-A note from Me-

I am a student first and foremost, constantly looking to learn and always ready for a tough challenge to tackle. The following work was chosen to best demonstrate my passion for thinking about architecture such that it is focused on the experience of the space. I am a firm believer in human-centered design, and always try to get to know a person (if possible) that lives or works near the project site. Serving the community through Habitat for Humanity trips and organizing volunteer days are my two favorite supplements to being a student. Thank you for looking at my work!

Housing Young Professionals

Project Description: The Strip District comes from a history of fruit and produce distribution warehouses that delivered their products all across Pittsburgh. Within the last three decades, the Strip District experienced a strong increase in tourism, and the repurposing of large, abandoned warehouses into condominium complexes. These housing projects, aimed at the incoming generation of young professionals, fail to promote a community environment and do not address the growing ecological issue posed by the combined stormwater-sewage system. In the proposed housing project, new housing is introduced into the site that allows for space between housing units without losing the urban environment. A second project aim was to create a welcoming space for both the residents, and the greater pittsburgh community.

CinemaTech Project Description: East Liberty’s history ranges from being the most affluent neighborhood in Pittsburgh to being neglected and desolate. Recently, it has experienced commercial growth and architectural renovations with the addition of a new bus terminal. Located on the southeast corner of the intersection of Penn Ave and South Highland Ave, this project is a proposal for a multi-faceted theater multiplex with a small restaurant, a full-sized cinema, and a mixed-use space on the upper floors. The space is meant to be explored by all and new spaces are revealed as one travels through the project.

Project Description: The project required the design and fabrication of a hoop house to be given to the Larimer Community Garden in an effort to extend the lifespan of the garden’s plants past the first frost. Limited to nuts and bolts, heat-shrink plastic, and electrical conduit, we aimed to design a hoop house that would not only extend the growing season of the plants, but would allow for easy maintenance and would draw attention to the garden as a whole. The form of the hoop house on the ease of construction and and deconstruction as the houses were intended to be deconstructed by the gardeners at the end of every growing season. In consideration of the workspace in between garden beds, we designed the access openings to allow for gardeners to easily reach in and tend their plants. Final Design Construction + Team
