Cr Hyslop was elected mayor and will represent the municipality in the role for the next 12 months. Cr. Hyslop said the new council looked forward to building on strong foundations and would work hard to further enhance a municipality that has so much to offer. “We’re very enthusiastic to be the best we can be for our amazing shire and community” she said.
Issue of a Deputy The council also chose to elect a deputy mayor and although Cr Hide is new to Council she was voted in to the Deputy position and will be fulfilling the role for the 2024-25 year.
Buloke Shire Mayor Buloke Shire’s new council will meet today Wednesday 20th November to decide on the position of Mayor and whether or not to appoint a Deputy Mayor.
150 Years Anniversary Celebration - St. Arnaud Fire Brigade 1874 - 2024
Torchlight procession creates a spectacle of light - Contributed
A traditional torchlight procession down Napier Street was held last weekend to celebrate 150 years of operation of the St. Arnaud Fire Brigade. While the number of participating Brigades was depleted due to the day being declared a Total Fire Ban, there were still plenty of volunteers proudly marching to acknowledge and recognise the St. Arnaud Brigade’s achievements. With the CFA’s new regulations stipulating only LED torches to be used, the Total Fire Ban was not going to affect the night. • Cont. pages 12 & 13.
