WOOL Christopher Wool is an artist/typographer born in Chicago in 1955 and later moved to New York. He is one of the most important painters today and is still able to keep his ‘street vibe’ of painting. Wool’s works have the ability to not only convey messages but as well heavy emotion through his placement, size, font and colour of letters. Although a more simple typography technique, it is very effective with audiences. His use of capital letters creates urgency and is almost shouting at you. His paintings, therefore, can be defined as much by what they are not and what they hold back as what they are.
