Active, Beautiful, Clean (ABC) Waters

Introduction

ABC Waters is a unique program implemented in Singapore that focuses on transforming water bodies such as canals, reservoirs, and lakes into Active, Beautiful, and Clean (ABC) spaces. The program aims to enhance the quality of water bodies while creating aesthetically pleasing environments for the community.

The ABC Waters program is closely connected to sustainability as it adopts a holistic approach that considers multiple aspects of water management and urban development. It incorporates various sustainable practices such as Low Impact Development (LID), Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS), and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) to achieve its objectives.

Singapore's ABC Waters program draws inspiration from these concepts and adapts them to the country's urban environment. By implementing LID, SUDS, and WSUD practices, the program aims to mitigate flood risks, improve water quality, enhance biodiversity, and create attractive spaces for the community. Mandai is home to the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Safari.

The Mandai Project will build on the concept of Singapore as a city in a garden by rejuvenating this treasure into a complete nature destination.

It will be a haven for Singaporeans from all walks of life – join us to celebrate and protect our biodiversity while being immersed in nature in a fun and inspiring way.
