Hello Spring!

Joe D’Alto, Security Chairman
Thankfully, we are nearing the end of a long hard winter. We had to deal with below freezing temperatures, ice, and snow storms. Sometimes we don’t realize the burden it puts on our ranger staff. In addition to their regular duties, they have to deal with fallen trees, downed power lines, icy road conditions, assisting residents who have fallen, cars sliding into snow banks, and blocking off roads that might be dangerous. Sometimes we take these actions for granted, but these are the things that make the village such a safe and wonderful place to reside. Now that the spring is nearing, they will be busy patrolling the lakes and assisting in the many activities the village provides. I would personally like to thank Regina and her staff for all the hard work they do day in and day out to keep our community safe.
On the down side, the speeding, failure to stop at the stop signs, and reckless driving continue to be a problem. In the near future, we will be discussing adding electronic signage, reflective stop signs on Lake and Stag, and a few other things to increase safety. Our main concern is the safety of our residents and the many people who vacation here. We can all help by observing speed limits, full stop at stop signs, and being respectful to other drivers. Remember, after a tragedy happens, it’s too late!
That being said, let’s all get ready for the spring and summer, and all the wonderful things the village and the Poconos have to offer!
