New nominations for Council with fresh ideas and fresh energy SEVEN candidates have jointly announced they will nominate for the Northern Grampians Shire Council (NGSC) elections to be held by compulsory postal vote in October. Lauren Dempsey, John Farrell, Jenny Greenberger, Justine Hide, Karen Hyslop, Karen Probst and Lisa Whyte have all signed up after nominations opened on 9th September. This diverse group is passionate, experienced and ready to deliver. They are launching their campaign together because they all share the same vision to promote gender balance and diversity for better representation on council. These candidates support the principle that equal participation of women and men in politics is an important goal for effective democracy, good governance and strengthening and
enhancing our community. Spokesperson Jenny Greenberger said that all of the nominees support the initiative of the More Women for Council – NGS interest group which promotes ‘putting the unity back into community by offering choice and diversity’. “It is time for new beginnings with fresh ideas and fresh energy. “More Women for Council has been instrumental in encouraging women to stand. “More women does not mean all women as has been suggested by some community members.” The group was formed in 2022 to

St. Arnaud Police report Parkview break-in Between the evening of Thursday 5th September and the morning of Friday 6th September, offender/s have broken into the Parkview Bakery and stolen cash. St. Arnaud Police are appealing for any information or any
local footage that may assist in the investigation.
Family Violence offending Recently, a St. Arnaud male appeared before the Magistrate’s Court charged with family violence offending. The male was sentenced to
8 months imprisonment. This is a timely reminder that committing Family Violence in any form is not OK and is taken very seriously. Police wish to remind you that if you or someone you know is experiencing Family Violence to please reach out and report it to Police.

An early baby boy for Martha IN a facebook post Member for Ripon Martha Haylett and her husband Sam welcomed to the world, a baby boy Liam. “We weren’t expecting you for another six weeks, but you couldn’t wait to join us on Sunday. “Thank you to the beautiful midwives, doctors, and special care nursery team at Bendigo Health that helped you arrive safely. “We love you so, so much. “And will love you until the end of time,” said Martha on facebook. Congratulations to Martha and Sam.
