As we close out another calendar year, I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the educators, school leaders, and partners who make up the NHTLLA community. Your dedication to New Hampshire’s students continues to inspire our work every single day.

This year brought meaningful learning, new collaborations, and renewed energy around teaching and leadership across the state. Whether you joined us for a workshop or conference, participated in a webinar, or generously shared your expertise, you helped strengthen our mission of supporting effective teaching, learning, and leading.

Looking ahead to 2026, we are excited to expand our offerings, deepend our partnerships, and continue building a professional learning network that uplifts and empowers educators. Your voice and involvement remain essential to shaping this work.

Dr. Michael Whaland is a Board Member of NHTLLA and serves as the Superintendent of Schools at SAU 13 as well as a part-time lecturer for the Educational Leadership Department at Plymouth State University On October 27th, 2025, Dr. Whaland co-led a webinar with Daniel Moulis, Superintendent of the Hudson School District, on Staying Power: Understanding Staff Retention and What Works.

Jule Finley is a member of NHTLLA. She serves as the curriculum coordinator of SAU 18 and is a longtime theater educator. She spent three decades building strong districtwide arts programs and directing hundreds of productions. She founded both the Franklin Footlight Theater and the Franklin Area Children’s Theater, creating lasting opportunities for students and the community.

GraniteStateUpdate

After Governor Ayotte vetoed HB324 last summer, The House Policy and Education Committee has revived parts of the bill banning “obscene” materials in schools by inserting some of the language into Senate Bill 33.

The Committee recommended the following amendments to HB121 and HB131:

HB121: To give the State Board of Education the ability to appoint an administrator to oversee a school district in certain circumstances

HB131: To replace the bill with language that would overhaul the bullying statute

The Committee amended HB748, a bill that would have required school districts to provide parents with double the state’s per pupil aid, to set up a legislative committee to assess the feasibility of the program.

The Committee approved HB564, which would require school districts to put SAU budgets on the ballot separately from the rest of the district budget.

School districts are increasingly integrating technology into career and technical education (CTE) programs, with new offerings in digital technology, IT, AI, and cybersecurity. Driven by the pandemic and rapid tech advances, nearly a third of schools have launched such programs in the past five years. Techoriented CTE is now among the top pathways, alongside construction and hospitality, reflecting the expanding role of technology in education and the workforce.
