ACCOMMODATION: Please see a list of local Hotels and Bed & Breakfasts on page 4. CONDITIONS OF SALE: This Sale is held subject to the conditions of Sale drawn up by the NBA and the Auctioneers’ General Conditions of Sale, both available on request. In the event of any discrepancy between the two sets of conditions, the NBA Conditions of Sale shall prevail. METHOD OF SALE: All Pedigree cattle will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and in strict catalogue order, unless any alterations are announced by the auctioneers. INSPECTION: A veterinary inspection will be carried out on all stock forward for sale. The examination will cover general health and genetic defects particularly teeth, eyes, testicles, warts and locomotion. Any animal found with a genetic fault, disease or disorder will be rejected. COMMISSIONS: The Auctioneers will dutifully execute commission to purchase for buyers unable to attend the sale personally, upon the receipt of written instructions. INSURANCE: A representative of the Auctioneers Insurance Brokers will be present at the sale to and will be pleased to quote Purchasers for transit and other risks. REGISTRATIONS: All Pedigree stock in the sale are registered with their respective Breed Society. PEDIGREE TRANSFERS AND FEES: LINCOLN RED: A transfer fee per animal of £10 + VAT shall be paid by the purchaser (please see page 9 when you purchase Lincoln Red Cattle). LONGHORN: a fee of £15 + VAT shall be paid by both the vendor and the purchaser pedigree certificates will only be transferred on payment of the transfer fee.

UPSET PRICE: A minimum selling price will apply as follows for the respective breeds: LINCOLN RED CATTLE – In-calf heifers 1000gns; and maiden heifers 750gns. SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK: Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of the Sale. No animal may leave the Sale Premises without an official ‘Pass Slip’, obtainable only from the Auctioneers upon settlement. Purchasers unable to remove their stock on the day of sale can arrange overnight accommodation with the Auctioneers on the understanding that all cattle are at the Purchasers’ risk. RESERVE PRICES: Vendors shall have the right to accept the final bid for their animals. The auctioneers reserve the right to charge half commission on the amount of the final bid in the case of animlas which fail to reach the Vendors reserve price. EVERY BULL entered for the Sale MUST BE ADEQUATELY TRAINED TO BE LED BY HALTER. All bulls must be provided with a serviceable halter, which will become the property of the Purchaser. UK TAGS: All cattle entered for the Sale will have their UK Tags examined as an integral part of the pre-sale inspection procedure. Any marks found to have faulty, incorrect or illegible marks will be REJECTED from the sale. Vendors are therefore urged, in their own best interest, to examine the tattoo marks of the sale cattle before the animal(s) leave their holding so that faulty marks can be rectified in accordance with the required Society procedures. The proceeds of Sale are guaranteed by the Auctioneers, who will account to Vendors on the day of the Sale. Such guarantee however, does not extend to the animals sold for export, to which special conditions apply. STRAW: Straw will be provided by the Auctioneers at £4 per head. SOCIETY SALE LEVY: Will be charged on the following breeds and deducted from the vendor's statement before settlement and paid direct to the respective breed society: Lincoln Red Cattle 2%. Longhorn Type Classification Scheme Type classification has been standard practice for many years and is seen as a clear, understandable method of grading cattle using independent assessors. By having their cattle graded, members gain a better understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of their cattle and can then select and breed accordingly to improve not only their own cattle, but in turn the national population of Longhorns. Cattle are assessed for conformation and they are awarded an overall grade (eg VG, EX) and a numerical score. Once an animal has been graded he/she does not need to be re-presented but can be put forward for re-inspection if the owner wishes. No animal's score can go down on subsequent inspections, they can only either stay the same or go up. For this reason first calved heifers are scored more 'severely' to allow room for manoeuvre. Animals that have been reclassified and have a score higher than their original score are marked with an asterix *. Health rules for the Longhorn Cattle Society Autumn Show & Sale All cattle entered for the Society’s Show & Sale either have to be blood tested or vaccinated (where applicable) for IBR, Leptospirosis, BVD & Johne’s no more that 60 days prior to the sale, or in a CHeCS approved health scheme. Testing for Neospora is recommended but not compulsory Information on test results will be in the catalogue if the results are received prior to publication, or available from the vendor on the day of sale. Interested buyers and sellers are encouraged the discuss the health status of the seller’s herd. To that effect, sellers should have a copy of the blood test results and Health Scheme accreditation with them at the sale. All cattle must be pre-movement tested for TB, irrespective of the vendor’s TB test interval.
