Having played for the University of Texas in the 90's, I possess an intimate understanding of the intricacies of these golf courses and communities. There are also big changes in elevation on most holes so plan on ng some uneven stances over the ball from the fairway. ACC, the home arvey Penick, is a lovely course with stunning lake and hill country s and is always in impeccable condition. Also included is a large tice facility for both the long and short games.

Living in Spanish Oaks is a luxurious and upscale experience that offers a blend of natural beauty, privacy, and world-class amenities. Membership at Spanish Oaks Golf Club is limited to 450 members and is by invitation only. The club prides itself on its exclusivity and personalized service. Members enjoy a range of benefits including concierge services, a tennis center, Fish Camp (a private lake), a fitness center with personalized fitness plans, a swimming pool, sand volleyball, basketball and upscale dining options. SPANISH OAKS GOLF

The golf course at Spanish Oaks was designed by Bobby Weed and has been ranked among the top courses and practice facilities in the state of Texas. The course features a challenging layout with rolling hills, oak trees, rock outcroppings and panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Two unique bonuses here are welltrained caddies and complimentary well stocked comfort stations. Spanish Oaks Golf Club is also known for its commitment to environmental sustainability, and the course has been designated as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.

Living in Barton Creek and experiencing the country club is a unique and highly desirable experience. BARTONCREEKGOLF

The Fazio Foothills is the original Barton Creek gem. It is a traditional style golf course nestled in the hills of Austin. Elevations, cliffs, creeks, stunning views and waterfalls define this beautiful course.

The Coore Crenshaw golf course is well know for it's massive undulating greens, and Ben Crenshaw's putting touch can be felt here.

The Fazio Canyons is the newest of the 4 courses but they left nothing out. More scenic holes lined with Red Oaks and Sycamore trees. Fazio

Canyons was the first resort course in Texas to be certified as an Audubon International Signature Sanctuary.

The 4th course, Palmer Lakeside, is located about 25 miles west of Austin overlooking Lake Travis. Big hitters and nature lovers will adore this spot.

The Hills community in Lakeway is a large gated area connecting the Hills Country Club and Flintrock Falls. In addition to its worldclass golf facilities, also included is The World of Tennis, a state-of-the-art fitness center, swimming pools, and several dining options. It's an unparalleled experience with a variety of social events and activities throughout the year to bring families together for fun times. The club has a strong sense of community and is known for its friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The membership has access to the entire Club Corp network. Price Guide - $$$$

THE HILLS & FLINTROCK GOLF

The Hills Country Club features two championship golf courses: The Hills Course (Jack Nicklaus design) and The Flintrock Falls Course (Jack Nicklaus and son design) plus the Academy of Golf Dynamics.

The Hills Course is known for its rolling hills, elevated tees/greens, running creeks/waterways and serene panoramas while The Flintrock Falls Course features dramatic waterfalls and limestone outcroppings. The Hills is championship caliber golf and knowing where to place the ball off the tees will help tremendously. And, did I mention you need to hit far?

Steiner Ranch is known for its natural beauty and stunning views, with rolling hills, mature trees, green spaces and hiking trails. Included are three community centers with two junior Olympic sized pools, a resort pool, splash pool, splash pad and two baby pools. Also included are eight lighted tennis courts, four basketball courts and over 20 miles of serene hiking trails. Residents have exclusive access to the Lake Club, on Lake Austin, as well as seven parks and four multi-purpose athletic fields.

THEUTGOLFCLUB

Home to the University of Texas men's and women's golf teams, this course has it all. Located in the hill country over the top of Lake Austin and bordering the Balcones Natural Wildlife Preserve, the views are spectacular. Also included is a state of the art practice facility and Jordan Spieth par 3 course. The University of Texas traditions and first-class experiences stand out with impeccable club amenities.

As for the golf, there are many elevation changes and quite a few riskreward type shots from the tee boxes and in the fairway. This course requires good course management and may take a few rounds before you get the hang of some of the layup shots. The final holes on the back 9 always make for good competition when everything is on the line.

Lost Creek offers residents a suburban lifestyle with easy access to both natural beauty and urban amenities. This natural oasis provides residents with opportunities for outdoor recreation and serves as a popular destination for nature enthusiasts, while still being within reach of the amenities and attractions of Austin. Membership to the country club features private golf, tennis, fitness, swimming and social events. The club also has access to the entire ClubCorp network.

LOST CREEK COUNTRY CLUB GOLF

The Lost Creek golf course is nestled along the Barton Creek greenbelt. Some holes make you feel like you're in a nature preserve with the deer, hawks and squirrels running around. Th course is for straight ball hitters with its narrow fairways and doglegs. The front nine is a more traditional layout where you c see the fairway and the landing area, while the back 9 requires many more layups. Local course knowledge is a must to be abl keep the ball in play. *Course under redesign at time of print.

REATHILLSGOLF

s golf course is tough. The course takes full advantage of the rolling hills and natural features of the Texas Hill Country, providing golfers h breathtaking views and strategic shot-making opportunities. It takes ttle insider knowledge and a some straight shots to conquer this one.

Located in Cedar Park, Twin Creeks is known for its beautiful natural surroundings and limestone rock. Many homes back up to greenbelts, creeks, or the golf course at elevation. The community features a range of amenities and facilities, including parks, trails, swimming pools, tennis courts and the golf course. beautiful natural setting and easy access to nearby attractions.

TWIN CREEKS GOLF

The golf course at Twin Creeks Country Club is known for its challenging layout, which meanders through limestone walls, mature oak trees and natural creeks. Designed by Fred Couples, this course blends perfectly with nature's rocky outcroppings, waterways and ravines. In addition to the course itself, the club offers a comprehensive practice facility, including a driving range and putting green, as well as, chipping and bunker practice areas.

The Onion Creek neighborhood is great value for the money. Located within close proximity to downtown yet you still feel like you're away from the busy city. You'll find wild turkeys, deer, foxes, owls and much more wildlife living near the creek (and in your backyard). The huge old trees, wide streets and creek frontage make this neighborhood very appealing. The community takes pride in its rich history and is named after Onion Creek, a tributary of the Colorado River that runs through the area. The community has a close-knit feel, with residents actively participating in neighborhood events, clubs and organizations.

ONIONCREEKGOLF

Onion Creek has 27 holes. The original 18 hosted the Legends of Golf back in the 1970's and 80's and is respected as the birthplace of the senior golf tour. This course runs along the creek on many holes and is known for its beautiful landscaping, tree-lined fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and water features. The course offers a balance of open and tighter fairways coupled with the sloping terrain. It's a challenging, but fair course. The greens can be difficult to read for the best of putters, so give yourself some time to get acquainted with the grain and slope. This course is super fun to play and mix up the 9s so it never gets old.

The River Place community provides a serene and family-friendly living environment amidst the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country. This neighborhood, that runs from the water to the hilltops, is loaded with scenic overlooks and also connects to the Nature Preserve. The owner's association amenities include 2 parks with playgrounds, soccer fields and hiking trails...about 5.5 miles long round trip and include Fern Trail, The Canyons and Panther Hollow. RIVER PLACE CLUB GOLF

The golf course is not very long but it is tough with its blind shots over hills and around corners. Course knowledge is a huge advantage when navigating the elevations, twisting creeks, rocky canyons and small sloping greens. And, course management is a must. However, the scenery is so nice that sometimes you don't notice just how difficult this course is or how many balls you've lost.

SEMI-PRIVATECOUNTRYCLUBS

A semi-private golf membership refers to a type of membership offered by certain clubs that provides members with access to certain facilities and services, while also allowing non-members to access some or all of the same facilities and services.

The Falconhead community is adjacent to the golf course with a gated section and an open section. It is considered a family-friendly environment with highly regarded schools. The community features several parks and green spaces, including Falconhead West Park and the nearby Hamilton Greenbelt. Residents of Falconhead also have access to a community center, multiple swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, and several playgrounds.

FALCONHEAD GOLF

The Falconhead Golf Club is known for its scenic beauty, with rolling hills, mature oak trees, and breathtaking views of the Texas Hill Country. The layout is challenging, with strategically placed bunkers, water hazards, and tight fairways that wind through the natural terrain of the area. The par 3 signature hole, in the photo above left, is gorgeous. But, don't fall for that right pin placement. The club also offers a comprehensive practice facility, including a driving range, putting green, and chipping and bunker practice areas.

Avery Ranch is a master planned community known for its extensive amenities that cater to residents' recreational and social needs. The community boasts several swimming pools, sports courts, playgrounds, and hikeand-bike trails that provide ample opportunities for outdoor activities and fitness pursuits. Brushy Creek Trail runs throughout the neighborhood too and Lake Avery provides a tranquil setting for fishing and boating nearby.

AVERYRANCHGOLF

Avery Ranch is a fun golf course for all levels of players. With 6 sets of tees, one can certainly find their sweet spot here. One of the signature features of the Avery Ranch Golf Course is its commitment to preserving the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. The course is nestled amidst picturesque vistas, lots of deer and a serene 60-acre lake. The front 9 is a bit more tactical than the back 9 and hole 7 is the signature hole with a beautiful ravine coming into play both off the tee and hitting into the green. Prepare to search for some birdies on the back 9 with 3 par 5s. And, keep a straight ball off the tee for #18 as you play towards the lake.

GREY ROCK GOLF

Grey Rock has mostly flat topography with bunkers, limestone outcroppings, water and numerous oak trees to get in your way. Membership is tied in with other City of Austin golf courses at the Platinum level. Not known for it's ease of walkability from the clubhouse, once you get out there, it gets a bit easier. The front nine is pretty straightforward, as you can see most fairways landing areas from the tee boxes, while you'll find more doglegs and layups on the back nine.
