BELOVEDS IN CHRIST Poetry for summertime 2016, hopefully to provide time and space to weigh words and savor wisdom, such as: “Little Summer Poem Touching The Subject of Faith” by Mary Oliver Every summer I listen and look under the sun’s brass and even into the moonlight, but I can’t hear Anything, I can’t see anything -not the pale roots digging down, nor the green stalks muscling up, nor the leaves deepening their damp pleats, nor the tassels making, nor the shucks, nor the cogs. And still, every day, the leafy fields grow taller and thicker -green gowns lofting up in the night, showered with silk. And so, every summer, I fail as a witness, seeing nothing – I am deaf too to the tick of the leaves, the tapping of downwardness from the banyan feet -all of it happening beyond any seeable proof, or hearable hum. And, therefore, let the immeasurable come. Let the unknowable touch the buckle of my spine. Let the wind turn in the trees, and the mystery hidden in the dirt

Honoring Our 2016 Graduates

Don Haynes graduated with distinction from California Marymount University in Palos Verdes/San Pedro on May 7th with a B.A. in media studies. His work making promotional videos for the Port of Los Angeles continues. Don’s proud parents are Frances and Peter Haynes. Elisabetta Impagliazzo graduated from University of Tulsa with a B.S. in Nursing. Elisabetta will start work in September at children's Hospital, Los Angeles. Her garndmother, Dr. Anna Maria Ballin. is mighty proud! Elise Caldwell will graduate from Woodbridge High School June 2016. Elise was Track and Field Captain and Varsity Hurdler. She will be attending Santa Barbara City College, majoring in Communications. Proud parents are Susan and Stephen Caldwell. Best wishes to our daughter, Emily Faller, who graduates from JSerra Catholic High School this coming Saturday. She will be attending Franklin and Marshall in Lancaster, Pennsylvania this coming fall. Jill and Jan Faller, proud parents. Kathryn Fukuda will graduate June 8th from University High School, Irvine. Her proud grandmother, Frances Fukuda, said Katie will attend UC Riverside and major in Computer Science. Dr. and Mrs. William Fukuda are the proud parents. Eva Wierzbicki graduates from Orange County School of the Arts on June 16th. She will attend USC this fall, majoring in Cinematic Arts. Susan K. Brown is Eva’s proud mother. Cat Annerl leaves Middle School to be a Sea King at Corona del Mar High School. Anne Conover is her proud Mom. Matthew Ryan Kiper will be graduating from Mariners Christian School in June and will be attending Orange Lutheran High School in the fall. Kitty and Michael Kiper are his proud parents.
