THE SCHOOL

North Haven is uniquely situated to study and develop partnerships with working waterfronts throughout Penobscot Bay, as well as coastal and island communities in the Gulf of Maine.

The island is central to a biologically important region where environmental concerns directly impact the lives and livelihoods of many residents. Opportunities abound for scientific and cultural study, including solution-based inquiry, in the lands and waters surrounding North Haven.

The Offshore experience will include access to our Projects Building “makerspace,” replete with a variety of tools and gadgets for our entire school population to create, design, and tinker. Additionally, the North Haven Community School is fortunate to benefit directly from the educational programming and worldclass scientific research conducted through the Hurricane Island Center for Science and Leadership.

• North Haven Community School is a NEASC accredited K-12 public school enrolling approximately 50 students K to 12 • Small student to teacher ratios with highly qualified and experienced educators • Modern facilities include a full-sized gym with weight room, two-story “makerspace” building, community garden and greenhouse, and 134-seat community theater
