Courtland City Council Tackles Water Drainage Issues, Approves Key Resolutions COURTLAND, Minn. — The Courtland City Council, in its recent meeting, focused on resolving critical water drainage issues affecting residents on Wishbone Way and Stony Point, while also addressing various community concerns and administrative matters. Residents Tom Suess and John Stadick attended the meeting for the second consecutive month to express their ongoing concerns about inadequate water drainage from their properties on Wishbone Way. Maintenance and Utilities Supervisor Dave Ubel reported that he and Council Member Justin Kraus met with engineering firm Bolton and Menk to survey the problem. They received a bid of $77,705 for installing a 12-inch pipe with catch basins between each house while continuing to use the existing culverts. Mayor Al Poehler informed Suess and Stadick that at least 70 percent of the affected neighborhood must support the repair project, and a petition would need to be submitted to the council. He explained that the cost would be assessed by parcel size and that a public hearing would follow the petition's submission. Without the repair, property owners might face charges for cleaning the ditch. Addressing the water drainage issue on Stony Point, Ubel noted that since the road was paved, water now runs down the road instead of flowing west away from homes. He suggested that if Ellingson Company can install plastic tile, additional engineering work might not be necessary. Further discussion was postponed until the next council meeting, pending quotes and the presence of all council members. In other public utilities matters, Ubel reported ongoing calls from residents City of Courtland in Nicollet County
