In 2010, the South Central Scholarship Program supported a record 53 college scholarships for outstanding students in Texas and Louisiana, and 13 scholarships in Oklahoma and Arkansas. Thirty-one scholarships were renewed and 37 new scholarship applications were awarded, totaling $131,000. This program assisted families and individuals affected by MS by financially supporting educational goals, and, in turn, helped engage young people – including many up-andcoming doctors and researchers – in the ongoing work of the National MS Society.
