We had a great, posi ve start to our Rotary year with most members in a endance and our RYPEN a endee, Jess, and her family coming along as well.
Jess gave us an overview of her me at the RYPEN camp where she met many new friends and was excited to meet both like-minded and different people. Jess told members how they a ended workshops on topics such as Poverty & Privilege, Leadership and Emo onal Intelligence. They also undertook several ac ve challenges in smalls group like a ver cal challenge, flying fox and frisbee golf. One of the highlights was the Zombie Apocalypse Dance Party which was apparently so scary some a endees didn’t know if the Zombies were faking, or not!
Even though COVID took hold of a few a endees, Jess managed to stay well and unaffected. She enjoyed the many team building exercises and exchanged numbers with new friends so that they could stay in touch.

It was fabulous for members to hear that Jess got so much out of the experience and we’re excited to see what she does next. Thank you to Delia for giving a vote of thanks to Jess for her presenta on. We also got some updates from members of various ac vi es. Peter advised that the Rikali project had managed to obtain around 6,000 images of poten al habitat areas, which one Rikali being photographed. This is very exci ng news and proof that the team are working in the right area.
Greg informed the club that the Northam Boulevard has been secured for the 2023 RadioAuc on,withthe datebeingSaturday25 November2023.
Chris ne has received almost all responses for the Visioning exercise with just a couple to respond.
Greg and Delia, along with Delia’s husband Peter, a ended the Rotary in WA launch at Government House on 1 July which was well a ended by Rotarians from all over the state.
We also heard that Rotary Club of Quairading are interested in working together with us on projects and Rotary Club of Wyalkatchem are interested in joint mee ngs.

See you all on Monday 17 July for our Club Forum where we will discuss our Club Bylaws, Membership Dues, the Gazebo project and Delia’s Passion Project.

President DarrenJuly is Maternal and Child Health Month.
Rotary makes high-quality health care available to vulnerable mothers and children so they can live longer and grow stronger. We expand access to quality care, so mothers and children everywhere can have the same opportuni es for a healthy future. An es mated 5.9 million children under the age of five die each year because of malnutri on, inadequate health care, and poor sanita on - all of which can be prevented.
To help, Rotary provides educa on, immunisa ons, birth kits and mobile health clinics. Women are taught how to prevent mother-to-infant HIV transmission, how to breast-feed, and how to protect themselves and their children from disease.
