central role in how they work. “I want to be remembered first and foremost as someone who walked with Jesus and reflected Him in my life and work,” Lori shared. Chase echoed that heart, adding, “I hope I’m remembered as someone who was honest and did my best to serve people.”

As they look to the future, both Lori and Chase are pursuing additional education by working toward their residential appraisal licenses. They continue to be active in their communities—Lori through her church home group and local events, and Chase through his church, gardening, and traveling with his wife, Olivia, and their dog, Finley.

When asked what sets them apart from others in the field, Lori responded simply, “I answer my phone. I do my homework. I try to treat other agents the way I’d want to be treated. It’s about being responsive and fair.” Chase added, “I take the numbers and contracts seriously, but even more than that, I focus on treating people—clients and colleagues alike— with honesty and care.”

Their advice for new agents? Listen more than you talk. Stay in touch after the sale. Be present in your community. And as Lori recalled from mentor Brian Buffini, “People don’t care what you know until they know that you care.”

That sentiment echoes through every story, every deal, and every client interaction Lori and Chase have had over the years. Because at the heart of The Gentry Team is a shared foundation—one that’s built not just on contracts or closings, but on care.

Or, as Chase put it with a grin, “What she said.”
