Honor, at its core, is not only having a high level of respect but showing that level of respect with your actions. When it comes to Real Producers, we are about honoring those agents and businesses that are the best at what they do and creating a commu nity where we can honor each other.
Each of you has earned the RP badge, and I want you to remember that it’s a symbol of the journey you have been on. It is a badge of honor. Be sure to display it proudly. We honor you!
Dallas Real Producers • 13realproducersmag.com
One of my favorite things about what we do at Real Producers is that not only do we honor those that are the best at what they do, but when we share your stories, the focus is on honoring you and your life … the good, the bad, the ugly. There are so many trials and tribulations that occur in life and on the journey to success, and at RP, we honor that journey. Real Producers is not a brag book. It’s a book of honor.
One of my mentors, and an incredible coach, is a former Navy Seal, and if there is any group of individuals that understand and live with honor … it would be the Seals.
As top 500 agents, y’all receive the RP Badge of Honor based on your MLS sales production for the year. If you produce high enough, you make the cut! You get the logo, the magazine, access to the private events, and an opportunity to be featured at no cost to you. If you are an RP Vetted Business, it means that you have been recom mended by top 500 agents (they REAL PRODUCERS: are honoring you and your work), and our team is taking the time to make sure you operate a business that is honorable.
One of the DFW Real Producers’ core val ues, and a core value of mine personally, is honor. Over the past couple of years, I have come to have a new understanding and appreciation for honor.
publisher’s note
A OFCOMMUNITYHONOR
JORDAN ESPESETH jordan.espeseth@realproducersmag.comOwner
What I hear all the time from agents and businesses is that once they get to know other people’s journeys, they have a whole new level of respect and adoration for them. Their level of honor towards those individuals significantly increases. And that is what this is all about—giving honor where honor is due. Whether you are a top 500 agent or RP Vetted Business, next time you run into one of your peers, I hope you recognize their hard work and are able to honor them in some way, big or small.

MAKING HER WAY
SHAW
As Albany remembers it, she didn’t take the traditional route in her career. “After graduating from SMU, I wanted to give back in some way. So, I became a teacher in the Fair Park area. During my last year of teaching, one of my students died of the flu. Brandy was one of the smartest kids I’d ever taught, and I couldn’t fathom that the flu could be deadly. I had done home visits, so I knew where she lived and couldn’t shake the feeling that this amazingly gifted child was taken from the world simply because she happened to be born on the wrong side of the tracks. That broke me. But it also propelled me. I was convinced I could be like Erin Brockovich and work to reduce industrial pollution in low-income communities, so I applied for law school,” she remembers. “I learned very quickly that envi ronmental law in the movies was nothing like real life. I took some environmental law classes and did a moot court competition thinking I’d make my way to the EPA. But I was naturally drawn to classes that were heavy in case law and couldn’t picture a career drudging through code books. So, I started interview ing for plaintiff firms, thinking I’d go into toxic torts. The best oppor tunities I had were in California. I was newly married at the time and chose to stay here in Texas. Luckily, I had an amazing opportunity with a major law firm. But I knew from the moment I took the job that it wasn’t the right fit.”

Eye-Opening Moments Think about those times that stick with you as you guide your clients toward the closing table. What are the things that really stick out for you? While it’s gratifying when all of the nuts and bolts of a deal work together the way they were meant to, the real satisfaction you feel is probably based on moments where the emotion was palpable … where you could feel something tangible in the air that was happening in your clients’ favor. Those are the times that drive Albany Shaw. As a REALTOR® with Compass, Albany works on behalf of her clients to provide them with real eye-open ing moments. “I love the look on my client’s faces during those times. I get to talk with them and get to know them. I love when I’ve been able to wade through the words, getting to the heart of what they really want. There’s just something about seeing their eyes light up when they recognize it,” Albany says. “I love the fact that we connected in a way that I could get to know them well enough to find the perfect match for them. The same goes for working with sellers … opening their eyes and seeing the joy on their faces when they realize that they really are moving on.”
Albany graduated from law school in 2008 as the nation’s economic crash was about to happen. So many of her classmates would have killed for the opportunity, but something was missing.
ALBANY

The foundation of Albany’s world is family. She treasures time with her hus band,
“Withshegrounded,”keepshim.withoutwhatcouldno“ThereEarl.iswayIdoIdoHemesmiles.every
“I’ve been blessed to have lived experiences where I’m just as comfort able with working-class folks as I am with those who are well off financially. Because of that, I’m able to separate what I do from who I am. So, I can be very serious without taking myself so seriously,” she says. “I allow myself to feel things deeply, and a lot of my clients joke that I’m like a big sister to them.”
Heck, I didn’t even know what lawyers made when I left teaching. I was just a girl from Oak Cliff who wanted to make a difference, but I felt trapped. I distinctly remember shocking some folks when I turned down a project that all of the attorneys in my class year were assigned. My conscience simply couldn’t bear the thought that I was helping to create a financial product I knew would negatively impact poor and minority communities. Thankfully, my supervising attorney respected my decision, but deep down I knew I needed to make a move. I just didn’t know what I’d do next.”
Soon Albany knew it was time to leave the firm, moving into real estate full-time in February 2013. “I jumped into real estate and have been running ever since,” she remembers.
The passion she has for properly guide them so that they ultimately make the best financial decisions for themselves and their families. Knowing that my work not only benefits my clients but the generations behind them drives me,” she says. “I do what I do because I get to help people build generational wealth and be a firsthand witness as their lives improve. I may not have changed communities through the law, but I do help impact and change communities through real estate, one person at a time.”
FAMILY FOUNDATION
Albany’s genuine, caring persona makes all the difference for those she serves.
COMMITMENTFULL-TIME
In her free time, Albany has a pas sion for traveling with her husband. They also like to explore restau rants and other little fun spots in the Whencity.it comes to giving back, Albany loves pouring into the lives of young people and supporting Habitat for Humanity.
16 • September 2022 @realproducers “I got my law degree to help make life better for people, but there I was rep resenting banks and large institutions,” she says. “The money was great, but I didn’t become a lawyer for the money.
When you’re the only lawyer people know, you become the go-to for all kinds of advice. A lot of the questions Albany received revolved around real estate transactions. “They were talking to me about the process of them buying and selling their homes and what they were encounter ing,” she says. “I didn’t know for sure, but I often thought to myself that certain things didn’t sound quite right as I listened to their issues. So, in my true fashion, I began studying to get my real estate license while I was still practicing at the firm.” In 2011, Albany earned her real estate license. She kept practicing law, but now family members and friends knew she was a REALTOR® and wanted her to rep resent them since they trusted her advice. “The more I worked in real estate, the more I loved it. So, I talked to my firm’s managing partner about practicing part-time.”

WE STAND OUT BECAUSE WE ATANDWEAPPROACHABLE,AREWORKHARD,WEAREGOODMARKETING.
SIGNS OF SUCCESS
“Healy Property Management got its start in 2008. I had started a real estate company a cou ple of years before. The market became a little uneasy, and people who I had originally sold properties to had bought them for their kids,” Rogers remembers.
As Rogers remembers it, Healy Property Management came about out of necessity.
WORKING IN THE TRENCHES TO CREATE WINNING PLAYS As Rogers explains, property management itself isn’t necessarily a glamourous part of the indus try. Yet, it is vital. “There’s no glamor in property management. It’s a lot like football. In that game, the most import ant unsung hero is the offensive lineman. They don’t get the accolades, but they make every thing work. If it wasn’t for the offensive linemen, the other positions wouldn’t be as successful,” Rogers explains. “It’s the same with property management. Property management makes our real estate company shine that much more, and it makes the pieces work for our REALTOR® partners and clients.”
Rogers takes a very straightforward, common-sense approach to the world of property management. “We stand out because we are approachable, we work hard, and we are good at market ing. We are a front-facing group of people who take pride in customer service,” Rogers points out. “We support people who are in real estate who work with investors, and we give them the gift of time.”
If real estate was a puzzle, if you opened up the box and spread the pieces across the table, you’d see a daunting task in front of you … with moving parts and pieces that don’t seem like they would fit together.
Healy Property Management has steadily grown to become one of the top 30 firms in the state, including one of the top five in Dallas. In the process, they manage a full range of properties, from residential to com mercial … stretching across North Texas.
“When the market adjusted, I would get calls to help them with various elements with their properties, and I realized I was a property management that wasn’t getting paid, and so I formalized the company.”
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER As an iconic REALTOR® and broker in the region, and head of Healy Property Management, Rogers and his team make all of the pieces work together.
One of those on the cutting edge of fitting those pieces together is Rogers Healy.

“It’s a very service-based busi ness, and we enjoy delivering that service. We want to help, and we have committed to continuing to build an excellent organization.”
IT’S A VERY SERVICE-BASED BUSINESS, AND WE ENJOY DELIVERING THAT SERVICE. WE WANT TO HELP, AND WE HAVE COMMITTED TO CONTINUING TO BUILD AN EXCELLENT ORGANIZATION.
TEAM SPIRIT Fueling Healy Property Management is a team of 12, including some licensed agents, as well as vendor partners and maintenance professionals. Through the process of what they do, the team members at Healy Property Management support their REALTOR® partners.
“I don’t see property management getting disrupted in the future. Investors don’t want to get latenight calls about issues with their properties,” he says.
“We protect REALTOR® relation ships. If we get a deal referred to us, when it comes time to do a real estate deal, we bring that right back to our partner,” Rogers says. Aside from working toward making a seamless real estate experience for clients and agents, Healy’s life is made much richer by his family, including his wife, Abby, and their daughter, Henley.
As he looks to the future, Rogers looks forward to the opportunity to continue to make all the pieces work the best they can for his clients and partners.

That’s exactly what the clients who work with Michele Balady Beach get.
A Look Ahead Michele had received an advance look at her future career when she was a young girl growing up.
michele BALADY BEACH Investing in Their Success
As Michele’s children got older, she stopped doing remodeling construction work and partnered up with her mother, Arlene Balady, about 15 years ago.
cover story
“I had bought a home in the early 2000s that I remod eled and sold,” she remembers. “I enjoyed that and then began taking on projects to help clients remodel/ redesign their homes. This experience gave me valu able information that allows me to assist my clients today with ideas and potential costs of doing some remodeling on the homes they are purchasing.”

ONE OF THE BEST ALLIES A PERSON CAN HAVE IS SOMEONE WHO TAKES ON YOUR GOALS AND DREAMS … SOMEONE WHO TRULY TAKES A PERSONAL STAKE IN MAKING THOSE ASPIRATIONS COME TRUE.
“I look at the heart of this business as being about relationships,” Michele says. “I enjoy making peo ple happy and sharing knowledge with people to help them reach their goals.”
Written by: Dave Danielson • Photos by: Jin Kim, URSPECIAL
“That was a fantastic experience being able to work with my mother, an amazing mentor and well-respected contributor in the real estate world. Last year, she officially retired,” she says. “Another fun new chapter began three months ago when my middle child, Lindsay, joined me in the business.”
As a REALTOR® and head of the Balady-Beach Team with Dave Perry-Miller Park Cities, Michele is wholly invested in the success of those she serves.
One of the most gratifying parts of each day for Michele is the opportunity she has to work with the members of her team. Today, she leads a team of six, after having started the team just over two years ago.
Following Her Passions
“My mom has been a REALTOR® since I was ten years old,” Michele remembers. “I knew at some point I wanted to do that, too. I had received a Marketing and Spanish degree and then went on to work in sales with Mobile and Marketing with Greyhound and Ponderosa Restaurants.” In time, Michele started her family and became a stay-at-home mother. All along the way, her inter est in real estate remained strong.
Wonderful Life Family makes life much richer for Michele. She treasures time spent with her husband of 30 years, John, who works in commercial real estate. Michele and John look forward to time with their chil dren — Cristin, Lindsay, and Cole.
REAL ESTATE IS A 24/7 JOB, AND PEOPLE NEED TIME FOR FAMILY OR THEMSELVES.
28 • September 2022 @realproducers
The signs of success have been numerous for Michele throughout her career. She and her team have helped many area residents achieve their real estate goals. In fact, last year, Michele and her team recorded over $65 million in sales volume, including $46 million in sales volume for Michele herself. “My clients and my team know that I am always accessible, even after the sale. I believe this is the main reason for the continued referrals I receive. It isn’t just a sale … it is a relationship.”
In my opinion, the only way a person can accomplish this is to surround themselves with competitive people that you know will take care of your clients as if they were their own.
Signs of Success
“Even though my mom and I had been The Balady-Beach Team 15 years ago, I felt it was important to continue to build the team and brand by adding strong agents with a similar work ethic as mom was transitioning out of the business,” she points out. “Real estate is a 24/7 job, and people need time for family or themselves. In my opinion, the only way a person can accomplish this is to surround themselves with competitive people that you know will take care of your clients as if they were their own. I am passionate and dedicated to being a strong mentor and teacher to my team. I bring experience and knowl edge about how to conduct business and what to look for in the market, and I know my team benefits and succeeds because of our discus sions and information sharing.”

“I think that if you do it right, pay attention, and listen to what your clients are saying, you gain a business transaction that’s successful, as well as a long-term friend,” Michele says. “It brings me joy to help my clients find a house they can transform into their home and create new memories and experi ences for their families.” Day-by-day, Michele puts in the time and effort and dedicates herself in a way that creates long-lasting rewards — by being totally invested in her clients’ success. In their free time, Michele and her family have a big place in their hearts for time spent at their Cedar Creek Lake House. Michele also likes playing tennis and pickleball. Traveling is also something Michele and John enjoy, with a favorite destination being Mexico. Giving back and supporting her commu nity are very important parts of life for Michele. She attended Ursuline Academy and Texas A&M University. “I love sup porting Ursuline and Jesuit, as well as Texas A&M University,” she smiles. “My husband and I are both Aggies.” From Ursuline, she learned the importance and value of serving others and thinks this is reflected in how she serves her clients and the Anothercommunity.favorite group that Michele likes to support is the Together We Thrive, a program designed to
Following Her Own Path
connect at-risk homeless, foster, and sex trafficked youth across North Texas with their community.
As Michele reflects on her career and continues to move forward to make life better for those around her, she feels gratitude for the bonds that continue to spur her business forward. In fact, about 90 per cent of her book of business comes from referrals.

CHOOSING JOY
“My mom always worked and taught me a great work ethic. I highly priori tize my clients and peers; building close relationships has and always will be important to me. I’ve always been inde pendent and enjoyed working but don’t really call this work. It’s a joy to get up each morning and get to do what I love doing,” she says.
As Nora began her working career, she found that she naturally gravitated toward sales, working with the Dallas Morning News for seven

and Executive Vice President with Allie Beth Allman & Associates, a Berkshire Hathaway firm. “I love having ten different bosses through what I do. Every client is a boss. It’s exciting. Some are great, and some are not so great. But I’m a people person, and I love what I do,” Nora points out. “I’m now helping my friends’ kids, and I treat them like they are my kids. I’m really a control freak, and that’s why I don’t have an assistant. My clients are too important to delegate to anyone else. I believe when clients call, they want to talk to you. They don’t want to talk with your assistant.”
CONTINUING A LONG FAMILY TRADITION
Faith plays an absolutely central role in Nora’s world. “I give God all the credit for any success that I’ve had. I center everything I do around my faith,” Nora emphasizes. “At the end of the day, I have to remember it’s little me and big God. That has always been a very important part of my life.”

COMMITTED TO THEIR FUTURE
It’s not that uncommon to hear mild indif ference when you ask many people about how committed they are to their work. There’s none of that with Nora. Instead, she has a proud, exuberant atti tude about the industry. She loves selling the business. That’s because her mother, Jennie Ling, was a REALTOR® for 50 years. Before marrying the love of her life, Mike Ling, Nora’s mother was single and raising two children on her own. But she set a powerful example that would never leave Nora.
Nora definitely got a good look at the real estate profession before making her own decision to enter years—as the second female that the paper had ever hired in its sales division. “I worked there for seven years and then left to start a magazine. In time, the mag azine folded, and I was pregnant.
