“Last season couldn’t have gone any better, other than winning the last game, as we made it to the Championship and ended our season where every team wants to, and we achieved our goal of taking our team to another level.

Our strength will be in the defensive backfield. Our weakness will probably be in the offensive and defensive lines. Coach’s Season Outlook “We have many of our key players returning with many girls eager to fill in the missing pieces. I feel that we have more confidence coming off a record setting season for our team and school, and the girls now know what it takes to make it to state. Our focus is team play this season. We are pushing for our girls to embrace the idea that you have to have an unselfish mindset, and do what it takes to help the team and forget about the personal stats,” said Bishop Neumann Coach Dave Brabec.

“It could be a fun year. The boys have great potential, but health will be important. Colton has a chance to be a state placer and win some meets this season, while Jacob has always been steady.

I am anxious to see those sophomores improve from a year ago and who will be our sixth. Hopefully the girls can stay healthy and maybe improve their team standings as the season goes along,” said Yutan Coach Rod Henkel.

Coach’s Season Outlook “We return a good core of defensive players and our backfield is experienced, but we only have 11 upperclassmen. The good news is we have 30 underclassmen so the future looks promising. We will have to play a lot of sophomores and freshmen who will need to grow up fast to compete in our district. Every team we play this year made the playoffs last year so we have a challenging schedule, but we hope to get better each game,” said Yutan Coach Dan Krajicek.

“On the boys side, we lost one from last year’s state team to graduation and two are playing football. If we had the two who are playing football, we would be considered one of the early contenders for conference and districts. However, we will now need to rebuild since we are counting on two inexperienced runners to complete the team. Hunter Arias is showing great leadership and could be our top placers at the meets. He has the potential to be a state qualifier. For the girls, we have two state qualifiers back (Haylee was 13th last year and Miranda qualified as a freshman but was hurt her soph year so could not run.) Both are strong runners and will do well this year. Newcomer Mine Nanke will have to adjust to the extra distance from Jr High CC to High School CC but comes from a family of runners..” said Raymond Central Coach Dale Rasmussen

“Losing three-year state placer, Ronnie Brust, will be difficult, but sister, Hannah, looks ready to take on the number one role. Senior, Joelle Anderson, also looks in the best shape of her career, so I expect big things from her throughout the season. For the boys, returning four letter winners from a year ago is definitely a plus. Thomas McAtee looks primed and ready-to-roll, and senior newcomer, Dillon Rademaker, is pushing Thomas on a daily basis. These two gentlemen will provide us with a strong one two punch.

Coach’s Season Outlook

“This team brings a lot of experience into this season. Of the 14 players on the squad, 13 played last year. The team, including four returning letter winners, has improved in the offseason and has a lot of talent and leadership, especially at the top of the lineup. From top to bottom, we have the talent to be competitive with teams across the state. One key will be having a few younger players step up into varsity roles that were vacated by graduating seniors last year. If that happens, this team could be in for a very successful year.” said Waverly Head Coach Tammy Tegler

“We have a lot of new golfers this year who are just learning the game. It should be a season of improvement. Sam Boss has been with the program for four years so she should be our best golfer. Great group of people to work with, and I am optimistic that this will be a fun season,” said Waverly Head Coach Jacque Kidder
