From our Year 9 to our Year 13 A-Level students, each will learn key study, research, leadership and teamwork skills which, along with our Super Curricular programme, focuses on preparing them for the next stage in their academic career.

All students will be assigned a Strategy Tutor who is the first point of contact with the college for both students and their families. They oversee a students’ academic progress, personal development and strategic pathway, playing an important role in helping students to decide which subjects are best for them. The Induction programme is designed to help you feel settled at OICB and to therefore make a confident start to your IGCSE and A-Level studies. You will have sessions on the three key pillars of our curriculum: Academic Excellence, Personal Development and Career Development.

OIC Brighton students receive more contact time than in most schools, and enjoy small classes, expert teachers and the career focus of their Strategic Global Pathway. These benefits, paired with the academic culture of the college, help to take our students to the height of their potential. We assess our students weekly through SCITs (Standardised Cumulative Interval Testing) to enable our students to see the progress that they are making in their subjects. They receive targets to support them in conversations about their learning with their strategy tutors. The data that is generated by SCIT assessments is used by our Academic Team to inform their teaching.

YEAR 9 Programme (Pre GCSE)

I have absolutely loved my first year at OIC Brighton. I enjoy the science lessons the most as we get to do so many practical experiments, which makes learning really exciting. It’s definitely helped me understand the topics better. Making friends in my first year has also been really easy – everyone’s so welcoming and there is such a lovely community.
Ali, Year 9

Our Pre-GCSE programme prepares our Year 9 students for success at GCSE level- and beyond. Our approach combines the highest standards of subject teaching with exceptional wellbeing support. This develops the knowledge and attributes our students need to progress on to the GCSE level. It also helps them refine valuable skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving and communication.

Maths and English are grouped by ability and Sciences are taught separately (Biology, Chemistry and Physics).

All of our students take mandatory classes in the core subjects:

• Maths

• English Language

• English Literature

• Sciences

• History

• Geography

• Art

• Drama

• Languages (Mandarin or Russian)

Baseline testing is conducted to stream students and give accurate target grades, and to identify learning support needs. Year 9 students take fortnightly assessments that might include a test under timed conditions, project work or a piece of writing. They also take mid-term and end-of-term assessments. Results are available every fortnight via Parent Portal.

Additional qualifications and academic programmes available to Year 9, both as part of the taught timetable and during the Super Curriculum, include: Duke of Edinburgh and LAMDA.

I chose to come to OIC Brighton because I wanted to be somewhere that would really push me academically and help me aim high. The teachers here are great – they know how to challenge you but also support you every step of the way.

Golie, Year 11

YEAR 12 & 13 Programme

Our A-level programme sets the standard for education, creating tailored pathways to the world’s top universities. In sixth form, our Year 12 and 13 students strive for excellence as they study for their A-levels.

Whichever subjects you choose, you’ll benefit from exceptional teaching in dynamic but focused classes. All our teachers are leaders in their subject field or specialism, who know how to inspire, motivate, and challenge each student to excel.

Additional qualifications and academic programmes available to Year 12 and 13, both as part of the taught timetable and during the Super Curriculum, include: Global Perspectives, IELTS, Duke of Edinburgh, LAMDA, own language AS and/or A Level, university entry papers and the EPQ.

Every OIC Brighton A-level student follows their own Global Strategic Pathway.

Based on Oxford International College’s highly successful model, we’ll map out your entire journey from start to finish. This creates a tailored academic and future-focused programme that’s based around your talents and ambitions.

This includes the A-level subjects you choose, which will depend on the degree course you have in mind. Our students typically take four subjects at AS-level, with exams at the end of Year 12. Learners then continue with three or four A-level subjects in Year 13, with final exams in the summer.

Our team will also provide the expert support you need to prepare for exams – and achieve impressive A-level results. You’ll sit weekly Standardised Cumulative Information Tests (SCITS), which replicate exam conditions, build confidence, and hone important techniques. These tests will also give your teachers an indication of how you’re progressing, as well as any areas for improvement.

What’s really stood out to me is how the lessons go above and beyond the usual curriculum. The teachers make the lessons genuinely interesting and connect it to real-world ideas and challenges. One of the things I’ve found most valuable here is the Super Curricular Programme. It really pushes you to think beyond the curriculum and explore your subjects in much more depth. Whether it’s through research projects, academic clubs or lectures, you get the chance to engage with ideas in a way that’s genuinely challenging and exciting.

Stefanie, Year 13

The Super Curricular Programme has helped me to develop a much broader perspective – not just in terms of academic knowledge, but in how I approach problems, think critically and connect ideas across different subjects. It’s made me more confident in expressing my opinions, asking the right questions and engaging in deeper discussions.

Marie, Year 12

As a leading premium international schools organisation, Nord Anglia is shaping a generation of creative and resilient global citizens who graduate from our schools with everything they need for success, whatever they choose to be or do in life.

Nord Anglia’s strong academic foundations combine world-class teaching and curricula with cutting-edge technology and facilities, creating learning experiences like no other.

Inside and outside of the classroom, we inspire our students to achieve more than they ever thought possible.

5 students have gone to UNICEF and 2 have gone to MIT – Mara, while in Year 11, was selected as part of a competitive process to attend a study trip to MIT organised through Nord Anglia Education. Mara dreams of studying at MIT in the future, so this was an unparalleled opportunity for her to work alongside like-minded students, gain insights into the innovative MIT approach and explore their world-class facilities.

My dream has always been to study at MIT, so getting the chance to spend a week there through the college’s collaboration with MIT was honestly life changing. It gave me a real taste of what its like to be part of that kind of environment, working on real-world problems, surrounded by intelligent minds and being encouraged to think in completely new ways.

- Mara, Year 13

As part of the Nord Anglia family of schools, we are pleased to offer students exciting enrichment opportunities through collaborations with some of the worlds most renowned organisations.

These include:

STEAM activities with the Michigan Institute of Technology (MIT)

Mountaineering and trekking expeditions, learning vital leadership and teamwork skills

Life-changing experiences to support Sustainable Development Goals in partnership with UNICEF

A TRULY GLOBAL CAMPUS

Nord Anglia’s exclusive online learning platform, Global Campus, enables students to connect and collaborate with over 80,000 students from across the world, giving them a unique opportunity to gain global perspective in creative and problem-solving projects.

WELLBEING at OIC Brighton

At OIC Brighton, we firmly believe that the foundation for achieving academic success is not just about achieving top grades, it lies in the health and happiness of each and every student.

Like the words in a stick of Brighton rock, wellbeing runs through the heart of everything that we do. Our approach is research-based, data-driven and student-centred. We collect and analyse data from teachers, house parents and tutors on every student through our online system and combine this with student input through the Cambridge wellbeing check. This allows us to build a picture of student

wellbeing and to intervene with support where necessary.

Our Deputy Principal (Pastoral and Wellbeing), Head of Boarding and team of Strategy Tutors work with our students to promote a culture of self-care, respect and equality, creating an environment in which students feel fully supported and ready to take on any challenge.

A focus on well-being is built directly into the Super Curricular programme, with dedicated weekly sessions that promote mental and physical health in addition to those valuable global life skills.

Like everything else we do, our five ways to wellbeing at OICB is based on data and the internationally renowned New Economics Foundation Model.

THE SEA

The coast is just 10 minutes away, so students can experience the fresh sea air of the English Channel every day. For those who love water sports, there are plenty of local clubs for our students to join, with a marina and beaches just down the road.

The location of OIC Brighton is perfect. Being nestled in the countryside gives us a calm and focused environment to study in. At the same time, we’re only 10 minutes from the centre of Brighton. What I love most is we get to use the outdoor space around us- sometimes we take our lessons outside.

Lynn, Year 12

GCSE Results

50% A*-B

30% Top Grade 9 in Biology

85% Grade 7-9 in English as a Second Language

100% Grade 8-9 in two subjects

We are proud to share the outstanding achievements of our first full cohort of GCSE students at OIC Brighton.

This year marks an important milestone as we celebrate the success of both our inaugural two-year GCSE cohort and those exceptional students who completed the course in just one year. Their results reflect not only the students’ hard work, resilience, and determination, but also the expertise and commitment of our teaching team.

Our students are exceptionally well prepared to thrive in the next stage of their educational journey at A Level.

KAMILA

Achieved 2 A*, A, 9, 8, 8, 7, 6, B

I appreciate the support the college has given me in achieving this result. My Biology teacher has a unique way of making complex concepts clear and enjoyable. I’m truly grateful for their dedication and encouragement.

A-LEVEL Results

More than 70% of grades achieved were at A*–B, with 30% of students earning three or more A*/A grades.

Our Year 13 students will now go on to study a range of subjects including Medicine, Robotics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Pharmacy, Zoology, PPE, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Economics.

Destinations include globally renowned universities such as Imperial College London, University College London, the London School of Economics, the University of Warwick, the University of Edinburgh and the University of Hong Kong.

Among our many success stories:

4 A*s and will study Medicine at Hong Kong University

3 A*s and 1 A , securing a place to study Chemistry at Imperial College London.

3 A*s and 1 A , and will study Biochemistry at University College London.

72% A*-B 1/3 of students receiving 3 or more A*/A

100% A*/A in 3 subjects

These results are the culmination of two years of hard work, resilience, and remarkable growth. Not only are they leaving us with the academic knowledge they need to excel at university, but they have developed a rich portfolio of skills, experiences and achievements that will ensure they fulfil all their ambitions. This year’s cohort will always hold a special place in our community as our first ever graduating students.

UNIVERSITY Destinations

At our college, ambition finds its true expression in achievement.

Our students will progress to the world’s leading universities, where they pursue a breadth of disciplines that reflects both their individual passions and the strength of their preparation. From the precision of biochemistry and medicine to the critical perspectives of history and economics, their journeys embody intellectual curiosity in its fullest form.

What sets our students apart is not only their academic success, but the enduring skills they acquire here—independence of thought, resilience in challenge, and the confidence to lead. These qualities ensure that they do not simply thrive at university, but continue to excel long beyond it, shaping their chosen fields with purpose and distinction.

Our results affirm what we know to be true: ambition nurtured here translates into opportunity everywhere.

Behind each destination is a story of determination, curiosity, and growth. Whether it’s a love of science sparked in the lab, or a fascination with the past nurtured in the classroom, our students leave us not only with strong results but with the skills to thrive;confidence, independence, and the ability to think for themselves.

“It was a happy moment, and that’s what matters most. I’d like to extend my deepest gratitude to all members of staff for your unwavering support. He truly had a wonderful time at college, and yes, he will definitely stay in touch.
