Martina Kryževičiūtė is an interdisciplinary artist, performance creator, and teacher. Her work focuses on participatory, community-based, and socially engaging art. Through her creations, she explores the diversity of human social behavior and societal phenomena, drawing from her personal experiences.
Her artistic practice spans filmmaking, acting, singing, painting, and design. Martina's creative method is spontaneous and experimental, often employing modeling techniques where situations related to social and cultural contexts are intentionally staged and integrated into her work. To gain a deeper understanding of contemporary art and society, she uses both qualitative and quantitative interviews and applies methods of situational direction.
Martina is dedicated to developing the genre of social performance, where environmental scenography plays a crucial role. This artistic practice allows her to reflect specific experiences and social contexts. One of her notable projects is the social figure Milena – an art critic, journalist for the "Report Art" agency, content creator, and art influencer. Through Milena, Martina examines how evolving cultural and social trends shape society.
Martina's inclination toward interdisciplinarity emerged in her childhood. She played the violin and piano, drew, wrote poetry, and enjoyed reading and listening to music. However, her creativity extended beyond traditional forms – she would create alternative reality scenarios for her friends in the neighborhood. For instance, she "taught" Japanese, which was actually her own interpretation based on sounds from the anime series Dragon Ball Z. Her friends believed in her knowledge and even rewarded her with candies.
Another bold childhood experiment involved convincing her peers that she had a twin sister with whom she no longer spoke. To maintain the illusion, she would rush home, change clothes, and return as a completely di erent character.
At the age of 13, Martina played music at funerals, baptisms, and even on the streets to earn money. However, this type of performance did not resonate with her, and she soon abandoned it.
Martina Kryževičiūtė calls herself a "life actress." Every day and every environment becomes a stage where she consciously performs the script of the day, filled with improvisation, surprises, and comical situations. She easily communicates with people from various social backgrounds and institutions, engaging in collaborations that range from working with real estate agencies to teaching music at a school in Vilnius.
From her childhood performances to her conscious direction of everyday life, these experiences naturally extend into her artistic practice. Today, Martina experiments with environmental scenography, creating situations that encourage audience engagement and expand the boundaries of art and world perception.

SPECULATIVE DESIGN COMPANY
In 2024, designer Lukas Jusčius founded the speculative design company Report-Art, co-founded by interdisciplinary artist Martina Kryževičiūtė.
Report-Art stands out for its unique approach, bridging contemporary art and society. The project was developed with the support of artist, designer, engineer, founder of the Lithuanian Space Agency, Julijonas Urbonas.
This initiative was driven by research in contemporary art, participation in cultural events, and dialogue with artists and audiences. A growing gap between the art community and the wider public was noticed. To address this, an entertainment-educational platform was launched to make art more accessible. Through engaging, satirical, yet educational content, artists aim to bring art to a broader audience.

MILENA A SOCIAL SCULPTURE
Milena is an activist, Report Art journalist, performance content creator, and influencer exploring the impact of shifting cultural and social trends on society. She utilizes performativity and attention-capturing techniques to study human behavior through practical experiments in the cultural field.
Social sculpture* is an artistic concept developed by the German artist Joseph Beuys. It encompasses the idea that every person can be an artist, actively shaping society as a work of art.

TV SHOW DISCOURSE OF PERFORMANCE
Short Film, 7 min. 2024
Watch professional artists and their audience. Listen to their conversations and misunderstandings, and turn it into a fictional TV talk show. Do people in the art world speak in a way that the audience understands? Why do we get bored when art is discussed on TV? In this work, I aimed to reflect discussions about art. I created typical art world characters and gave them real or confusing dialogues about contemporary art. I want to ask the viewer: do you find what you see and hear in art discussions interesting?

PILĖNAI
Performance, 40 min. 2024
Artists Matas Dirginčius and Naubertas Jasinskas reinterpret the story of Pilėnai*, recognizing the possibility of history repeating itself and the ongoing threats to our nation, the performance deconstructs rigid notions of masculinity. The creators raise the question: how can we develop new models of interaction that emphasize openness, sensitivity, and empathy?
Pilėnai* were an ancient Lithuanian tribe known for their resistance against the Teutonic Order. In 1336, after a long siege, they chose death over surrender when their fortress fell, becoming a symbol of Lithuania's fight for freedom.

WOMAN ON THE URINAL
Performance, 40 min. 2024
On February 9, 2024, in a youth club bathroom in Vilnius, I created an experiential art piece titled Woman on the Urinal.
Dressed as a man, I urinated in a urinal placed in an open space.
The artwork did not have clear instructions for the viewers or participation, but the participants themselves formed a social connection with the art object. The changing participants became co-authors of the artistic space and tools for exploring a social phenomenon.
The men in line behind me recognized the woman in me, as I was facing away from the urinal while urinating. They became uncomfortable and, with their bodies, tried to shield me from the gaze of the other men in line.
But that evening, I was a man—so why did my behavior disturb them so much?
