Following the family's carpentry business collapse, Ferrari started searching for a job in the car industry. He eventually settled for a job as test-driver for C M N , a car manufacturer in Milan which rebuilt used truck bodies into small passenger cars He was later promoted to race car driver and made his competitive debut in the 1919 Parma-Poggio di Berceto hillclimb race, where he finished fourth
In 1920, Ferrari joined the racing department of Alfa Romeo as a driver. Ferrari won his first Grand Prix in 1923 in Ravenna on the Savio Circuit
Enzo Anselmo Giuseppe Maria
Ferrari (20 February 1898 – 14 August1988)was an Italian motor racing driver and entrepreneur , the founder of the Scuderia Ferrari Grand Prix racing team, and subsequently of the Ferrari automobile marque.
Following the birth of his son Alfredo (Dino) in 1932, Ferrari decided to retire and to focus instead on the management and development of the factory Alfa race cars, eventually building up a raceteam of superstar drivers This team was called Scuderia Ferrari (founded by Enzo in 1929) acted as a racing division for Alfa Romeo. The team was very successfully. In 1950, Scuderia Ferrari entered the first ever Formula 1 Grand Prix and have been racing ever since, becoming the oldest team in the sport.
Ferrari has achieved unparalleled success in Formula One and holds many significant records including Most Constructor Championships (16), Most Drivers Championships (15), Most Grand Prix started (1054), Most Wins (242), Most Podium Finishes (798), Most Pole Positions (242),Most Constructor Championship Points (9292), Most Drivers Championships Points (9884).
Ferrari is the only team that has been competing in Formula One continuously since the championship was launched in 1950, and it is richly rewarded for doing so.Ferrari’s importance to Formula 1 is evident in particular through a unique “Long Standing Team” payment of more than $62 million it receives every year. That’s on top of a Constructors Championship Bonus of around $38 million, which is also given out to the teams of Mercedes, Red Bull and McLaren.
Ferrari is also the most successful F1 engine manufacturer, with 243 wins (having achieved a single non-Ferrari victory with Scuderia Toro Rosso at the 2008 Italian Grand Prix, one Ferrari privateer win at the 1961 French Grand Prix).
Ferrari are loved for much more than their impressive statistics, the team has also hosted a group of very charismatic and passionate drivers. Sebastian Vettel , Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher come to mind, t they brought new fans to the Scuderia with personalities and skills on and off track. All of which have voiced characters in Pixar Cars Movies, Schumacher voicing himself as a car.
“Everyone is a Ferrari Fan. If you ask a kid to draw a car, they’ll colour it red.”
