Hustle!!!

It’s what small business owners need to do! Whether you are a regular reader of Nifnex print edition or it’s the first edition you have seen in the past 5 years of our publishing journey, I welcome you all. This edition has been compiled for the business expo on the 8th July at Ascot and has a number of articles contributed by our members and also by the ATO & Workcover WA. Hustle!! That’s the word the year. It’s one word that small business owners seem to be lacking. Have you seen a photograph or video of the wall street office? What about the movie The Wolf of Wall Street? There is a sense of urgency in what they do. Many Small business owners have goals, aspirations, to-do lists, dreams and sometimes even the right attitude but they lack the urgency. They think they are hustlers but sadly many are not. “We can all hustle... number of zeroes we hustle for are different” Zeeshan Pasha

It’s worth a visit to a sales team environment in any organisation driven by sales. (especially end of the month). They are trying to close deals, looking at who else they can contact to get over the line and sign the dotted line... The point i am trying to make is, we don’t hustle enough as if we have a boss watching and KPI (key performance indicators) to reach. We take each day as it comes and work as if yes we can do it tomorrow....tomorrow we make the calls, send emails, check LinkedIn and Facebook, have a coffee with a ‘prospect’, shake hands and promise to be in touch and that’s the end of the day. Where is the hustle? Where is the urgency and the drive to close a sale? Each and everything we do, needs to have a sense of urgency and calm. How do you do that? Well, it’s an art. We all have it in

us....It’s called Being Authentic. How can you be authentic and still hustle? Ok, i am not saying try closing every prospect, friend and your neighbours. But it begins with knowing you can truly make a difference to your client. Anyone you meet is an influencer to a prospective client. How can you pitch yourself without coming across salesy? It starts with your passion to help... Make it clear that you are hustling to help people. Show your passion for what you do. Have clear objectives to why you are meeting a prospect. A coffee chat shouldn’t end with “Yes, lets just keep in touch”. It needs to end with ‘I will put you in touch with so-and-so’ and will email you about what we discussed, so we can help each other’ That’s the very least. Maintaining a CRM and keeping track of who you meet, documenting the result of the meeting will help you track productivity and also manage the relationships with key people that refer and engage with you. Ensure you don’t go easy on yourself and make sure you pretend you have a boss who will crack the whip if you don’t meet your KPI / goals for the day/week/month. Have an accountability partner... who could crack the whip if needed. No one wants to be whipped... well, then again some do. Point i am making is that you need to hustle... hustle... hustle... bring some urgency into your work and go close some deals! To your success!

Are you ready for SuperStream?

If you’re running a business with fewer than 20 employees you need to be SuperStream ready by 28 October 2016 (previously 30 June 2016). What’s SuperStream? In a nutshell SuperStream is a new electronic system that all employers must use when making superannuation contributions for their employees. In the past most employers have had to process employee super contributions to multiple superannuation funds with each fund using a different method for receiving and processing those contributions.

SuperStream changes all of that. All data will now be sent electronically in a standardised format designed to make it simpler for employers to make super contributions. While it may take some work to get up and running, in the long run SuperStream is set to make life easier for small business owners. Basically, SuperStream will allow employers to use a single channel for making contributions to multiple super funds, drastically cutting down time spent dealing with data issues, fund queries and basic admin (according

to the Australian Small Business Commissioner the average small business spends between 50-100 hours annually on super contribution issues ). SuperStream will ensure that employee contributions are processed faster and more efficiently, with less room for error and is set to benefit employees too, reliably linking them to their super, reducing the number of lost accounts and unclaimed money. From October 28th simply sending your employee super contributions by EFT or BPAY is not a guarantee of SuperStream compliance. Even if you’re already paying contributions electronically you may not be sending the fund the correct information about those contributions required under SuperStream.

If you’re not yet SuperStream compliant time’s running out and you may want to consider getting some help. WA Super is currently offering a free consultation to any Western Australian business unsure of their obligations with regards to SuperStream compliance. Call 08 9480 3500 (or 1300 99 85 42 if you’re outside the Perth metro region) or visit www.123superstream.com

Poor customer service sure bet you’ll lose the match Chris Smoje // Dime Customer Service Not investing in customer service training could be doing more longterm damage to your business game plan than you realise. It’s not just about being unrealistic wishing for a dream team to appear in front of you, there has to be some sort of well calculated plan. But often, business owners are not always clear what success looks like for their organisation or ‘team’. Think about customer service as winning a football match. You need a coach, game plan, training sessions, feedback at half-time, and a post-match review. The main problem is significant time and resources are required, something that business owners are unable to commit to in the current climate. Some business owners also lack credibility to be able to communicate and lead change in their organisation, especially when it directly effects the front line. You hear so many failed stories of businesses who try so hard with targets and measurements on customer

satisfaction, yet don’t see the long term results. Businesses that want to make a start in transforming customer service could start by following some simple steps: • Appoint someone in the business who can take ownership in aligning all customer service efforts, communicating the vision and celebrating successes

Author’s Bio // Chris Smoje is a customer service speaker, trainer, facilitator and founder of the DIME™ Customer Service approach. Chris works with organisations and their people to develop a common interest and excitement about delivering exceptional customer service results. For more information visit www. dimecustomerservice.com

• Monitor the changing behaviours of customers by keeping connected with the front line • Develop a game plan that its open to tweaking and change as required • Align processes and measurements to focus on customer satisfaction not just loyalty. It’s absolutely a balancing act to get everything right, especially when it comes to investing dollars in this economic climate. As long as business owners and their ‘team’ have a common interest in creating positive change and transforming their customer service, anything is possible.

Selling Your Business in the Current Market Sales & Customer Service

Dale Wilcox // 0417 269 888 Remax Central The current market for business sales in Perth is being impacted by a number of factors. The downturn in the mining industry has impacted the financial performance of businesses across a range of industries and prospective business buyers are very cautious, given the perception of economic uncertainty. There is, however, demand for businesses that are well priced and with good long term prospects. According to Business Values Newsletter (April 2016 edition) businesses in demand include Accountancy Practices, Information Technology, Manufacturers, Caravan parks, Service businesses, Childcare and Coffee shops. When searching for a business, Buyers tend to define what attributes they are looking for and to search on that basis.

These attributes include, for example: •A five day week – to enable them to maintain a balanced lifestyle •E asy to operate – businesses that do not require much specialised or technical skill other than the ability to manage •A regular, repeat order customer base. Businesses that require a tender to be completed for every sale, for example, can be difficult to sell • L ong established with a well recognised business name •R ecession proof. Businesses providing health, care or education services, for example, tend to be less impacted by fluctuations in the economy Many Buyers are, by nature, risk averse. Some may have never owned a business before and most have heard stories about all of the risks and stresses involved in owning a business. Many are, however, also attracted by the dream of owning a business, building wealth and controlling

their own destiny. Sellers, on the other hand, tend to see their business as “their creation”. They understand what the risks are and have a clear idea of the future potential of the business. There is no single “right” price for a business. The ultimate price will be what a willing Buyer is prepared to pay and a willing Seller is prepared to accept. Given the different motivations and perceptions of the two parties, some skill is required to get both parties to a point where a “win-win”solution is found ie the price is acceptable and the risks (real or perceived) have been addressed or minimised. Specific knowledge and experience is also required to then coordinate the process to settlement. This can require the resolution of numerous issues that might arise, such as the transfer of employment contracts, assignment of leases and transfer of customer and key supplier contracts. That is where the services of an experienced Business Broker can be invaluable.

Top small business tips for EOFY

James Solomons // Xero Australia

Here are a few tips to help you get through the period as easily as possible, and hopefully save your business some money and plan for an even better year ahead.

Everyone employed by your business (including you, depending on your business structure) needs to receive a PAYG payment Summary to be able to lodge their personal tax return. You’ll need to reconcile your payroll and provide these payment summaries to your employees by the due date in July, usually the 14th. Before you provide PAYG Payment Summaries, reconcile the totals to your business accounts including the amounts withheld and reported at W2 on your Business Activity Statements. EOFY is also a great time to check your business insurance requirements. If your business circumstances have changed, you may need to update your level of cover.

Get your records organised early

Plan ahead

An important part of being a small business owner is ensuring you are compliant with all business laws, including those about record-keeping. You will need to summarise your income and expenses in a profit and loss statement, list your debtors and creditors, show records of your asset purchases to calculate depreciation expense claims and complete your Business Activity Statements (a bookkeeper or accountant is your best friend here). Consider keeping electronic records, stored in the cloud, to save yourself time and space.

Another part of record-keeping is recording your stock levels. If your business buys or sells stock you’ll have to conduct a stocktake unless your turnover is less than $2m and the change in value is less than $5,000. This is because the value of your stock plays a role in determining your profit or loss for the year. Conducting a stocktake is often a long and laborious task, so plan ahead, communicate with your customers early if your stocktake means you need to change your business hours, and make sure you don’t leave it until the last minute. Using an electronic inventory system can certainly reduce the effort required at stocktake time.

The end of the financial year can often be a busy time for small business owners. All your business accounting needs to be finalised, tax returns need to be completed and submitted, and planning for the year ahead needs to be done. It’s not all bad news however, as tax time is the perfect opportunity to reassess where your business is at and where you want it to be.

Understand your employee commitments

Know what you can claim You don’t want your business to miss out on potential tax deductions, so make sure you’re clued up about what you can claim. The majority of costs you incur whilst running your business can be claimed as a tax deduction as long as they directly relate to earning your income. The 2016 federal budget introduced changes to the small business equity concession, increasing the threshold from $2 million to $10 million in annual turnover. As a result, from 1 July 2016 many more business owners will be eligible for small business concessions such as access to the immediate deduction for assets costing up to $20,000 and the opportunity to account for tax on a cash basis. But for the upcoming end of financial year, the threshold remains at $2m. Use what you’ve learnt With all the information about your business updated and in one spot, EOFY is a great time to take stock and reflect on the past year. I suggest sitting down with your accountant or bookkeeper to review your finances and discuss what you could change next year to improve. It’s also a good time to set goals for the new year, and to review your business and marketing plans to ensure they’re still appropriate for the size of your business or the stage it’s at.

44% of Sales People Commit this unbelievable and unforgivable sin!

After all, sales is just a numbers game, right? Greg Rogers // 0406 569 000 greg@rethinkhq.com.au

A straight out churn and burn, now that’s hard work!

If you need to kill some time one day just Google that phrase!

Where is the value? The nurture? The solution?

Here is a quick tip, you won’t have time to go past page 2 to realise it is still very much a divided argument.

Knowing the metrics (fancier term for numbers) of your sales process and having a sales process that delivers value, nurtures over time and can clearly articulate a solution to the customers pain points is the best approach.

There are those who are happy to sprout that despite the increasing need to have sales considered in a less ‘salesy’ hard core fashion, sales is, was and will always need to be about the numbers, nothing else.

Cash Flow

The other camp beats the drum that if your approach is only about the numbers, then you are doomed to fail! Sales should be and are far less about the numbers and more about the approach, the value, the nurture.

Oh, and that statistic at the start? Here it is along with a few other ‘sales numbers’ for you to consider. How does your business compare? 44% of Salespeople give up after the first follow up – Unbelievable and unforgivable! Only 2% of Sales are made on the first contact – But still they try.

In my opinion both are right and it comes back to a philosophy of, “it’s all about the dosage!”

80% of Sales are made on or after the 5th contact – How long do YOU stay in the game?

Yes there will be times when the focus from the business needs to be more about the numbers; how are our conversion ratios, are we generating enough leads, what’s the conversion from qualified leads to opportunity to closed won or lost.

92% of organisations have a non-existent or deficient sales process - OUCH!

They are very, very important numbers to know and it’s scary how many businesses and sales staff just DON’T know them! Conversely you will absolutely need a very large number of leads if your sales approach is to launch straight into a standard scripted ‘sell’ from a cold call and then not follow up.

50% of sales time is spent on unproductive prospecting – Busy being busy, not productive. Of course all these numbers and more are part of the metrics that make up the sales pipeline, if you understand your metrics and numbers you can develop strategies to increase sales, revenue and customers, that sounds pretty good, right? I mean who doesn’t want more sales, more revenue, more customers? Sales – just a numbers game.

PUT MORE CASH IN YOR BANK ACCOUNT NOW 3 easy to implement strategies Rueben Taylor // 08 9468 0200 Business Wealth Educators One of the most common problems faced by businesses is not having enough cash in the bank. There are a number of causes of this, maybe you don’t have enough work coming in and need more clients, or maybe you are having problems juggling cashflow, which is often the case as a business grows. Even if your business is profitable, it doesn’t mean that there is necessarily cash in the bank. Here are three simple and easy-toimplement strategies to put more cash in your bank account. 1.) Collect Outstanding Money - It might sound simple, but you’d be surprised just how many businesses have very poor or non-existent collection procedures. Before you go seeking more work and more customers, make sure you get paid for any work that you’ve already done. Get your debtors list out today and start calling. Start with the biggest debts first. Put in place collection scripts and make it part of your process. 2.) Make An Offer To Your Database - If you’ve been in business for a while, then you should have a list of past and existing customers. Selling to existing customers is much easier than selling to prospects. An enticing offer to your existing clients can give you a quick injection of cash to help with Cashflow. 3.) Improve Your Conversion Rate Conversion is often an overlooked area in business. The power of conversion is that you can make large improvements with very little investment. Two really simple things you can do to improve conversion is having a consistent follow-up process to keep leads engaged and implement sales call scripts so your staff interact a certain way with customers. If you focus on collecting outstanding debts, creating a compelling offer to make to your existing/past clients and implement strategies to improve conversion, you will see a very quick injection of cash in your business.

Investment - The 3rd Element Sanchia Cayzer // Cherry Black Business Builders Most people think that cash flow has just 2 elements; cash receipts and cash payments. Get these right and your cash flow will handle itself. Well they are partially correct. These two elements determine short term cash flow but what about the longer term? This is where the third element of cash flow comes in. Investing. Investing is more than buying shares or an investment property. Investing is doing things to improve you or your business and is essential to any business. It may be the new piece of equipment that you need, employing an accounts receivable clerk, sales training or even a business improvement course. Some of these things don’t have large obvious cash flow implication but are still considered investing. They all have hidden cash flow implications that require planning to minimize the impact on the business. Let take a new piece of equipment. Assume that you are able to secure financing to buy the equipment. Most people will have factored in the repayments and extra income this investment and financing. The hidden cash flow implications will depend on the

following. Is there GST on the equipment? Does the financing cover the GST? Timing of the GST refund. Timing of the additional income. Collection times on the additional income. Will the income generated continue after the financing is paid off? What are the additional servicing, insurance, registration costs associated with the equipment? Will additional training and licenses be required? Will there be any cost savings? Is there business down time for the installation? Can you sell any old equipment? A lot of these hidden factors have a negative cash flow impact in the very short term. For this reason, investing should be looked at as a separate cash flow element. It is imperative that the planning is done in full to determine if and when the investment is best to be made. It may be better to miss out on the sales and buy when your cash flow is strongest or the business interruption the least. The money and stress saved on bank overdraft interest and fees, late fees and defaults may more than make up for the higher purchase price. But as always, don’t forget to negotiate. You will often be able to get close to the “sale” price especially if you are buying in the suppliers’ quiet time as they have their own cash flow to worry about.

Employee or contractor myths You may think that your workers are contractors because they invoice you – but this is a myth. Receiving an invoice from a worker is not a deciding factor on whether they’re an employee or contractor. You need to consider the whole working arrangement so that you are clear on your tax and super responsibilities for them. So how do you get it right with your workers? Employee/contractor decision tool Use the Australian Taxation Office (ATO)

Employee/contractor decision tool to get a quick and reliable answer. The tool will tell you if your worker is an employee or contractor for tax and super purposes and what this means for your business. You can access the tool at ato.gov.au/ectool Webinar Register for the ATO’s free Employee or contractor webinar to help you understand your obligations in more detail – the sessions are interactive if you have questions you’d like to ask. You’ll find the webinar at ato.gov.au/general/webinars For more information, refer to www.ato.gov.au/echomepage

Make sure you have workers’ compensation insurance

WorkCover WA Small business owners – did you know you can be fined thousands of dollars for not holding a valid workers’ compensation insurance policy? There are a number of obligations that small business owners are legally required to meet in relation to workers’ compensation and injury management. These obligations are designed to reduce the financial impact of a work-related injury on your business, as well as the operational impact of managing an injured worker’s rehabilitation and return to work. In Western Australia, employers are legally required to have workers’ compensation insurance to cover all of their workers, including contractors and family members who work in the business. Employers are also legally required to: • submit workers’ compensation claim forms to their insurer within five working days of receipt; • make payments to injured workers on their regular pay cycles; and • have a documented injury management system that outlines the steps to be followed if an injury occurs in the workplace. WorkCover WA inspectors routinely visit small businesses to check for workers’ compensation insurance policies and to ensure employers are meeting other related obligations. It is not a defence to claim you were unaware of your obligations or that you forgot to renew your insurance policy. For more information on employer obligations visit www.workcover.wa.gov.au/ employers or phone WorkCover WA’s Advice and Assistance line on 1300 794 744.

Business Chaos to Business Rhythm We create points of reference in our lives, birthdays, Christmas, Easter, and holidays. In our business lives, we can lose our rhythm and a day blurs into weeks, months and years. Charles Sondergaard // charles@sondergaard.com.au 08 6313 1900 Monotonous quarterly BAS returns and year-end tax returns become our key reference cycles. These are too often hindsight events that we react to. We need to challenge ourselves to take a more proactive stance. Develop a good meeting rhythm in your organization which allows you to use a series of meetings to build upon each other. This enables management to identify patterns that assist them in making quicker and more effective decisions. Moreover, communication in a focused and structured way eliminates inefficiency in the organization and propels you towards achieving your goals. Typically to get this rhythm going you need to consider these Annual Meeting – review last year’s goals, set and get alignment among your management team around this year’s plan. Daily Huddles – these are 5 -15 minute stand-up meetings for everyone. Use them to ensure everyone is focused on the right activities, identify and blocks that may reduce efficiency or the completion of a task/project. Murtuza Sial // 0430527862 Fuji Xerox In recent years, there has been a great deal of discussion around the transition away from print in favour of new digital technologies. However, that doesn’t mean that print is any less relevant – printing is still essential to business. Print operations are often an area of the business that encompasses some of the highest costs, thanks to a number of contributing factors. Some factors that can lead to high print management costs include but are not limited to:

in your business, improvement in this area requires attention. A good reliable multifunction device can be the key answer to these problems The Key Benefit of Multifunction device : 1) Printing productivity Of course, one of the primary benefits of a multifunction device is the ability to print quickly and at a high level of quality. 2) Improve scanning

•A lack of capable workflow software.

At one point, scanning meant converting documents into images, where staff would then have to manually inspect the file and seek out any relevant details. Now, thanks to more advanced technology, staff can search scanned documents for text and scan directly to USB.

To optimise the role that a printer plays

3) Small and efficient

•S taff using materials and devices inefficiently; • Incorrect set up of printers and scanners;

Efficiency is high in the minds of many business leaders, but so too is space. Many modern, capable multifunction devices are easy to install thanks to their small footprint, and will manage energy efficiently. 4) Cost Effective: This is the most important consideration and deciding factor for any business. Is your current printer costing you a lot? Are your current printer toners too expensive? When was the last time you reviewed your printing cost? It is very important to review your print cost every 3 years. So if you haven’t done so recently you may be surprised to see how much your business can save. COMMUNICATION is KEY Sylvia Marina ND // Communication Coach 0412 198 612 - www.sylviamarina.com Two happenings in life change our lives forever.. ...the birth of a baby ...trauma and tragedy When we become a parent, our world is changed forever. When trauma and tragedy happen, our life is for-ever changed... If I could turn back time... and take you to your joy when life was free of pain and heartache, disappointment and fear, sadness and anxiety, I would do that for you... Sadly that is not the design of life – life is triumph and trauma, joy and sorrow, euphoria and disappointment.

Self Development

I’ve known, aching neck and arms as I nursed my babies through a fever, nothing pained as much as the death and loss of my unborn babies... or my dear friends and those of you here in this audience/ readers today who ache with the sorrow, grief, silence, unanswered questions, the vacancy that barged into our lives through suicide.

I’m Sylvia Marina, the founder in the year 2000, of the International Grief Support Foundation Inc. – my quest in life is that we all have the opportunity to know love, be love and make this world a kinder place than it was for those no longer with us. When choice is stripped from people’s lives as in an unplanned pregnancy, heartbreak, shattered dreams, career variation, financial crash, ill-health, divorce, lifestyle change, redundancy.... It is the people who lack resilience and clarity of purpose that suffer the deepest longest grief, regret, melancholy and depression. My life’s work evolves helping people to understand their story, even to their genetic intelligences and memories. Each one of us has a personal responsibility to learn how to access our intelligences and be all that we have the capacity to be so that when challenge especially unexpected challenge floods us, we know who to turn to, what help to seek, how to communicate our needs. To often I’ve observed, people speak in innuendo, the listener is double guessing what is happening or doesn’t read the clues because the clues are too cryptic.

ENABLING PEOPLE TO LIVE A LIFE FREE FROM EMOTIONAL PAIN AND TRAUMA • Resolve past issues • Discover your true purpose • Connect & awaken your intelligences • Build better relationships • Reconnect to what you really want in life • Become a leader

Expert in Human Behaviour

I am a health professional with more than thirty years experience in emotional behaviours, from my role in a conversation I am frequently asking questions with the purpose of finding the real words and emotions the person is trying to convey. A child with the tummy ache does not necessarily mean it ate food that disagreed – often the belly warns us with that horrid feeling – that all is not at peace in my world, I feel threatened, I feel unloved,

misunderstood or I wish I had behaved differently, made different choices – or something is happening and I’m scared. RUOK. The slogan “Are You Okay” is a beginning to reaching out. Each one of us has the intelligence to answer the question and answering with the intent to put a clear picture in another’s mind. Too often we ask questions that go nowhere or tell nothing...”how are you” we know the answer – “good thanks” – too often we don’t even wait for the answer. You are capable, together let us change the culture. I believe that as soon as we identify our capabilities, the opportunity to learn how to train and transform ourselves becomes evident. A welfare child, I left school at 14 years of age. I had a dream of what I wanted to become but was deprived of the opportunity to complete my schooling – fortunate for me doors opened and I walked through them. It was not easy, I stayed focused, I refused to live a life of regret, inside I felt clever and intelligent, I wanted to be it – I did. My life evolved, I became the educator, author and speaker I always dreamed I could be. Start by becoming a better communicator. Instead of the standard ... ”how are you”... start practicing other greetings/inquiries... What challenged you today? I asked this recently and the person answered “fine thankyou” then he looked at me and said... what did you say. We enjoyed a hearty laugh together and then I was given a lovely hug, a cup of coffee and a meaningful conversation began. What project are you working on now? What new thing/holiday/restaurant.... How are you feeling right now?... What else?... What else... And then what happened? We all have a story AND recent weeks so many sad, heartbreak... as phone calls come to me of bankruptcy, a diagnosis, suicide. In times of trauma, often there is little we can do, but for now... begin practicing your communication skills, you never know whose life you changed, or whose life you saved.

The Power of a Peaceful Mind in Business Linda Chatwin // 0438 800 967 www.bodyscents.com.au A peaceful mind is often associated with someone of ‘Zen” like status, a yogi, a philosopher a new age guru. The truth is anyone can achieve a state of stillness in their mind and still be a driven and successful entrepreneuer. In fact, many CEOs have reported that stillness of the mind or “mindfulness” has contributed greatly to their success.

connected to his clients. “In a business you start connecting to your customer as your family rather than merely a business transaction.” The same goes for his relationships with his colleagues and staff. Many see it as a valuable pursuit when we put it into the context of better relationships, increased levels of happiness, more vitality, looking younger, more focus & increased levels of success.

There have been recent studies conducted with brain-imaging research to suggest that Meditation boosts your emotional intelligence. This would make your ability to regulate your emotions and have more meaningful relationships easier.

The good news is this isn’t another “to do” on your list. Meditation is not something ‘to do’ because when done effectively it does you. Just find space in your diary and start with small periods of time. Moving meditation can be a good practice especially if outdoors in a peaceful environment.

Chirag Patel, CEO of Amneal Pharmaceuticals and Ernst & Young 2011 Entrepreneur of the Year, credits meditation with helping him feel more

Mindfulness can be a very simple practice. Try tuning out all other distractions and bringing intense focus to something very simple. This will bring you into ‘present

Business Owners, Watch Out! Stress And Anxiety Lurks Your Health Many people would like to become successful business owners, but most of them are not aware how stressful it is to be an entrepreneur. Surveys show that more than a half of business owners believe that their job is seriously affecting their health. And that is not difficult to comprehend because private business usually requires many longer working hours, no time for relaxation or a longer vacation. Even if business owners do get some free time they often cannot forget about their job or obligations, always worrying if everything is going to be fine. All of this affects one’s health and regular life, but luckily there are ways to reduce levels of stress in a few easy steps: - It is just important to know when it is enough of work for a day. If you are too tired, you will probably not do anything right so just let it go for today.

- Learn to set priorities, set goals and focus on the most important tasks of the day. - Physical exercises may largely contribute to recharging your batteries. If you don’t like to exercise then find some movement activities which you enjoy doing such as walking or dancing. - Don’t try to achieve perfectionism in every single task you perform. It can be extremely stressful, and some outcomes will be excellent even if your task was not done perfectly. Hence, stop worrying about unnecessary little things – they are not worth stress accumulation in your body.

- Ten-minute break and a short walk will surely clear your head and reduce the level of stress in your body. - Take regular and enough sleep. - Also, learn to say NO to avoid overcommiting yourself as worthy requests will always be endless. It might not be easy to say no to others but it is a definite path to stress relief. Author’s Bio //

- Make sure you keep connections with your beloved ones – friends and family. Always try to have small talks with people who bring nothing but the best out of you, and your stress will undoubtedly reduce, and even vanish.

My Baby Was Born Toxic Abheeti K Pass // 0424 061 081 abheeti@brookandcedar.com

As a newborn until approximately 6 months my baby daughter expressed an inexplicable and excruciating pain. She screamed both day and night. As parents desperate for real help, practical answers and medical assistance, we felt powerless to care for and soothe our baby girl. We tried various health practitioners, both natural and conventional, with no resolution. When she was four months old, we finally got the results of her hair tissue analysis and had the scientific tables read by a medically trained naturopath. Lead, cadmium and aluminium – toxic heavy metals at levels high enough to rock the

socks off an adult of 70 kg, in the body, in the bloodstream and potentially travelling rapidly to the brain, of our 5 kg baby daughter. A friend introduced us to the oils and instantly I knew in my belly how powerful this health-promoting modality would be not only as an agent for change in the wellbeing of the community, but also as a vehicle to help us climb out of the sticky depths of debt, while being able to largely stay home with my children during their waking hours. With over $400,000 in financial loss we knew it was time to roll up our sleeves… Brook & Cedar was born.

One of our key messages at Brook & Cedar is about raising awareness for all families about the obvious and hidden chemicals

found in health and personal care products we use on our babes, often on a daily process.

I share this because as a working mother of three, in the throes of financial hardship, heartache and difficulty, I was able to create change and make things work by tapping into the interests and needs of my community which were similar to my own, serving that community and doing the best I could with the (at times limited) resources I had. I am now earning a full time income, working part time from home, and am thrilled to support other people who might know my pain, to do the same. Our team at Brook & Cedar is over a thousand-fold, comprised of everyone from families to businesses to faith groups, spread all over.

EGO IS NOT A DIRTY WORD Self Development

Deb Macintyre // Shaman, Seer & Transformational Life Coach www.debmacintyre.com In the age of the socially conscious entrepreneur the topic of ‘ego’ is discussed often. The majority of my clients are CEO’s, business owners and coaches who find it difficult walking the fine line of serving others and self-service. When we look at the definition of ‘ego’ as used in psychoanalysis, it ‘is the part of the mind that meditates between the conscious and the unconscious and is responsible for reality testing and a sense of personal identity’. Our individual belief systems and values have been established by way of preconditioning from a very young age. These standards and ideals are not our own, but invariably from those that have played an integral part in our formative years.

As it happens, when we are aggrieved by what we hear, it is the connection we make in our subconscious mind, to the memories we have stored there from past incursions into our belief system. These memories trigger stories, which are directly related to our feelings of self worth and abandonment that we place on our self. Why is there so much dissension in the world? One group of people customarily feel their opinion is right, and the other party is wrong. There is no right or wrong. Only your perception of the situation and the circumstances you find yourself in. We project our insecurities and inadequacies that we feel deep within our own self, onto anyone we feel challenges our identity. In business and in life it is easy to get caught up in preening and ruffling one’s feathers. When you utter words to place yourself above another person, subjugating their beliefs and values, then consider that it is your feeling

of self-importance that you are imposing on the other. Projecting your own dissatisfaction and feelings of self-worth. Self-esteem and value of oneself can be shrouded when we project our anger or disappointment onto another human being. Ego returns to our own identity and our self-worth issues that is, the manner in which you see yourself in the world. Ego isn’t a bad thing it is your choice of how you show up in life. Be congruent with who you really are. Check in with yourself before you cast dispersions on someone else. Where is what you have to say coming from? Is it coming from a place of service and humility? Always connect with your authentic truth first. Listen to that inner voice, your gut. Embrace and be open to change, direction and spiritual instruction. So this is what I share with my clients, ego is not a dirty word it all comes down to the intention placed behind it.

“YOU ARE WHO YOU MEET, WHAT YOU READ AND HOW YOU THINK” Big Al Connolly // Big Al Connolly How do you know what you know? Why you Act like you act? and How you Think like you think? It is all learned behavior!

Early on in my Entrepreneurial Journey, one of my imaginary Board of Directors, Charlie Tremendous Jones said… “You will be the same 5 years from now, other than the people that you meet and the books that you read” https://youtu.be/Cp--2fvuTRE I took this to heart and began implementing immediately as prior to this, I had been an engineer during the time Margaret Thatcher broke the Unions in the UK and long term career prospects were not looking good in the engineering industry. I attended seminars with Sir Richard Branson, Zig Ziglar, Dr Denis Waitley, Anthony Robbins and Robert Kiyosaki, so it may not surprise you to hear that I went from being an Engineer to becoming an Entrepreneur. I had already applied Entrepreneurial Thinking to a challenge I had when I was just 8 years old. I was a mad keen

footballer and one day my football burst and I had no money to buy another one. So I turned my home made billy-cart into a flat topped trolley and went off to meet the coaches as they arrived in the seaside resort of Blackpool UK. I then offered to take the visitors and their luggage on a guided tour to their hotel in exchange for their loose change. Problem solved…. More than enough cash to buy a football and treat my friends to a lolly or two. As an Entrepreneurial Thinker, it was always interesting when asked at a networking event “What do you do” Well, have you got an hour or two as I DO a lot. I run multiple businesses, I mentor students and business owners and I am an Investor. As I attended more seminars and workshops, with people like Dr John Demartini, T Harv Eker, Mal Emery, Brett McFall and many many others and began reading books by Napolean Hill, Wallace D Wattles, Roger Hamilton, Alex Charfen, George Fokas and Ray Behan so my learned behavior of being an Entrepreneur was becoming more and more my identity as a person too. Fast forward to today, where I have been nominated as one of the 100 most influential in small business and which I have won for the last three years running, Founded the Buyerdirect and Whealth Groups and am building a community of Entrepreneurs in collaboration with the Entrepreneurs Institute and Entrepreneur Café. I am sure you can see the correlation with my headline The Power of Association. Would you agree? 5 practical things people can do to expand and build on their power of association • Think Entrepreneurially – Think like your Peers and Mentors do, ask Socratic questions of yourself • Master Your Genius – Know your energy and the energy of others. Dynamo, Blaze, Tempo or Steel • Be Who You Are – Once you know your energy, Be Your Energy • Network in Your Niche - Get on the invited list for your Peer’s functions and workshops • Read, Read, Read everything in your Niche and then implement

The Top 4 Challenges Women Have With Money Grace Mugabe // financiallyempowered.com.au It’s true, women are clever business women, terrific CEO’s, and statistics are even proving the overwhelming success of all women boards. In spite of this, many women are intimidated to even look at how much they make annually and how much they could potentially save. Because they keep themselves in the dark about their finances, they aren’t fully aware that they possibly could be saving, investing, or, unfortunately, planning their finances better. Lack of Financial Literacy Despite the rise in female entrepreneurship and female presence in jobs once dominated by men, most women still don’t fully comprehend all the ins and outs of how finances work. Not every woman has to become an accountant overnight, but understanding how money is generated, distributed, and earned, is necessary for keeping afloat in this world. Balancing Work & Home Life Women already face challenges being the caretakers, but being the breadwinner only makes it more challenging. They often miss out on family life because they need to work, or their families demand so much time that women cannot expand their careers like they desire. When there is an imbalance, both home life and work suffer. Budgeting I believe the reason why women struggle to save is because so many of us budget poorly, or not at all. That’s not to say that we aren’t capable – we’re just too busy trying to juggle all the balls that need to be in the air at any one time to really knuckle down and get a grasp on our finances. Lack of Advisors or Financial Mentors Advisors and financial mentors can help us understand where we stand now and what we need to do in order to live the best life at our full potential. Today, there are many challenges women have with money, but there are also women out there who want to help you understand finance! Recognise the challenges that are keeping you down, and book a meeting with Grace Mugabe, Founder and CEO of Financially Empowered, and receive the support and guidance you need to face your financial challenges and live the happiest life possible!

7 Key Points Before Embarking on Your new website Shaun Sandy // 1300 558 078 www.bitswebdesign.com.au It’s the first day of your new business. Exciting! At last, you’re following your passion and loving it! The past few weeks have been hectic, sorting out premises, finances, staff and stock. You’ve designed the logo, the packaging, the brochures, and the layout of your store. You know all about your products and how they’re going to benefit your customers.

packaging late. You’re thinking that tonight you should research how to build a website, here are some tips we hope will help. 1. Decide on how you want your site to look and what features it should have. 2. Set a definite budget for the site, including a cost for the time you’ll work on, and maintain it. 3. Draw up a plan on how you will use social media; your site should integrate with Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Today’s the launch, the day your new venture takes off! The tenancy agreement, equipment contracts and those boring administrative details are tasks for the weekend…

4. Look at your competitor’s sites, it will give you an idea on what customers are expecting from sites in your market. A good website has a distinctive look and a specific purpose.

You spent last night moving counters, making sure the store layout was as you had imagined it and re-packing your stock because the printer had delivered the

5. You’ll need a host for your site, shop around for hosting packages; some will include free domain registration. You should buy an SSL certificate, this is a

security measure to protect customers details, as well as protecting your website and pocket from hackers. 6. Set aside at least two hours a week to update and maintain your website, stale websites lose visitors and search engine rankings. 7. Be aware that templates that look great on their designer’s site may not look the same at all on your site. Changing it can be costly, as it will require many hours of your time. Stay focused, don’t fall into the trap of believing you’re saving money by doing everything yourself. The lesson is to focus on what you excel in, and get specialists to look after specialist areas, where you may not be so strong, such as dealing with contracts, finances or creating a presence on the web.

Feng Shui tips for your Website & Logo

Webdesign and Marketing

Michelle Castle // 0421 116 799 Complete Feng Shui having your business card and website in alignment with Feng Shui principals can make all the difference. Here are the top Feng Shui tips to use in designing your business cards to attract fortune. Keep a Good Flow in your Design One of the most important elements of Feng Shui is flow, meaning that nothing should be blocked. As good flow is one of the most essential elements in Feng Shui as well and space, meaning that there should not be any obstruction, so avoid any border around the card as it stop the energy flow. Try not using straight lines or blocks on your card. This can create a split in the business and can place your business into a ‘boxed’ in situation, not allowing your business growth and movement. Keep clear of clutter Just like applying Feng Shui to your home and office, it should also be applied

to designing your business card and website. Always keep the business card or website as clean and concise as possible by removing all excess information and placing only relevant information needed. Logos and Photos It is recommended to avoid using sharp points in the logo because such logos generate negative energy. Logos should be round and flowing to allow the energy to flow for the business. You can also round the corners of the business cards to further enhance the flow of the business. Photos are very popular and a great tool for recognition and credibility. Make sure when placing a photo that you do not have your back to the business name or contact details, this is considered as turning your back on your business Utilize the Space While Feng Shui practices allow for correctly adjusted space and flow, no area should be empty or hollow - this doesn’t mean that the use of white space isn’t

permitted, rather that it should be incorporated. Feng Shui Colours The best and most auspicious colours for your business card and website is actually determined from your own personal date of birth, once this is determined, correct colour placement for you success is easy. Respect the Order The company’s name should always be first, and be made large and bold in order to show strength. Your name should always come after the business name on a Feng Shui business card. Respecting order is a key element of Feng Shui design. The actual order and placement can be fine-tuned and determined once you know your own personal directions. By applying these simple 6 Feng Shui tips when creating your business card, you’ll have not only an awesome looking card you will feel proud and happy to distribute, but also one that can help to bring you luck and wealth too. How ready is your business from becoming a ‘Brand’? Gabrielle Thirot // 0439 478 906 www.boabcreative.com

Being unique and different is how you will stand out from the crowd.

One that you’ll return to, to make adjustments to as your business changes.

Branding is a key pillar for any small business. Large number of small businesses don’t pay much attention to branding and such businesses succumb. Remember, branding is what attract sales and takes your small business off the ground.

Does your Target Audience love and recommend your products or services? Any business is as good as its product, no matter how much branding and promotion you do. If your labels are devine but the product is average, then the brand becomes unattractive. So it’s imperative that your product stands out!

Ask yourself the following questions to know if you have that “X” factor to turn your small business into a successful brand...

There are several other factors that can help to ensure your brand is appealing to your target market, such as emotional and packaging attributes.

Have you defined a ‘Tagline’ for your Business? A good USP or successful tagline will define what your business stands for and represents.

Emotional attributes such as friendliness, empathy, humor, and loyalty are some of the driving factors that attract attention to your brand.

Overall, defining your brand is much like packaging and presenting a gift. You want the recipient to be pleased with the offering -- and that includes everything from the style of packaging, to the usefulness of the actual gift itself. You want the recipient to understand that forethought and heart went into the selection of the gift, and that it was chosen out of compassion and understanding. And you want it to represent the love you have for that person -- in this case, your customers.

Do you know the lifestyle, hobbies & buying behavior of your Target Market? Have you created your perfect avatar?

The packaging material, colours of font, the layout, the photos all matter when it comes to your target market. A good photo speaks a thousend words... Your customers will rememeber it much longer than lines and lines of text.

Is your branding consistent? From your logo to your website, stationary and business cards? Your customers will only recognise and remember your brand if they see it everywhere and on everything. Do you stand out among your peers?

But remember, your brand is an evolving asset. It’s one that requires continued attention. One that you’ll need to foster.

Author’s Bio // Gabrielle is a designer, creative director and founder of Boab Creative. She combines her skills of marketing, creative campaigns and graphic design to help passionate entrepreneurs to build powerful brands injected with soul, energy and personality. She has a penchant for game-changing branding… which makes her the perfect fairy-godmother to guide you on your awesome branding journey.

3 Ways To Monetise Your Website Making money online has never been easier. Today there’s a myriad of ways to monetise your passion and also provide more value to your clients and customers. Here are my top 3 ways to make more money from your website that are easy to incorporate and require no extra time from you. 1. Email Marketing Building an email list can make you a lot of money, help you build a solid brand and of course help readers come back to your site, time after time. However, gone are the days where you can just offer a newsletter subscription as a reason to subscribe. The key is to offer some content, a freebie that entices your readers to want to get in exchange for their name and email address. Email marketing can help you make

you money in a few different ways. By creating an automated series of follow up messages and promotions it helps you make money on autopilots and drive traffic back to your site where you make money from other methods. 2. Sell Advertising Space The most popular form of making money from a website is by placing banners or ads on it. You can charge Pay per Click or allow others to rent advertising space for a monthly, weekly or even daily set fee. The most common form of advertising is Google Adsense which is paid per click. If you have a lot of traffic coming to your website it can provide a healthy passive income. The other method is to create partnerships and find advertisers yourself. In my experience you get paid more, build better partnerships and can do a better job for them.

3. Affiliate Marketing In general it’s recommending or promoting other people’s products of which you make a commission on a sale. Affiliate marketing works great when it’s combined with email marketing promotions and useful and honest blog product reviews. There are so many ways to go about finding a product to promote, it often depends on your industry. Two great resources to find affiliate programs and products to promote are Clickbank.com and Amazon Associates program. The most important thing to focus on when it comes to monetising your website is that it works for you and your clients and customers. Does it provide more value for them? Does it provide a better user experience? You’ll find that when you focus on truly helping your customers the money will come.
