CASE STUDY - North East Link

THE PROJECT

The North East Link is the biggest investment in Melbourne’s north east transport system. Delivering three major road projects, the 6.5km North East Link tunnels from Watsonia to Bulleen will take 15,000 trucks a day off local roads and reduce travel times by up to 35 minutes. Upgrades to the Eastern Freeway and M80 Ring Road will include new lanes, smart technology and a seamless connection to the North East Link tunnels.

The scale and duration of the project demanded a vast number of staff in the following fields:

Recognising the value in this, the North East Link approached NexVentur to run and host a bespoke international recruitment campaign to attract suitably experienced and qualified candidates in Ireland and the UK.

At short notice, NexVentur facilitated an exceptional event in the heart of Dublin and connected us with upwards of 50 educated and skilled candidates interested in moving to Australia. The communication, pre vetting of candidates and event organisation were exceptional.

RESOURCING

THE SOLUTION

A week-long interview series in Ireland and the UK was the result of several months’ preparation. The campaign kicked off with extensive marketing promotion that included paid media, social media and content marketing. Applicants flooded in and our recruiters screened and vetted them thoroughly, only presenting the best prospects to the client.

Shortlisted candidates were then invited to a presentation by the North East Link team on the project and opportunities that awaited. This was followed by in-person interviews.

THE OUTCOME

50 candidates were interviewed, of which 15 were hired. The partnership with NexVentur is ongoing and the North East Link continues to benefit from our Irish and UK candidates.

CASE STUDY - Snowy 2.0

THE PROJECT

Snowy 2.0 is the largest renewable energy project and is expected to create around 4,000 direct jobs in the region and thousands more in supply-chain and service roles. The Snowy resourcing team had scoured the Australian market for skilled workers and were still coming up short. They needed to explore alternative avenues and markets off shore.

HIRING REQUIREMENTS

With our specialist knowledge of the UK and Irish construction market and unique relocation solution that was attracting top quality candidates, NexVentur was the obvious answer. Snowy was able to tap directly into our quality UK and Irish candidates with experience in the key areas of expertise they were looking for:

THE SOLUTION

To facilitate this, NexVentur hosted a weeklong interview series in the UK and Ireland. During this time, the visiting Snowy team could personally meet and interview a shortlist of top candidates that fulfilled their requirements.

Powered by a marketing campaign that included paid media and content marketing, our recruiters received thousands of applicants. These were screened, shortlisted and only the cream of the crop were submitted to the Snowy team for review.

Weekly feedback sessions kept the process moving forwards smoothly. References were pre-checked so that only hire-ready candidates were presented at interviews.

THE OUTCOME

The quality and preparedness of the Irish and UK candidates that NexVentur presented to interview resulted in more than 20 hires with a view to a second campaign in the near future.
