Photography Certificate Program The Photography Certificate Program is a professional certificate program that gives you an excellent opportunity to explore an interest in photography as a hobby or for professional development. It is ideal for those who wish to enhance their knowledge of commercial photography or to complement careers in public relations, marketing, graphic design or writing. Courses are now offered in our Dahlonega and Forsyth campuses. To earn the Photography Certificate: 1. Fill out an application (available online) 2. Successfully complete six core courses over a one-year period.* 3. Exhibit your work in the final show.

Photography – Beginner

Gain photography skills and take better pictures as you learn about the operation of your camera and improve your techniques to enhance family vacation and nature images and boost your creativity. Participants will focus on manual camera operation, metering, exposure, depth of field, shutter speed, and composition. Photography Classes Digital Darkroom

Take all of your photographs to a new level using Photoshop Elements 10 as a training tool. Discover how to select objects, extract or enhance, create color corrections, crop images, create composites, make black and white conversions, and set up for printing. Notes: 1. Photography Portfolio Certificate Program Capstone Class

The portfolio class is for those students who have taken all certificate classes and are ready to finalize their portfolios and have their exit show. Prepare to present your work and approach galleries. Portfolios will be critiqued during the first two classes. Your exhibit work will be chosen by the end of the third class. The final class will consist of hanging the exit show and attending the reception and final exhibition. Expenses/supplies: Students should expect to have at least two pieces in the final show. Expect to pay $100-$300 for printing and framing. Let’s Talk Nature

Join us for this one day nature seminar and demo to learn more about landscape and nature photography. You will also discuss macro photography, best equipment choices, lenses, filters and tripods, and tips and tricks used by nature photographers. Work on designing great nature images in prime local locations in an afternoon field shoot with demos for HDR and panoramics. Healthcare Classes Professional Technician Certification Programs Phlebotomy Technician Certificate

Pharmacy Technician Certificate

Classroom and lab work includes terminology, anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and techniques to perform puncture methods. Students who complete this program will have the opportunity to pursue the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT) Phlebotomy Technician certification exam or the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Phlebotomy CPT Certification exam.

Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, drug compounding, close conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement. This program includes additional emphasis on preparing students to work with Sterile Compounding, IV Admixtures and Aseptic techniques including: aseptic/ sterile techniques; critical area contamination factors; environmental monitoring, facilities; equipment and supplies and other hands on labs and review.

This program includes a 40 hour clinical externship rotation for all students. Students must complete the 48 hours of classroom training and complete a background check prior to beginning the 40 hour externship.

In addition, this program includes a 40-hour clinical rotation through a pharmacy. Students must complete the 100 hours of classroom training and complete a background check prior to beginning the 40-hour externship.

The Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely.

This comprehensive course will prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam. Course content includes medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names.

Medical Terminology – A Word Association Approach

Course includes adult, child and infant CPR and basic first aid. Designed to meet the needs of a diverse audience, training covers a range of topics for children through seniors. Meets the requirements established by Bright from the Start, NAEYC, DHR, and DSS.

Industry Classes Soil Erosion – NPDES Level 1A Fundamental Recertification Course

This four-hour course is for individuals who need to recertify their NPDES Level 1A (Blue) card which expires every three years. According to state law, every three years, a certified individual shall be required to attend and participate in at least four hours of approved continuing education courses, as established by the Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Commission. Individuals can begin taking continuing education courses one year before their certification expires. Any courses taken prior to the oneyear mark will not be accepted. Discounts may not be combined. Discounts cannot be used on online classes, music lessons, or travel programs. Programs not meeting minimum enrollment requirements will be canceled. Cancellations: If you must cancel, please notify us in writing at least three working days before the course begins. You will receive a refund of your registration fee minus a $20 processing fee. No refunds will be given on cancellations made within three working days of the course starting date. If we cancel a course for any reason, you will receive a full refund. We reserve the right to substitute instructors and/or class locations without prior notification. Substitutions: If you register for a class and cannot attend, we will accept your substitute as long as you notify our office prior to the class start date.

Transfers: You may transfer to another class if you notify us by phone or fax at least three working days before the course begins. The class to which you transfer must be already scheduled, and transfers must be made within the same fiscal year (July 1 - June 30). Transfer requests made within three working days of the course starting date will not be granted, and no refund will be given. Children in Class: Our goal is to provide quality instruction; therefore, children are not permitted to sit in on classes for which they are not registered. Unless otherwise noted, the minimum age for continuing education classes is sixteen years of age.
