Contoocook School Takes a Field Trip and New Projects for TrECC Spotlight
Several Contoocook School students took a field trip to the New Hampshire 911 call center in Concord The students learned about how 911 operates (did you know that in New Hampshire, you can text 911 if you can’t call?) and then went to the call center room to observe the operators in action The students had the chance to talk to one of the dispatchers who has been working for 911 for over 10 years about the job requirements, working environment, and what the dispatcher liked and didn’t like about the job During the visit, we got to observe many 911 calls be dispatched, and see some of the technology used to assist the operators in making sure that help gets sent where it’s needed as quickly as possible. After the tour, several of the students expressed that it’s a career that they would seriously consider after finishing high school.
The TrECC (Transitional Enhanced Care Coordination) program has undergone significant refinement over the past year, collaborating with Connected Families NH to develop an internal coaching model. Current projects include updating the TrECC Practice Profile, editing a Family Guide for youth and families, creating a presentation for DCYF Juvenile Justice staff to improve understanding of the TrECC process, revamping the TrECC Service Plan for clarity, and establishing a schedule for monthly TrECC Learning Community meetings and internal talks to enhance coordinators' skills and knowledge.
Meredith Johnson, Contoocook School
Meredith started out at the Midway Shelter program, and when it closed, she transitioned to the Contoocook School Today, at the Contoocook School, Meredith has demonstrated that she has a unique gift for building working relationships with the students and helping them to work their way through coursework. Whenever possible, she tailors the curriculum to focus on their areas of interest to make learning more fun.
For the past two years, Meredith has been asked to assume some of the duties typically handled by the school’s Special Education administrator, currently a vacant position. She helps with managing the curriculum, writes IEPs, conducts transition assessments, and participates in the many meetings related to the special education process She was an integral part of the team that worked on the school’s special education review that occurred last year and was a huge reason we achieved a five-year approval The Contoocook School is lucky to have Meredith on our team!

Bridge Crossing
NFI North Bridge Crossing was chosen as a local nonprofit to be the recipient of the annual fundraising event sponsored by the Delta Masonic Lodge in Lovell, Maine. A pancake breakfast was held on March 8, 2025, which was attended by Amy Siebert & Caroline McCarthy along with other members and supporters of Bridge Crossing and a large contingent of the immediate community. It was an honor to be recognized for all the hard work the program does to support vulnerable youth and families.
Amy and Caroline will be joining a local chapter meeting later this spring to present NFI North’s critical role in the communities we serve, as we look forward to continued collaboration with this valuable organization
ACRC Conference:
Remember Your Why
Four of NFI North program directors had the privilege of attending the ACRC conference which was held in Boston, MA this year The conference brought together leaders, visionaries, and professionals from all corners of the world to discuss the latest trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in residential behavioral health care services It was an excellent opportunity for our leaders to engage with industry peers, share insights, and explore new strategies to obtain the best possible outcomes for our program participants and their families.
We were excited to showcase our latest initiatives and solutions, while learning about how other providers of residential services address similar issues and how to troubleshoot the challenges to the best solutions for all involved
The conference not only provided valuable learning experiences and resources but also strengthened our commitment to our own mission We look forward to applying the knowledge gained and continuing these important conversations beyond the event
