As we turn the calendar to October, I am filled with gratitude and energy from the month behind us. Our recent K–8 Literacy Summit brought together educators, leaders, and partners committed to improving literacy outcomes for all students The conversations, resources, and connections shared will ripple forward, strengthening classrooms and schools across our state I want to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who presented, attended, and supported thisimportantgathering
This fall also brings exciting initiatives for our organization. We are deepening our work to support districts by expanding professional learning opportunities, and continuing to build meaningful partnerships that amplify our mission. These efforts are part of a larger vision to ensurethateverystudenthasaccesstohigh-qualityinstruction.
Looking ahead, our Board of Directors will meet on October 9 to review ourprogressandplanfortheyearahead.Theirleadershipandinsightare vitalaswechartthecourseforcontinuedgrowthandimpact

This month we are excited to shine the spotlight on Dr. Nathaniel Greene of the NHDE and Kierstan Verno of Hampton Academy Junior High School.
Governor Kelly Ayotte and Executive Council appointed Dr. Nathaniel Greene as the new director of NHED’s Division of Education Analytics and Resources.
Dr Greene has served as a high school teacher, a school principal, a district administrator, and a state policy director, all within the New Hampshire public education. He is also on the NHTLLA Board of Directors.

For the past 28 years, Kierstan Verno brings her love for literacy to Hampton Academy Junior High School as a Reading and Writing Specialist
She received her undergraduate degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Clarion University of Pennsylvania. I received her Masters Degree in Reading Specialization from the University of Pittsburgh.
She is certified in Wilson Intensive, and have had formal training in the following literacy programs: Wilson Just Words, LIPS, Visualize and Verbalize, and OG.
She is a big sister in the Big Brothers and Sisters Program and will be starting as an Educational Surrogate Parent for the state this winter She currently reside in Durham,NH with her dog, 2 cats and some fish Her oldest is off doing her PHD and youngest graduating early then off to law school She loves to read and is in many book clubs, plays pickleball and goes to the gym and beach.
