Environmental Management Committee

The Environmental Management Committee is tasked with ensuring that the Association’s forest and green areas are respected and preserved for their beauty and wildlife habitat. To this purpose a subcommittee has been put together as outlined below: Open Space Subcommittee This committee is to be a sub-committee of TLCA’s Environmental Committee. Its purpose would be to:

1) Create an inventory of all community-owned open spaces including passive and active recreational spaces, trails, and natural areas/woodlands, as well as privately-owned vacant lots;

2) Identify and recommend best management practices (BMPs) for our forested ecosystem by availing itself of information and expertise available from various Pennsylvania agencies; 3) Identifyspecificareas, such as the nature trail, that would benefit from community assisted (volunteer) projectsand develop educational programs regarding the scope and sequence of the projects and the recruitment of the volunteers;

4) Offer an information and referral services to TLCA members regardingBMPsforindividual properties which encourage the reestablishment of native plant species;

5) Develop a communitywide program which informs and engages property owners in invasive species monitoring and management, containment, and/or eradication;

6) Develop recommendations concerning ways in which, to the extent practicable, programs and projects might be funded without impacting annual assessments.

The Subcommittee works within the Environmental Committee who then recommends policies and procedures to the Board of Directors.
