FAR-INFRARED TECHNOLOGY

Negative-Ion Technology — also referred to as Ionic Comfort Technology in some Nikken products — makes use of materials or processes that produce negative ions, which are charged oxygen atoms or molecules. High amounts of these ions are found in certain settings, such as forests and near waterfalls. Scientists have long studied the relationship between negative ions in the air and human comfort.

Nikken Far-Infrared Technology features speciallymade, ceramic-reflective fibres that absorb energy from multiple sources — sunlight, room temperature, body heat — and reflect that energy only within the far-infrared range of the spectrum.

It’s a solution that provides gentle, natural warmth yet releases excess heat, to afford comfort at all times in a wide range of ambient conditions.

Negative ions appear to contribute to positive changes in mood and behaviour. Another way that negative ions may promote heath is that allergy-provoking particles such as dust and pollen possess a positive electrical charge. When negative ions are introduced to the environment, they appear to counteract the allergenic effects of these positively charged ions.

As the reflective materials used in Far-Infrared Technology reflect only this far-infrared light, the gentle warming effect is often not detectible to the senses. A consistent, mild warmth has been shown to be efficacious in helping to relax tensed or strained muscles, tendons and joints.
