Lorys Greenall Memorial Kitchen and plaque unveiled
THE plaque that was unveiled last Saturday before the start of the day’s competition tennis in St. Arnaud, read:
In recognition of her love of tennis and her unwavering dedication to the St. Arnaud and District Lawn Tennis Club, as an active player and devoted member for 30 years, Secretary for 29 years and Life Member of the Kara Kara Tennis Association. Lorys was especially appreciated for her
Easter Tournament catering organization, “Queen of Slices”, clubroom operation and the friendship and respect held by all members. Lorys left us with cherished memories and a profound legacy of service. Unveiled 1st March 2025.
Such was the depth of feeling for Lorys Greenall who passed away in May last year, that her husband Stephen was emotional at the start of his speech in response to John Goode’s welcome to all. “She was always around here, keeping the kitchen clean and tidy”, said John. Stephen Greenall said Lorys would be humbled to be honoured this way. The kitchen at the St. Arnaud Lawn Tennis Club rooms has been renamed the “Lorys Greenall Memorial Kitchen”. All those in attendance were invited to write in the memorial book.

Safety issues at Senior Citizens was high on agenda of SCAN THE exit tripping hazard, a general safety issue, was the topic of conversation at the last SCAN meeting where Cr. Murray Emerson talked about how video surveillance currently being organised was only around the St. Arnaud Town Hall and council facilities as Northern Grampians Shire Council cars are getting damaged regularly when stored overnight in Market Square. The Director of Infrastructure, Trenton Fithall has confirmed that the Senior Citizens Hall exit tripping hazard had been fixed and is now safe. Trenton also said that the poor lighting issues around the Senior Citizens building will be completed
shortly when the council’s electrician is available. Similarly, the poor lighting issue around the bus stop will be solved by installing floodlights on the rear of the new Public Toilets (facing the bus stop) when this project is completed shortly. Lastly, the disabled ramp signage at the front of the Town Hall will be completed as soon as possible.
