“Civic Formation is Working” Sustainable development - a model for further education
Since 2006 Nordic Network for Adult Learning (NVL) has had education for sustainable development on the agenda. Series of seminars have combined educational inputs, practical examples and interactive dialogue. As a following up a Nordic cross sectorial group, has discussed what kind of approach is necessary to get changes in our mindsets and behavior. The result is the development of a Nordic, cross sectorial further education which will be tested in terms of a pilot. The philosophy behind our model is that knowledge together with the awareness of successful examples will be an eye opener for the possibilities which lies in a sustainable living. The Pilot emphasis learning geared towards high level of knowledge combined with practical action. The aim is to build bridges between formal education institutions, local administrations and civil society organizations; assisting both formal and informal learning arenas to learn from the inspiring local examples. The target group is pedagogues engaged in sustainable development and adult learning.
