What is the CICE Program? • College level certificate program designed for students with intellectual disabilities and other significant learning challenges. • Provides students with the opportunity to experience life as a full-time college student, while enhancing their academic, social and employability skills.

Academic Inclusion through Academic Experience courses within other programs offered at Niagara College.

Social Inclusion through student life, community involvement and, campus/program activities.

Employment Inclusion through Field Placements with one of our inclusive employers on-campus or within the community.

Eligibility Requirements • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or Ontario Secondary School Certificate (OSSC), Certificate of Accomplishment or equivalent, or Mature Student Status. • A level of independence that does not require constant support or supervision.

Program Highlights • Through a combination of core courses and modified electives, students will have the opportunity to participate in an inclusive postsecondary learning environment with enhanced in-class supports from Learning Facilitators. • Opportunities to gain work experience through field placements enabling students to develop and enhance their job readiness and employability skills in the workplace. • This program is suitable for students who require significant modification to college level curriculum and is not intended for students who can manage college level courses without significant program modifications.

Program Intake Deliveries Fall Intake Students follow a traditional academic delivery • Fall/Winter terms • Spring/Summer term off • Fall/Winter terms

• The ability to manage transportation to the College and to any field placements or off-campus activities.

Winter Intake

• Participation in an interview to articulate personal goals and determine suitability.

• Winter/Spring-Summer/Fall/Winter

Students follow an accelerated delivery with no break

• Students who have graduated from any college program are not eligible for the CICE program.

Upon receipt of your application the CICE Program Manager will connect with you via email with a link to book your CICE Admission Interview.

Academic Portfolio Manager, CICE

Upon notification of interview request, you will be provided with an Admission interview package to fill out and submit online. Admission interview includes a short technology/ comprehension assessment.

Supports Available to Students • Learning Facilitators in each CICE classroom, and Academic Experience course, to provide in-class supports to all students. • Weekly one-on-one meeting with a Learning Facilitator for each student. • Drop-in sessions open to all CICE students facilitated by Learning Facilitators. • Academic Experience course support sessions to enhance integrated course understanding and experience.

Employment Experience 3 Unpaid Field Placements • Placements provide opportunities for students to enhance their transferable employability skills.

Placements Include: • Grocery Stores • Humane Society • Restaurants • Coffee Shops • Greenhouses • Food Banks • Custodial • Fitness Centres • Retail Stores • Book Stores • Thrift Stores • Landscaping • Hotels/Resorts
