On behalf of the Board of Directors, management, staff, and volunteers, we welcome you to our 2022-2023 Season.

Now entering our 18 th season, NPAC has hosted hundreds of concerts and events since opening our doors in December 2004. The center has added a renewed vibrancy to our region by offering many opportunities for our patrons and students to celebrate the arts. In addition to our season performances, NPAC serves as the primary performance venue for numerous community and school events.

We are grateful for the support of our patrons, sponsors and donors. Your patronage and support drives us to work to create memorable experiences for our guests. We are thankful for our staff and volunteers who are dedicated to making each performance a great experience.

MEET SCOTT NISWONGER Chairman and Founder

Scott Niswonger was born in Van Wert, Ohio where he learned to fly, soloing on his 16th birthday. During his aviation career, he has flown everything from J-3 Cubs to the Boeing 747.

He is a graduate from Purdue University with a degree in Aviation Technology and was awarded a Doctor of Technology in 2004. In addition, Mr. Niswonger earned a BS Degree in Business Administration from Tusculum University in 1986 and later was honored with an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in 2006. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from East Tennessee State University and a Doctorate of Humane Letters from the University of Tennessee.

After graduation from Purdue University, Mr. Niswonger moved to Greeneville, Tennessee as a corporate pilot for the president of The Magnavox Company. In 1973, Niswonger started a cargo airline, General Aviation, Inc. After selling General Aviation he became the Vice President of North American Operations for Flying Tiger Lines – a military contractor and global cargo airline. He later co-founded a second transportation company, Landair Services,

with an initial investment of $2,000; and in 1990 formed Forward Air Corporation. Those companies today have annual sales of over $2 billion. It’s impressive to note that Scott founded the first two companies to ever be taken public in Greene County’s 233-year history. Niswonger currently serves as Chairman Emeritus of Landair Transport, Inc. and Forward Air Corporation (NASDAQ:FWRD).

He is a former member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of First Horizon National Corporation (NYSE: FHN), the parent of First Tennessee Bank, an $87 billion financial services company. He is the Chairman of East Tennessee State University Board of Trustees and a 30-year Trustee of Tusculum University. At Purdue University he is a member of the President’s Council, Deans Council for Purdue University Polytechnic Institute, board member for the Purdue Research Foundation and is the Chairman of Purdue Aviation. Mr. Niswonger was inducted into the Tennessee Aviation Hall of Fame in 2019.

Scott Niswonger is also the Chairman of the Niswonger Performing Arts Center in Greeneville TN and serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of Ballad Health, a 21 hospital –healthcare enterprise with over 15,000 employees.

He is especially proud of the Niswonger Foundation that he established in 2001 to create opportunities for individual and community growth through education and other sustainable projects. This educational operating and charitable foundation currently has 15 scholars in universities across America and 86 alumni. The Foundation supports numerous programs and partnerships with school districts across the State of Tennessee. With federal, state and private grants, the Foundation will provide over $12 million in educational programming in the next fiscal year.

Niswonger is the lead benefactor for the Niswonger Children’s Hospital, which is home to one of only eight St. Jude Affiliate Clinics in the world.

With an exceptional level of involvement, businessman and philanthropist Scott Niswonger has made a positive impact for those who will follow.

Scott and his wife, Nikki, have 4 children and 8 grandchildren.

With back-to-back #1 singles from his breakthrough platinum-certified album in 1993, Neal McCoy exploded onto the country music scene. Six more Top 10 hits “For A Change,” “ They’re Playing Our Song,” “You Gotta Love That,” “ Then You Can Tell Me Goodbye,” “ The City Put the Country Back in Me,” and “ The Shake” followed. AIR SUPPLY

The trademark sound of Australia’s Russell Hitchcock’s soaring tenor voice and Graham Russell’s simple yet majestic songs create a unique sound that will forever be known as Air Supply. Anderson East, the Alabama-born, Nashville-based singer-songwriter’s seductively vintage voice is infused with R&B, gospel, and Southern soul. Maybe We Never Die is East’s first new music since his breakthrough album, Encore, which featured the Grammy-nominated #1 AAA radio single, “All On My Mind.” Rolling Stone declared, “On Encore, East’s influences meld seamlessly, stacking the album with Stax-worthy R&B grooves, gospel-blues ooohs and aaahs, surging keys and blasting brass.” New York Times praised the album as, “...an often lustrous revisiting of raucous Southern soul, rousingly delivered and pinpoint precise.”

GIRL NAMED TOM

Small-town sibling trio Girl Named Tom seeks to create harmony in a world divided. With their distinctive harmonies and heartfelt performances, Bekah, Joshua and Caleb Liechty won the hearts of America while becoming the only group to ever win NBC’s The Voice. In addition to their chart-topping covers (“River,” “ The Chain,” & “ Dust in the Wind ” among others), GNT writes original music that will almost certainly project them to becoming the best-known harmony trio of their generation.

With their debut EP, Another World, Girl Named Tom sweeps the listener into a reflective space, exploring fond memories, global issues, and intimate conversations. THE ROBERT CRAY BAND

Robert Cray has created a sound that rises from American roots and arrives today both fresh and familiar. In just over 40 years, Cray and his band have recorded 20 studio releases, 15 of which have been on the Billboard charts. They have toured the world sharing the stage with such esteemed artists as Tina Turner, John Lee Hooker, Keith Richards, and many more. Cray has also been honored with five GRAMMY® awards for his outstanding performance of blues guitar, which incorporates R&B and soul.

Cray is touring in support of his band’s most recent release, That’s What I Heard, which was issued in February 2020, just before the pandemic brought touring to a halt. The album’s opening track “Anything You Want ” is said to be classic Cray, presenting the soul so often found in his blues style and providing a pop-savvy melody.

KANSAS CLASSIC HITS TOUR

With a legendary career spanning nearly five decades, KANSAS has firmly established itself as one of America’s iconic classic rock bands. This “garage band” from Topeka released their debut album in 1974 and have gone on to sell more than 30 million albums worldwide. will hear KANSAS classics such as “Carry On Wayward Son,” “Dust in the Wind,” “ Point of Know Return,” “ Fight Fire with Fire,” deep cuts, and much more.

Composing a catalogue that includes sixteen studio albums and five live albums, KANSAS has produced eight gold albums, three sextuple-Platinum albums (Leftoverture, Point of Know Return, Best of KANSAS), one platinum live album (Two for the Show), one quadruple-Platinum single “Carry On Wayward Son,” and another triple-Platinum single “ Dust in the Wind.”

TOMMY EMMANUEL, CGP GUEST GARETH PEARSON

Two qualities define Tommy Emmanuel’s greatness. The first, predictably, is his extraordinary guitar playing. Considered to be among this planet’s greatest guitarists, his playing is simply miraculous, as it would take three musicians, or more, to do what he does solo. Who else can lay down the rhythm part, dig into the riff and sing the melody all at once on just one acoustic guitar? The second, and without which the first might not be as powerful or as infectiously appealing, is the joy.

It’s one thing to play these multidimensional arrangements flawlessly on an acoustic guitar but to do it with that smile of the ages, that evidence of authentic, unbridled delight, is an irresistible invitation to feel his music as deeply as he does. Although his expression is instrumental, he comes to the guitar much more like a vocalist, positively singing melodies through the strings. He inhabits the tunes he performs, delivering every nuance and turn of phrase.

From the very start of his career through chart-topping hits like “ Your Man,” “ Would You Go With Me,” “ Why Don’t We Just Dance,” and “All Over Me,” Josh Turner has immersed himself in country music’s history and its iconic figures.

Turner, while a multi-platinum-selling star himself, is a country music fan first and foremost. He’s even concocted his own version of Mount Rushmore conceived solely of country music legends. THE NUTCRACKER

Chattanooga Ballet returns to present The Nutcracker with their professional company, students from Chattanooga Ballet School and dancers from the Greeneville region.

Join Clara, a young girl at her parents’ Christmas party, who is gifted a Nutcracker doll from her godfather, Drosselmeyer. This begins a magical journey from the battlefield with the Rat King, to the Land of Snow and the Land of Sweets. See the amazing dolls that dance at the party, the mice as they scurry around and the beautiful snow as it flurries around stage. Experience the fun as children dance at the party, the fear as the Nutcracker begins to fall at the hands of the Rat King and the joy of all the sweets gathered to celebrate their young heroine! THE ISAACS

The Isaacs, a multi-GRAMMY® nominated family group with roots dating back to 1971, is composed of siblings Ben Isaacs, Sonya Isaacs Yeary and Rebecca Isaacs Bowman, and mother Lily Isaacs. Tight family harmonies blend with contemporary acoustic instrumentation creating a musical style influenced by many genres of music such as country, bluegrass, R&B, folk, contemporary, acoustic, and southern gospel.

The Isaacs are frequent guests on RFD Network’s Larry’s Country Diner and the Grand Ole Opry, and have appeared on the Gaither Homecoming videos and tours for over 20 years. The family has won nine Dove Awards and received GRAMMY® nominations for their past three albums, were inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame in 2020 and became members of the Grand Ole Opry in 2021. The Isaacs feel blessed to be able to travel and spread the message of hope and grace through song and story.

The Doo Wop Project begins at the beginning: tracing the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. In their epic shows, The Doo Wop Project takes audiences on a journey featuring foundational tunes from the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through the vocal artistry of Smokey Robinson, The Temptations, and The Four Seasons all the way to DooWopified versions of modern hits from Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz, Maroon 5, and Sam Smith.

Featuring stars from the Broadway hits Jersey Boys, Motown: The Musical, and A Bronx Tale, The Doo Wop Project brings unparalleled authenticity of sound and vocal excellence to recreate—and in some cases entirely reimagine—the greatest music in American pop and rock history.

HEATHER LAND

Comedienne, author, and singer Heather Land tells it like it is with sarcasm and Southern charm. Practically overnight, Heather burst through the clutter of the online world with her hilarious and witty videos.

Over the course of only a few months, Heather’s videos were shared by celebrities like Miranda Lambert and social tastemakers, immediately connecting with her down-to-earth personality and reaching hundreds of millions of people in the process.

Heather’s audience was first drawn in by her quick wit filtered through a high pitched SnapChat voice changer, but they have remained connected to her because of the way she shows us how to laugh at the chaos we all live through on a daily basis.

The words in her stories and songs reach the hearts of audiences across the country reminding us of the many ways that real life can be really hard and really funny.

Here’s a powerhouse country concert you won’t want to miss! Aaron Tippin, Collin Raye and Sammy Kershaw join forces to present an evening filled with stories and songs as they get back to the roots of their music.

Aaron, Collin, and Sammy have amassed almost 70 combined Top 40 hit singles. A JOURNEY TRIBUTE

Resurrection - A Journey Tribute, considered to be “The Gold Standard” by which all Journey tributes are measured, faithfully recreates the experience of a 1980s Journey concert. This dynamic and compelling band has featured some of Nashville’s hottest musicians, many of whom have performed, written, or recorded with the biggest names in the music industry including Journey and Steve Perry.

When founding member Paul Kantner formed Jefferson Starship in the 70s, he envisioned the band as a cast of musical adventurers, contributing to his epic concept albums and eventual deep catalog of rock classics. When the current lineup of the band came together alongside Kantner as a unit in 2012, with many members joining years before, he couldn’t have imagined that the band would become the road-conquering heroes they’ve been in the last few years.

Jefferson Starship’s five members describe themselves as both a “family” and a “gang,” and that comes across in talking to them, and in their robust live performances, which have taken them to all 50 U.S. states, five continents, and too many countries to list, drawing from a massive setlist of hit after hit. In addition to original member David Freiberg, the band includes drummer Donny Baldwin, keyboardist Chris Smith, guitarist Jude Gold, and singer and guitarist Cathy Richardson.

MARK LOWRY WITH ENDLESS HIGHWAY

Mark Lowry is known and loved around the world as a trusted voice in the realm of gospel music and beyond. He started making music at age 11 and now, more than four decades later, his legacy is forever sealed as an innately entertaining communicator who can, at once, make audiences laugh, cry and think.

In 2000, Gary Mullen won the Granada TV program Stars in Their Eyes with his performance as Queen’s lead singer: Freddie Mercury. Mullen’s embodiment of Mercury resulted in him gaining more than double the votes of the runner up in the show’s Live Grand Finale, setting an all-time record for votes in the history of the program.

Mark is a singer, storyteller, humorist, author, and songwriter, whose lyrics to “Mary Did You Know?” resulted in one of the most loved modern Christmas songs of this century. He has spent more than 20 collective years as the baritone singer for the GRAMMY ® award-winning Gaither Vocal Band.

Masters of Soul is a celebration of legendary songs and performers that defined Motown and soul music. This 90-minute show features stylishly costumed, fully choreographed performances of both male and female groups backed by a live band. For younger generations, the show offers an opportunity to experience an era in our country’s history that produced many of the greatest music acts ever recorded.

WILD WORLD OF ANIMALS STARRING GRANT KEMMERER & FRIENDS

Wild World of Animals is an exploration into the fascinating world of the wildlife we share with the planet; featuring live animals including some of the most majestic, interesting, bizarre, and critically endangered species in the world.

The fantastic animal lineup encompassing arthropods, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals are the real rock stars of Wild World of Animals. Grant Kemmerer brings about 16 guests to each show ranging from monkey, sloth, binturong (world’s largest prehensile-tail animal), porcupine, falcon, laughing kookaburra, tamandua, to the critically endangered red ruffed lemur. Included may also be some of the largest of their species such as the eagle owl, marine toad, and dictator scorpions; as well as a legless lizard, cobra, alligator, and a 100-year-old alligator snapping turtle.

Grant has performed live animal programs in 37 states for countless people, trained animals for movies and television, and is a guest lecturer for one of the leading ecotourism companies in the world.

Utilizing the multi-instrumentalists at their disposal, GTLO recreate the songs in all their depth and glory with the studio overdubs that Zeppelin themselves never performed. THE BEST SEAT IN TOWN

Niswonger Performing Arts Center has 1,150 seats and each one offers a great view of the stage. The choice is up to youOrchestra, Mezzanine or Balcony. Our entire staff is always prepared to ensure you enjoy your experience. NPAC strives to accommodate guests with special needs and/or disabilities. We provide accessible parking, ramped entrances, wheelchair seating, and ADA compliant restroom facilities. Assisted listening devices are also available. Please contact our box office for information and ticket availability.

All guests, regardless of age, must have a ticket. One person per seat or wheelchair space.

Mezzanine and Balcony levels are accessible via elevator; however, seating is stadium style and the ability to navigate stairs is necessary. All balcony seats, except for the front row, require stair access and are not wheelchair accessible. All mezzanine seats, except for the back row, require stair access and only the back row is wheelchair accessible. Patrons with walking difficulties or other mobility issues should not select Mezzanine or Balcony seating.

When purchasing Balcony seating, please note that for the safety of our guests, there is a guide wire system extending across the entire front row of the balcony and some views may be considered obstructed.
