SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- A man walked into a Simi Valley Walgreens, put on a Halloween mask and robbed a pharmacist for drugs last week.
Simi Valley Police said a suspect entered a Walgreens store at 2417 Cochran Street at about 5:27 p.m. Saturday. The man walked around the store for a period of time, then put on a Halloween mask. With the mask on, the suspect jumped over the pharmacy counter and demanded the pharmacist give him oxycodone pills. Fearing for his safety, the pharmacist gave the suspect several prescription pill bottles of the drug. The suspect then fled. No weapon was used. No one was injured. FILLMORE, Calif. (KABC) -- A Castaic woman was conned out of $2,500 by two people in a lottery scam in the city of Fillmore last week. Fillmore Police said a 55-year-old Hispanic woman from Castaic was approached on the 400 block of Central Avenue in Fillmore on October 17 by a Hispanic man. A Hispanic woman walked up and joined the two, pretending not to know the man. The male suspect convinced the victim he had a lottery ticket worth hundreds of thousands
of dollars but needed help cashing it because of his undocumented immigration status. With the female suspect’s encouragement, the victim was talked into giving the man money as a good faith payment toward trusting her with the lottery ticket. The two suspects drove the victim to a bank, where she withdrew $2,500 and gave it to the man. The suspects then drove the victim to a residence and tricked her into getting out of the car to meet with residents of the home, police said. The SCAM, See page 12A
SIMI VALLEY, Calif. (KABC) -- Simi Valley police are warning residents of a man impersonating police and scamming elderly people by phone. There have been two incidents. In both cases, a man identifying himself as a Ventura police officer told the potential victims that they failed to appear in court, and if they didn’t pay him
$2,000, he would arrest them. Police hope to make an arrest using the phone number the scammer has been using, which is (805) 286-8769. If you are contacted by someone calling from this number, police advise to politely tell the caller you are not falling for it. http://abclocal. go.com
