Since the emergence of COVID-19 in 2020, the way we live, work, and socialize has undergone a dramatic transformation. Residential design has evolved to prioritize a style of living that is safe, flexible, compact, sustainable, and adaptable. Our flex home is a prime example of this shift in design philosophy. With a total area of 410 square feet, it has been meticulously designed to meet the needs of a family of three. From flexible living spaces that can be transformed to accommodate different activities, to sustainable features that reduce environmental impact, this home has it all. Above all, it provides a safe and secure environment where families can thrive, even in uncertain times.

When working with a small space, every inch counts, which is why designing for functionality and versatility is paramount. Our design philosophy for compact spaces prioritizes creating multifunctional areas that serve multiple purposes.

Our exhibition is designed to transport visitors of all ages into a whimsical world of cool-toned colors and swirling patterns. The ceiling features various apertures that allow light to filter through, creating a stunning display of colors that reflect down into the space. Clear objects are placed strategically throughout the exhibit, producing captivating swirls of color that dance around you as you explore. The textured wall mimics a snowcovered mountain, adding to the immersive experience. The addition of clear speckled film creates the illusion of falling snow, adding an extra touch of magic to this already enchanting display. The winter night sky exhibition allows people to come and experience the beauty of the Northern Lights.

Our redesign concept was centered around creating a home away from home experience for coffee bean’s visitors. We recognized that many people utilize coffee shops as a place to work and study, and we wanted to provide a comfortable environment that would foster creativity and productivity while still aligning with the Coffee Bean’s brand standards. The key aspects of our redesign was upgrading the lighting in the space. Fixtures were carefully selected to create a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Skillsets: Handsketching, Sketchup, and CAD
Due to the minimal natural lighting in the location, the coffee shop was initially dark and uninviting. The walls were covered in a glossy burnt red color, and a yellow textured wallpaper accent wall reflected the green and orange lighting, further adding to the unwelcoming ambiance. This made it an unpleasant environment for customers to enjoy their coffee or get work done.
