Readiness Open House - May 28 – June 4
Our Open House is a major milestone in the Operation Monarch journey. It is an opportunity to:
• Showcase processes and work practices that will be impacted by the HIS implementation
• Develop strategies for implementing process changes
• Answer questions about the HIS and Go-Live
Devices Update: We are in Phase 1 of 3
• Electrical and network work is underway.
• Devices that can be used in our current state are being deployed to familiarize staff with some of the new devices prior to the HIS change:
❖WOWs
❖Label printers
❖Dual monitors
❖Dragon mics
❖Document scanners
❖Additional computers where applicable
Devices Update – Workstation on Wheels (WOW)
• WS carts were deployed in March
• HDS carts to be deployed April 15 – 26
• Carts to be deployed to remaining NH sites in May
Introducing new technology in advance of Go-Live introduces some of the changes earlier to help with learning curves.
It also eases the pressures of implementing more than 5,000 devices right before go live.
Devices Update – Workstation on Wheels (WOW)
What to do with WOWs once they are on your units?
• Bring them into patient rooms when caring for a patient
• Practice raising them and lowering them
• Lock med drawers and logout of the system before walking away
• Ensure they are frequently charged
• Clean them often, following IPAC best practice
What NOT to do with WOWs
• Use them to place coffee cups or store snacks
• Tape garbage bags to them
Physician & Prescriber Roadshow
April 11 – May 28
Several virtual and in-person meetings will take place over multiple dates at NH and HDS to highlight how the new HIS improves patient care and streamlines processes. This will also provide an opportunity for the HIS team to address any concerns.
These sessions will be accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the College of Family Physicians of Canada (Ontario chapter) as 1-credit per hour group learning activities.
