LOCATION: The sale will be held in the Borderway Mart, Carlisle Cumbria. Motorists should leave the M6 at Junction 43 and follow CARLISLE signs. The Market is on the left hand side of the road within 1/4 mile of M6.

VIEWING - The Sale Sheep will be available for viewing at Borderway Mart, Carlisle and on Thursday 12th December between 4pm and 7pm and on the morning of the sale. Prior inspection of the sheep is most welcome, please contact vendors direct.

HOTELS - There are many hotels within the area, ranging from four star to excellent Bed and Breakfast accommodation, a list of which may be found in the catalogue.

CONDITIONS OF SALE - Sold under the conditions of sale as displayed in the market, recommended by the Livestock Auctioneer’s Committee for England and Wales. The Pedigree and Description of each lots are believed to be correct.

METHOD OF SALE - All sheep will be sold in guineas (105 pence) and strictly in catalogue order, unless any alteration is announced by the Auctioneers.

TRANSFERS - A transfer fee of £5 (+VAT) per sheepis payable by the purchaser and paid to BTSS. COMMISSIONS - The Auctioneers will dutifully execute commissions to purchase for buyers unable to attend the sale personally, upon receipt of written instructions.

SETTLEMENT AND CLEARANCE OF STOCK - Settlement in full is due immediately at the close of Sale. No animal may leave the Sale Premises without an official ‘Pass Slip’, obtainable only from the Auctioneers upon settlement.

This is our fifth production sale, alongside the flocks of Whatmore and Jonsland.

Our Sapphire sale entries originate from the very foundation and the beating heart of our maternal flock genetics. The very same genetics, since establishing the flock in 2013, which have utterly astounded us all, with their consistent quality offspring. In turn, these have excelled and propelled the Hackney Blue Texel flock quickly to the fore, with numerous show accolades and top sale prices and averages.

The ‘Cherry on the top’ is when they have also been highly successful within other pedigree and commercial flocks.

Two truly memorable showing highlights of 2019 are; Blue Texel Overall Champion Royal Highland Show 2019, for the third successive year. Joe’s Alvin won 2017, followed by 2 of his daughters in 2018 and 2019 Hackney Classy.

Hackney Classy also won Blue Texel Female Champion, and Overall Bred Champion Royal Welsh Show 2019, within the prestigious interbreed Championships, she also won Reserve Overall Continental Champion and Reserve Overall Champion of Champions, Individual Supreme Royal Welsh Show 2019.

Her full sister Hackney Caryls sells as Lot 652.

Two major highlights from our sale ring success stories are; Topping at 3000gns twice at Sapphire Sale 2018 average £1500.

Winning Overall Female Champion and Reserve Champion at the Northern Supreme Sale August 2019 and selling to 3000gns. Another impressive average in exess of £1600 for 8 shearling rams and gimmers.

Matthew Jones sold an aged ewe Hackney Yoko for 2900gns, that he purchased as a ewe lambs from us in 2015. Her progeny also sold to top prices at the Northern Spectacular and Worcester Society Sales where they also won Overall Champion and Reserve Champion.

A huge debt of gratitude must go to Aled and Holly for all their combined consistent hard work and total dedication, which on numerous times has suppased all any expectations. Our humbling though, greatly appreciated success story from within our 4 pedigree flocks would in no way happen or be possible, without the astounding contributions of all these two amazing and highly talented shepherds, who we in turn consider with great pride as our extended family.

JONSLAND FLOCK D & J JONES We would like to extend a warm welcome to our joint Production sale of Blue Texel in Lamb Gimmers and Ewe Lambs in conjunction with the Whatmore and Hackeny flocks. We extend our thanks to all who have helped us prepare for this sale especially Steve and Sara Gibbons and Chirs Davies.

The Jonsland flock was established in 2006 with the emphasis on good confirmation and tight skins.

We have increased our flock by only purchasing the best sheep we can find and by selecting our best ewes for embryo transfer.

Although we only go to very few shows and sales, we have had great success over the years with the highlights being, winning Supreme champion twice at the Royal Welsh Show, which is one of the biggest shows of Blue Texels in the country.

We use home bred rams I the commercial flock at Tynybryn. We sell to commercial breeders, and many buy from us regularly, producing prime lambs with premium weights and grades. We have also sold to some of the top pedigree flocks.

We intend to keep our flock small and to be very selective with our breeding, always concentrating on quality.
