The North Country Select Ranch and Performance Horse Sale Inc. was established in 2023 by Matt Rustemeier and Brian Griffith. Collectively, Matt and Brian have 50 years' experience in the horse industry, specifically in training and selling horses. Their passion to ensure those shopping for quality horses could do so with confidence, sparked the idea for a select sale. The North Country Select Ranch & Performance Horse Sale application process relies on 9 essential criteria for scoring and selecting horses. Each horse must demonstrate their skills in front of a committee of industry professionals. Only the horses that meet or surpass the requirements for soundness, conformation, disposition and training are selected. All horses are vet-checked for soundness the day before the North Country Select Ranch & Performance Horse Sale. Consigned horses will showcase their skills (ranch horse, reining, cow horse, roping, etc.) in a preview just before the sale. Horses will be on offer via live auction and online through DLMS (Direct Livestock Marketing System).

To bid, prospective buyers must register in advance with our sales office. During said registration buyers must provide drivers license number. Payment Payment in full is required to be made to North Country Select Ranch and Performance Horse Sale Corp immediately following the sale. Onsite bidders can pay by cash, debit, credit card, e-transfer/wire transfer or certified cheque only. A 3% convenience fee will be charged if payments are made with a credit card. Online and phone bidders have 2 payment choices only, credit card or e-transfer/wire transfer. All online and phone bidders will need to patiently wait for our clerks to contact you for payment following the sale. Make sure you plan accordingly and notify your bank of charges (e-transfer, debit/credit limits in place) . All buyers agree to pay $100/day late fee for any reason their invoice is not paid directly following the sale same day. "Red" is a strong, quiet, flashy sorrel gelding that will make an excellent addition to anyone's herd. At 7 years old and 15hh, Red is ready to go to work. Whether you need him as your next go to ranch. pasture, branding, arena or trail riding horse, Red will be your main mount. Red is sired by Truders Skip A Bar and is out of HOH Cotta Get Me One. Red is strong, straight legged and good footed. He requires no special maintenance and has always been sound. He is an easy keeping horse, both in summer and winter. He is up to date on vaccines (Vetera gold) and has had his teeth floated this summer. As a ranch horse, Red has been used for moving and sorting cows. He has been used in the pasture to rope and doctor cows and calves and has been hauled to brandings. One of Red's best qualities is his attitude. He has an excellent disposition and wants to please. SSR Super High Cat aka Kink, is a 14.3 hand three year old gelding. Kink has been used on the community pasture this past summer checking and moving cow herds. I have roped, tied down and doctored calves on him and for a young horse, this pretty little dun gelding has proven himself to be a stand up partner. Absolutely unflappable in a tight spot, with no buck or foolishness; Quick footed and cowy. In the arena, Kink has been roping the calf dummy as well as slow critters and is showing potential to become a high end breakaway or heel horse. Incredibly well bred 5 year old AQHA mare with a pedigree not often offered for sale in Canada. Shield is a granddaughter of Playgun and Metallic Cat and rides like you would expect her to. Purchased from Cara Brewer in Jay Oklahoma where she started her career as a cutter. We use her on the ranch daily to check, sort, pair out, drag calves etc and she is super handy and quiet at it all. Has competed in ranch rodeos and most recently in Canada's toughest Ranch Horse Competition in Medicine Hat Alberta. Shield could easily be shown by a non-pro, take her to the roping pen and build yourself an amazing breakaway or heel horse or take advantage of cow sense as a penner or sorter.
