Q. WE ARE SO FASCINATED ABOUT YOUR LIFE AND BUSINESS JOURNEY. HOW DID YOU GET HERE — WHO IS KARI RUSSELL? WHEN DID YOU FIRST IDENTIFY YOUR CONNECTION TO SOURCE/ SPIRIT, AND ATTUNE TO YOUR CHANNEL? AND HOW DID YOU DEEPEN YOUR SELF-EXPRESSION? It’s so funny. Whenever somebody asks me this question, I feel like I don’t have a scripted response. I feel like I’m a different person daily. The mantra that I live by is, “I’m not who I was yesterday, I’m not who I will be tomorrow, but who I am right now is enough.” And so, I would say, Who am I? I’m an ever-evolving, deeply desiring to be expanded individual, who really wants to not lead a revolution but lead women and individuals back to their own inner authentic expression. You know, we are so inundated with what everyone is doing and how everyone is moving. We spend so much time on social media and we get glimpses into everyone’s expression all the time… so it’s easy to be swayed in different directions and we lose track of our own path, we lose track of our own intuition.

I call myself an energetic business coach because I love working with entrepreneurs, I love working with business owners, I love working with individuals who have a massive impact to make in the world. There’s a level of courage and bravery that is automatically present when you decide you’re going to start a business… or a movement… or write a book, or start a podcast. There is a level of audacity that is required to put yourself out there and claim your space. When you start your brand, business, movement, I know that you’re a leader of courage, you’re a leader of bravery because not everyone is willing to put their heart and soul on the line. I love to guide people into leaning into what I’ve coined ‘conscious discomfort’ because we have to be willing to get uncomfortable, and we have to be willing to get excited about the discomfort knowing the growth, the impact, the evolution, the expansion, that’s on the other side of it. So I help leaders in business step into their edges and completely strip back all the story so that they can expose and express and most importantly own, who the f*** they are in this world and what they’re here to do and how they’re here to leave a legacy.

Q. WHAT PROMPTED YOU TO STEP OUT OF A COMFORTABLE EXPRESSION AND INTO YOUR EDGE? I love this question! When I look back on my childhood, I’ve always wanted to be the center of attention. I always wanted the camera on me. When I look back on family videos, it’s like Kari trying to steal the spotlight… Kari trying to come in and jump into the frame. My sisters and I would make up little skits and I would do my sister’s hair and her makeup and I would do my hair and my makeup.

So self expression was and has always been a part of me.

However, once I hit puberty, I developed a lot of body insecurity. I hit puberty really round, full face cystic acne.

I was the first girl in my class to cross these milestones. I literally look like a woman in grade four. So as much as I wanted to stand out, I also wanted to fit in with everyone else in my grade. As I grew older, I found my expression shifting more from what I wanted to share… to what’s going to allow me to fit in… to make friends easily… to belong with the community. My desire to build a deep connection with people has always been present, but it came through in a misaligned way as a child and young adult.

When I found human design and I saw who I actually was… it was one of those lifechanging, eye-opening moments. Like holy crap… all the s*** that I’ve been through, makes sense. I know why I feel the way I feel. I know why I react the way I react and know why I do what I do because of all the conditioning that I experienced.

The awareness that human design brought about – the deeper mindset, the deeper emotional intelligence, that deeper self expression work – is what took me from being the one who looks around at what everyone else is doing and shifting that gaze inward to: Who am I? What do I love? How do I communicate?

At this time, I already had Addi – she was a little girl at the time. And being a mom also was an awakening that made me feel, “If I’m gonna be this little girl’s number one role model and example of being a powerful being – someone that she looks up to, and wants to be like… then how do I want to show up? What do I want her to experience in her body, in her relationships, at school, everywhere? I realized that I want to be the person, leader, and mama that I am proud of and Addie is proud of looking up to.

So me getting out of my comfortable expression was a combination of these things, including starting my business.

Q. THAT JUST TOUCHED MY HEARTSTRINGS. SUCH POWERFUL INITIATIONS, KARI. I VIEW SELF-EXPRESSION AS A STRIPPING OF LAYERS AND LAYERS OF OUTFITS THAT WE THOUGHT WE “SHOULD” WEAR UNTIL WE HAVE NOTHING LEFT BUT OUR OWN BARE NAKED EXPRESSION OF OUR SOUL. HOW DID YOU SHIFT OUT OF THE FEAR AND IMPOSTOR SYNDROME THAT COMES ABOUT AS YOU STEP DEEPER INTO YOUR LEADERSHIP AND EXPRESSION? Until I started my business, I didn’t realize just how much fear I was holding onto. Fear of what other people thought of me, and how other people were gonna take my work.

I was already leading Goals and Grapes workshops when I was working at lululemon for years. I was their resident goal coach – so I got to mentor, coach, and lead our team through various workshops. However, when I decided to start doing this as a business, I actually canceled my first non-store workshop like three times because I would get sick.

But I realized it was my fear manifesting itself like an illness. For instance, I would get a migraine the night before or wake up with a sore throat. My illnesses would stop me from going forward with the workshop. I realized it wasn’t actually the illnesses, it was me. It was my fear manifesting. I was petrified of bringing the work out into the world. Since then, it’s been a big journey of stripping back more conditioning and letting go of the focus of what everyone else is doing and really focusing on me, giving myself the permission to be self-obsessed to be self-absorbed to be self-centered.

In this work of self-expression, we see everyone’s expression and I love your analogy that we’re putting on clothes, taking on layers. And in order to figure out who we are, we actually need to put up our blinders, take the layers off. We have to figure out what we want to wear, what feels good to us, what feels exciting to us. I feel that that way we express ourselves is an ever evolving journey. I don’t feel like we are ever actually fully SELF-EXPRESSED because in every moment, there’s a new layer that could be potentially unlocked, there’s a new experience that we could have, there’s a new breakthrough.

So I feel like we are only momentarily fully SELFEXPRESSED. And then there’s always a deeper layer to step into.

Q. OOF. NOW THAT IS A QUOTABLE. I LOVE THAT! I’D LOVE TO EXPLORE HOW WE CAN JOURNEY FROM INAUTHENTICITY TO BECOMING OUR AUTHENTIC SELF. WHAT DID THIS LOOK LIKE? I think our journey from misalignment to alignment is actually part of our learning – an initiation into our self-expression journey. Sometimes we don’t know what’s right for us until we know what’s wrong for us. And I think in this work, we have to examine where we are actually shaming ourselves and putting more self judgment on ourselves because of our past experiences.

I feel like whenever we find ourselves in a moment of, “Holy crap, I was being inauthentic or I was out of integrity or I misaligned,” our instinct is to make ourselves feel bad or wrong for that process. But I really feel we had to experience that for a reason. We were given the gift of misalignment. We were given the gift of inauthenticity. We were given the gift of the awareness that we’ve somebody else’s jeans or outfit on so that we can reflect and then ask ourselves, “Is this really me? Do I want to lead/ be/ show up / express myself like this? This is a lifelong journey of evolution and expression.

Q. KARI, I LOVE THAT. I LOVE THAT SO MUCH SO I’M THINKING LIKE THE READERS OF THIS MAGAZINE. THEY’RE ENTREPRENEURS AND HIGHLY SPIRITUAL AND CREATIVE. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY TO SOMEONE WHO IS DIPPING THEIR TOE INTO THEIR OWN SELF-EXPRESSION AND FINALLY STARTING TO OWN WHO THEY ARE? WHERE COULD THEY START? WHERE DID YOU START? I was kind of hoping you were gonna ask a question like this because I had a realization, a couple, a few months ago. It was very much an intuitive nudge to step into this deeper layer of self-expression.

And I remember, the moment I was sitting in my hot tub and the word ‘audacity’. I had never used the word, it was not a word that was frequent in my vocabulary. But I continued to hear the ‘audacity’ in my right ear. And it spurred a whole expansion. For me. For my brand and my expression. It was supposed to be a mastermind and then it launched into Wildly Audacious – my podcast… and then wildly audacious very much became a term that I would use in my business and my brand.

Looking back, had I not been cultivating those moments of silence to myself… in my hot tub… staying open to nudges from Spirit… I wouldn’t have heard ‘audacity’ – the word that ignited the deepening of my self expression.

For me, it’s important to pay attention to the signs, listen to the intuition within. Give them space to breathe so you can pick up on the true intuitive knowing that you are meant to receive from having this awareness.

Stop scrolling. Start unplugging and listening to your soul. Stop looking for inspiration outside yourself. Stop looking at how everyone else is building their business.

Stop looking at the “top five tips” and “three things to avoid” because it contributes to the rules that we think we need to follow while we are building our brands and businesses. Give yourself permission to be selfish, selfcentered. Ask yourself what you really want. What do you like? What do you want to be known for? Who are your people? What is the energy that you want to share with your community? If you were to die tomorrow, what is the legacy and message that you want to have written in the sands of time that links it back to you?

I stand for self-knowership – know yourself deeply. Spend copious amounts of time with yourself. Understand who you are through human design or astrology, or other other modalities such as yoga, breathwork, prayer, meditation, and other somatic practices. Give yourself permission to be selfish in your self-knowership so that you can then express unapologetically in your self-ownership of who you are in your self-expression.

Q. TALK ABOUT MIC DROP MOMENTS. I AM IN DEEP GRATITUDE THAT WE GET TO RIFF ON THESE TOPICS BECAUSE THE COLLECTIVE NEEDS THIS RIGHT NOW. I’D LOVE TO EXPLORE SOMETHING THAT I’VE SEEN YOU SHARE DEEPLY ABOUT – READING ROMANCE NOVELS, FICTION, BEACH READS AND THE RESONANCE BETWEEN THAT AND ALLOWING SPACE FOR YOUR DESIRES TO UNFOLD? WHAT IS THE LINK BETWEEN THAT AND UNINHIBITED SELF EXPRESSION? I found this linkage by accident. It happened intuitively.

I was led to a specific author last summer around the time that my Nana who was 100 years old passed away.

It was an unexpectedly hard time for me. She was in a nursing home, she lived a great life, and so her death wasn’t unexpected, we knew her time was coming to an end. However, the speed at which the last four to six weeks of her life happened was sudden. She was gone.

It was a shock to the system, even though I knew it was coming. So in order to avoid processing the emotions and dealing with the bigness of her presence (calling myself out here) no longer being in my life, I turned to reading. It was a comfort to my soul. So I started binge reading one specific author –every single one of her books. I continued to read non stop and it was through reading her books – which are spicy and very descriptive – I realized how uncomfortable I felt while I was reading them, I was feeling embarrassment. I thought to myself, Nobody can know that I’m reading these books.

There was so much shame and self-judgment – where I’d read and judge the characters, and then think… How can people like this s***? I was very much triggered while I was reading these books. And then I discovered that one of my sisters was reading these exact books too and it was like a slap across the face. And here I am thinking this is my dirty little secret. This was around the same time that I found Booktok on Tiktok and everyone was talking about these books. Can you imagine! There’s actually a community of women and men – lots of them – who read these books. And so that felt like a massive relief and permission slip to dive deeper. I started reading more and really led myself through the conscious discomfort. I kept picking up books that I knew were gonna be triggering to me. I knew that they were going to be triggering me. I

knew that they were going to elicit thoughts, beliefs, and feelings that I hadn’t yet examined. And so, in reading these dark romances where the topics in the book are very morally gray, taboo and highly toxic – I started examining my own sensual expression. I started asking myself, “Where have I stifled my own expression of sensuality and sexuality (the relationship I have with my physical body)?

I am a sacral authority in human design, and I found such deep connections to the sacral center for both defined and undefined. The sacral is connected to our sexual desire, our pleasure, and joy. For me, understanding how that relationship impacts my relationship with my husband, when I step in front of a camera for a photo shoot and how I express myself, what I choose to talk about, what I choose to share or not share in my business. As a result, I was experiencing such massive growth in my own expression, evolution, so when I started sharing about this out loud, it was another edge of expansion. Another moment of conscious discomfort where I kept thinking, “What business coach talks about spicy romance novels?

Am I going to be the one? Can I be okay with people thinking, ‘What the f*** is Kari doing?’ Why is she talking about romance novels and what does that have anything to do with business?

It was an evolution that I was extremely passionate about – it was benefitting not only me, but my relationships, my business, my conversations with my clients. It was bringing a deeper healing for everyone. That is how the S-ex Talk (Self-Expression) series was born and the Tryst (Spicy Romance Book Club) came about. These are conversations where we go deep. This isn’t something you will find at a Starbucks. This is us bringing up the old beliefs and conditioning, and saying, I want you to confront the Iyou to confront the s*** that’s holding back your self expression. That is what we unlock in these conversations.

Q. THANK YOU FOR SHARING THAT WITH US SO OPENLY! WE ALL KNOW WHAT WE’RE DOING THIS MONTH (RUNS AND GRABS A ROMANCE NOVEL)! I LOVE THAT SO MUCH. I REMEMBER SEEING YOUR PROMO FOR TRYST AND S-EX SERIES… I THOUGHT TO MYSELF, THIS IS BRILLANT. IT’S GENIUS. So speaking of self-expression, one of the ways in which I noticed you distinguish yourself from the noise and the majority is by your use of one word titles for your programs, a play on words and word-puns. And I am a huge word-nerd! I think you were one of the first people that was actually using different words to convey the meaning and essence of your programs. And I love it because I think business and marketing are a symbiotic relationship. I equate marketing to sex… S-Ex.. selfexpression. Your people want to be enticed by you, they don’t want to get bored and they want to be peaked and agitated or activated enough to make their moves. Can you share a bit about that?

I’m so glad you said that because that’s exactly where I love to strategically leverage my authentic expression and powerfully communicate what it’s like to play in my world. I use these words because I want them to sting.

I want you to feel something. I am a huge word geek and I love using words to convey big emotion. It’s my way of creating that visceral ignition through the words and…through my marketing. Thank you for saying that and acknowledging that because it’s something that I’m very conscious of inside of my branding and marketing because I want you to feel me. I don’t care if you get me, I don’t care if you understand me. I want you to f****** feel me.

Q. MMM I FEEL THIS DEEPLY. IT’S AN INITIATION. YOU GET TO SHOW UP AND BE THAT LIGHTHOUSE THAT CONTINUES TO SHINE AND EXPRESS THEMSELVES. I WANT TO SHIFT GEARS A BIT… AS SELF-EXPRESSION AND AN ENERGETIC BUSINESS COACH WHO USES HUMAN DESIGN AS YOUR MODALITY OF CHOICE, HAVE YOU WITNESSED PEOPLE ALMOST INHIBIT THEIR EXPRESSION BECAUSE OF THEIR HUMAN DESIGN?

100%. This is where there needs to be a bridge between the information that people are learning about human design with the mindset, the emotional intelligence, the somatic activation and the deeper awareness. Human design is for us to feel liberated, to be free in who we are.

But the human in a lot of us holds onto a lot of fears, limiting beliefs, past trauma and conditioning.

I see a lot of people latch on to the limitations that they have created within human design. For eg: Projectors thinking they cannot take on another project because they need to rest. It is their fear of being misaligned. Or if you’re a generator and you’re thinking, If it’s not a full hell yes, I am not doing it. Let’s keep it real, there are things I don’t like doing, nobody does, but we gotta do them in our business and our life. I don’t like doing laundry, but I gotta do laundry. Use the information that Human Design gives you to inform you and help you get into alignment.

Embody it in your lived experience. Allow it to expand you. You get to choose what parts of it you want to take with you regardless of what the human design textbooks and experts say. The only one who is an expert on you… is you. And as you go through your alignment process, you will discern between what is for you and what isn’t.

Q. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SPEAKING TO THAT! I LOVE THIS – HUMAN DESIGN GETS TO BE YOUR EXPANSION, NOT YOUR LIMITATION. ON THAT NOTE, I’D LOVE TO SHIFT THE CONVERSATION A BIT TOWARD WHAT YOU FORESEE HAPPENING WITH SELF-EXPRESSION FOR BUSINESSES AND PERSONAL BRANDS RIGHT NOW? Hmmm what I have felt in my expression and in my clients expression, and what I see online is that we went through this wave of expression. At first, when I think back to four or five years ago, everyone was real, raw, with zero intentionality in their business and brand.

And then we transitioned into a period of very high intentionality, highly curated, where our magic was killed, our creativity stifled. All because we are wondering if it looks good on our feed.

And I now feel like we are in a void, finding our footing, our middle ground between the two. I feel there is a place for both. I’ve really stepped into this - I don’t want to have to choose to be this pretty, perfect, polished, packaged version of myself and neither should you. I want to see all of you – the badass bold leader in the industry, the low key mom bun with sweats and a hoodie, the sappy lovey human being, the hype woman and bestie, the femme fatale, the biker chick, the book nerd, the hippie, the goddess, the garden nerd, the loving partner and mother.

I want to see all sides of your expression. Your identities don’t need to duel for attention. They all get to be seen.

They all get to be celebrated.

Shaming and stifling any one side of you isn’t going to bring you liberation. Give yourself permission to be messy, real, raw, and show up deeply in each moment with intentionality. We still get to be precise and potent in our branding and in our business, but not at the expense of stifling another identity that wants to be seen.

Q. POWERFUL. YES – TO ALL OF THIS. IF YOU HAD TO SAY SOMETHING TO THAT YOUNGER VERSION OF YOURSELF – IN LIFE AND BUSINESS – WHAT WOULD THAT BE? Mm-hmm. I would say…zoom out. I mean it. Zoom out and stop focusing on the scenarios, the circumstance, the situations and look at everything from an eagle eye view. Don’t be so hyper focused on your insecurities or on what isn’t working. Open yourself up to everything.

Look for the gold in your experience instead of shaming yourself or judging yourself. Zoom out. Nobody cares that you had a typo in your email… nobody cares about your thighs or the pimple on your forehead. Zoom out.

Gain that perspective.

Ooh, yes! There is a next level edge coming for me very soon in my brand. There is a conversation I am having in the next few weeks where you will see a lot of contradictions in my content (from what I’ve shown and said before). There has been a lot of internal identity work going on behind the scenes of the last, like four or five weeks in my world. So in the immediate future, bringing this new identity conversation to the forefront is a current edge to me.

In terms of what my next edge feels like in the bigger picture? I see myself standing on stages. I see books. I see deeper client connection in my spaces. I see more sexual expression and healing with my own self and body. So I am really being receptive and open to the nudges toward these things. Every day is an invitation to deepen my edge with my self expression.

SHADOW WERK WITH YOUR DREAMS

Whether or not you remember your dreams, I assure you that you dream every single night. When your consciousness leaves your body after you fall asleep, it heads into the astral realms and you have a dream experience.

Because of this, you’re able to have a front row seat into what’s going on in your subconscious, or the parts of you that you’re not always aware of. That’s why your dreams are such a valuable tool in Shadow Work, because they show you the truths that you may not be able to conclude on your own with your mind while you’re awake.

If you’d like to add this powerful tool to your Shadow Werk toolbox, I’ll teach you how to use it! The quick and dirty, step by step version, of course. ;)

BUT FIRST: WHAT ACTUALLY ARE DREAMS? Like I said above, you leave your body every night and head to the astral realms. There are many ways to explore these astral realms, but for the purposes of Shadow Werk and developing your intuition, your dreams are a window into your subconscious.

There are huge amounts of symbolism, metaphor, and even literal information held within your dreams. The spiritual and non-physical realms make up the majority of the Universe, while your physical body and material experience only makes up a small percentage of reality.

With this understanding, you can conclude that your dreams are almost more true, or at least more honest than your waking life. The more Shadow Werk you do and the more you understand your dreams, this will start to shift. You’ll start to live more honestly and more true to who you really are in your waking life the more you use your dreams to assess what’s going on in your subconscious.

Your subconscious is basically all the parts of your operating system that you’re not fully aware of. The parts of you “in shadow” that still have the power to call the shots and co-create your reality. These are the memories and experiences that you have had that you don’t consciously remember, or don’t fully remember. These are your beliefs both limiting and supportive. Once you become aware of an aspect of your subconscious, it becomes conscious. Once you shine a light into the darkness and either embrace or heal what you see, you begin to have more conscious control over what you’re manifesting and bringing into your reality.

It’s so valuable and important to remember your dreams and take them seriously as clues for what’s going on with you. Dreams are a function of your clairvoyance, so that means that they’re metaphorical, symbolic, and sometimes literal. I’m definitely not saying to take your dreams literally or as prophecy, though some dreams may be just that.

For the purposes of Shadow Werk and developing your intuition, we’re going to operate on the premise that all of your dreams are mostly symbolic and slightly literal when it comes to things that you’ve faced or are facing in your life. Your dreams are your higher self trying to give you a leg up by showing you exactly what your problems are; the things that are holding you back.

Our dreams can be so “blunt” at times so it can be tough to accept responsibility for what you’re seeing. It can be very easy and even seductive to feel like you’re a victim in your dreams. I assure you that you’re co-creating your entire dream, and that everyone and everything that you encounter in your dreams is another aspect of you.

We’re going to operate from the premise that your dreams are just you exploring yourself. No one is coming to harm you. It’s only you, attacking yourself, by creating a reality in which you feel attacked. Your dreams are all about you and your true feelings about people and things.

How to Recall & Decode Your Dreams (in 5 steps) 1. INTENTION

The first step in recalling your dreams is the easiest one, setting the intention before you go to sleep.

Before you go to sleep, write yourself a reminder on a sticky note that you leave by your bed where you can easily see it. Set your intention to have a meaningful dream, and to remember it when you wake up.

So it’s really a two-part intention. Part one is to set the intention to have a meaningful dream; maybe to give you insight on what you’re going through right now, or maybe just generally to let you know what’s going on with you. Part two is to set the intention to actually remember the dream when you wake up.

Many times we have long and involved dreams, and then immediately upon waking up it slips away. Step two will help you hold on to your dream.

2. RECORD

Once you’ve set your intention, and have had the dream, it’s important to record the dream as close to immediately upon waking as you can. You can keep a journal next to your bed to quickly jot down a few bullet points that you remember; this will help you flesh out the dream once you’re more awake and can fill in the blanks.

I’m not going to recommend that you keep your phone next to your bed, but if you do you can also record a voice note immediately upon waking detailing all of the things you remember from your dream. Even if you get into the habit of running through the major bullet points of your dream in your head before you wake up, this is going to help you find themes and symbols and patterns that you can then apply meaning to and use to get your answers. Once you’ve recorded your dream, it’s time for review.

3. REVIEW

Review the bullet points that you’ve written down or the voice note that you’ve recorded on your phone.

Add any details that you remember as you jog your memory with your bullet points. You may already start seeing some patterns, symbols or themes popping out. In this step it’s important to write down any common symbols or aspects of your dream that you could use to apply meaning to. I’ll give you some ideas on common symbols once we get through step four, which is to develop your own dream symbols.

4. YOUR SYMBOLS

This is super important, because your dream symbols will be directly related to your life, and the ways in which you understand the world. Spirit will always speak your language, so that you can easily understand. What this means is: whatever your interests are, whatever pop culture references you enjoy or resonate with, whatever music or movie themes or artists or actors you are familiar with will be the things that appear in your dreams.

This also includes favorite colors or animals. It’s important to develop your own dream symbols so that you can accurately assess what is happening in your dream, and what it means. Dream symbol books are useful when you’re first starting out, but you have to remember that the symbols in those books are the dream symbols of the person who wrote the book.

They may have different interests and pop culture references and ways in which they understand the world, so their dream symbols may not be totally accurate for you, your dreams, and your life.

COLORS

All colors have a psychological and emotional meaning. Many times when you’re first starting to recall your dreams, colors are easy to remember. You can even set the intention to remember a certain most important color before falling asleep. Colors do have psychological meanings as I mentioned, and they also correspond with the chakras. It would be helpful to write down in your dream journal all of the colors of the rainbow, as well as brown black and white, and then write your associated meaning with those colors.

FEELINGS

This one will definitely come up in your dreams, especially if you’re primarily clairsentient or identify as an empath. Sometimes this will be the only part of a dream you remember. Pay attention to the feelings you experience in the dream, and give attention to the overall feeling you had in the dream. These feelings will point to clues that tell you what’s going on in your subconscious, and what could be blocking you.

ANIMALS

Animals are an important part of our human life, so of course they’re going to show up in your dreams.

Some people, like me, are really into spirit animals and animal totems. f you ever have an animal show up in your dream, you can look up what that animal means spiritually and symbolically, and this will give you more answers and ways to apply meaning to your dream.

As you put more intention and focus on your dreams and dreamwork, you’ll start to see common symbols repeating and showing up for you. Now I’ll share some common dream symbols that you can look out for and begin to make your own meaning for them.

This one is layered and also very important. There will always be people in your dreams, and it’s important to start noticing which people show up in your dreams and what feelings you may associate with those people. It could be people that you know or knew in the past, and those people could literally represent the person they’re showing up as, or they could represent a theme or aspect of you and traits or limiting beliefs you’ve taken on as a result of your relationship with them. As you’re doing your dream recording and reviewing, write down any people you recognize in your dream, and what those people mean to you. This will give you huge insight.

The places you encounter (or are in) during your dream are another important symbol to pay attention to. Oftentimes, the places we encounter in our dreams are made up places that are an amalgamation of places we’ve been, places we’ve seen in movies, or even places we wish we could go. Think of the place you’re in during your dream as the “container” for the dream. What are your surroundings? Are they cluttered or clear, are you inside or outside, are you in your childhood home or a haunted house? The location of your dream is significant and will help you apply meaning.

Now that you’re more familiar with common symbols, and are starting to create the practice of intending, recording, and reviewing your dreams, you’ll be able to use that information to apply meaning to your day-to-day life. Many people second-guess themselves and get tripped up when it comes to applying meaning to their dreams or their intuition, since your dreams are a function of your intuition it is important to move forward confidently with the understanding that you are developing your intuition, it’s getting stronger every day, and that deep down you always know: what’s going on with you, what’s best for you, and how to move forward, even if it scares you.

UNLOCKING YOUR FULL POTENTIAL THROUGH THE TRANSFORMATIVE JOURNEY OF SELF LOVE

In today’s world, the external pressures of societal expectations and social media can make it easy to lose sight of one’s true self. It can be challenging to understand and embrace our authentic selves, let alone love and accept ourselves unconditionally.

The journey of self-love is imperative for us to escape this trap and become aligned with our highest self. It is a powerful and transformative experience that can provide opportunities for healing, growth, authenticity, and alignment with the mind, body, and spirit. Furthermore, this journey can ultimately lead us to greater selfawareness, confidence, and liberation.

When we love ourselves, we open ourselves up to the possibility of becoming more attuned to our higher self. Our higher self possesses a broader perspective and is capable of seeing beyond our limited human perception. Although time is not linear, our inner voice or higher self can guide us toward the right decisions, even if we are uncertain of where those decisions may lead us.

The key is to trust our inner voice and enjoy the journey without worrying about the destination.

The reason why most people have trouble manifesting their desires is their misalignment with themselves, and their fear of listening to their inner voice. Alignment with oneself is the key to successful manifestation. We have the power to accomplish anything on this earth, but most people have been conditioned to believe

that they cannot. This limiting belief system can be debilitating, preventing us from reaching our full potential.

We must recognize that we are spiritual beings having a human experience, and through our eyes in this human form, we are not able to see the trajectory of our lives. However, by embracing our true selves and listening to our inner voice, we can unlock our full potential and achieve our dreams.

The foundation of embracing our authentic selves lies in self-love. While many individuals believe they love themselves, self-love goes much deeper than just ticking off boxes on a checklist. It is a journey of complete liberation and understanding.

The journey of self-love requires shadow work, which involves being vulnerable and honest with ourselves. Shadow work invites us to confront our ego, face our fears, insecurities, and past traumas. To align with your higher self, shadow work is necessary. Shadow work is an invitation to peel back the layers imprinted on us since childhood, question everything about ourselves, and determine why we believe what we believe or do what we do.

We must understand whether our actions align with our core values or if we are seeking external validation based on societal beliefs and pressures. Individuals often live for external validation without realizing it. For example, they may choose a career path because it pays well, or it makes their parents proud or because it is highly respected within society. However, living authentically means choosing a path that aligns with the individual’s core values, regardless of others’ opinions.

Shadow work involves acknowledging our triggers and healing our wounds. We must understand why something triggers us and where it stems from. It requires us to determine which part of ourselves needs healing based on that trigger.

Aligning with our higher self and choosing a path that aligns with our core values, regardless of others’ opinions becomes simpler and feels effortless when we continue to do the inner work to love and embrace our true selves. When we disregard what others think of us or society’s expectations and start living authentically for ourselves, our entire world transforms, and our manifestations pour in faster than we could ever imagine.

The relationship with oneself is complex, constantly changing and evolving, and requires time, patience, and consistent effort. Without knowing oneself on a deep and intimate level, individuals will always seek external validation to fill the void missing within them. The better you know yourself, the better you will understand your world and reality. You will develop a greater sense of self, discover alignment and purpose, and better equip yourself to handle your external world. You will understand that your external world is a direct reflection of your internal state. Peace and love within will reflect peace and love externally as well.

Ultimately, the journey of self-love is imperative in today’s world as it enables individuals to connect with their highest self and live authentically. By embracing self-love, individuals can experience healing, growth, authenticity, and alignment with their mind, body, and spirit. This transformative journey requires shadow work, vulnerability, honesty, and authenticity. Cultivating an authentic relationship with oneself is the most important relationship one can acquire, as it provides individuals with a deeper understanding of their purpose, values, and beliefs. Although the journey of self-love may be challenging and require time and effort, the rewards of this journey are immeasurable.

USING ORACLE & TAROT CARDS TO ILLUMINATE YOUR INNER COMPASS Oracle and Tarot cards are incredibly powerful divination tools that can give you direction, assistance, validation, and comfort along your journey here on Earth. There are endless ways to read cards, so let your inner compass be your guide in this practice, and use the following structure simply as a suggestion! More often than not, you will come to the cards seeking guidance regarding a situation, relationship, idea, or choice you are making. Grab a deck and decide what question you’d like to ask or situation you could use guidance around. Then use the following steps.

1. SETTING UP YOUR SPACE Take a few deep breaths to ground yourself. If you choose, light a candle or incense, play soft music, or set a few crystals nearby. Then say a prayer or incantation asking for protection and to receive messages for the highest and greatest good of all.

You may use the following prayer or create your own. My personal prayer goes like this:

“I draw around me a golden light of protection.

Within this space I call on any beings of the highest vibration and the purest intention to assist in bringing through clear messages. Any energy that is less than that of pure love must leave now. I allow my body to be used as a vessel for communicating messages that are in the highest and greatest good of all concerned. I ask that those receiving these messages, including myself, would find a softened heart and mind in order to fully listen. I offer gratitude for all assistance present today. And so it is.”

2. FOCUS ON THE REASON YOU CAME TO THE CARDS WHILE SHUFFLING Keep the situation, relationship, idea, choice, question, etc. that brought you to the cards in your mind. The best questions seek a deeper understanding of yourself, or how to move through a situation with grace. As you shuffle, you are removing the energy from your last reading, which cleanses the cards. Shuffle for as long as it feels good to you!

3. PULL CARDS AND INTERPRET Simply pull any cards out of the deck that you feel drawn toward. When you flip them over and look at the artwork, notice your first thought or emotion. Your gut instinct is always correct.

Then read each meaning from the guidebook, while allowing your own intuitive downloads to come through.

4. OFFER GRATITUDE When you finish, give thanks for the messages received. You may use the following prayer if you like, or create your own. I like to say:

“I offer up gratitude at this time for all spirits present today, and for the messages that have come through. I ask that in the coming days and weeks, these words would integrate and anchor into my body, mind, and soul to help me move further along my path of evolution.

And so it is.”

5. PROCESS YOUR READING

It is necessary to think through the cards you pulled and what they mean to you. If you choose not to reflect, the messages may not truly help you. This can be done a number of ways, including discussing the reading with a trusted confidante or writing in a journal. If you choose to journal, start by writing down the question you asked or describe the situation you were focusing on, and which cards came up in response. Then process your thoughts and feelings about the reading. This is a powerful practice for self-reflection and gaining deeper selfawareness.

As you work with your cards, you will become more comfortable using them over time! Remember that your own intuition is your supreme guidance, so if you feel a different interpretation comes to mind rather than what is written in your deck’s guidebook, choose that. You are your own greatest source of truth, so always allow a deck’s messages to serve as a suggestion.

THIS MONTH’S CRYSTAL IS

LEPIDOLITE

Sometimes called the “Peace Stone” or “Grandmother Stone” because of its nurturing and calming properties, as well as its ability to jumpstart us with a jolt of life-force energy when feeling down.

Lepidolite is a lilac-gray or rose colored crystal generally found in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, Sweden, Australia, Japan, Russia and the Czech Republic. It was first discovered in 1861 (somewhat later than most other crystals) and was called "liliate" because of its lavender color. Years later, geologists renamed it "lepidolite," from the Greek "lepidos," meaning "scale." This was due to the stone's scaly appearance, caused by the lithium flakes present in its composition. It contains the most lithium of any other material from the earth. Lithium is an extremely light metal and has many uses in high-tech and thus, is highly sought after and mined for extraction (for uses in electrical vehicles, batteries, aircraft parts, appliances).

Some compounds of Lithium are also used to regulate mood and/or mental disorders. Because of this element in Lepidolite, it makes it very powerful for stress-relief and managing anxiety as well as helping with sleep, as it calms your mind and provides relief and serenity.

Lepidolite is one of the most popular crystals used in metaphysical healing of stress and anxiety as it helps with tranquility and balancing the mind and spirit. Our entire chakra column becomes activated and aligned when holding or connecting with this crystal. It has been experienced by many, that if you have a hyperactive child this crystal releases relaxing vibes that may help calm them and can be very useful in children's insomnia, sleepwalking, or night terrors. (Of course use caution when placing crystals in the bedroom out of reach of little ones).

As with all crystals, there are numerous healing properties and ways to work with it in your healing routine. Here are some ways you can use it: MEDITATION: Place Lepidolite directly over your third eye or crown chakra while you meditate. The effects this can have on the mind and body can result in positive attitude change, increased drive, self-confidence, and finding joy within the little things in your life. Many times it will establish a connection between your third-eye crown and heart chakra. You might feel more in touch with the emotions you feel while you are dreaming. You may also notice Lepidolite fine tunes your mental state to pick up on the fine details of symbolic imagery around you as well as having moments of Déjà vu.

SLEEPING SOUNDLY: If you have difficulties falling asleep at night because your mind is spinning or you aren’t able to calm all your thoughts or worries, add a Lepidolite crystal to your bedroom (on your nightstand or under your bed). It can aid in better sleep by calming your mind and turning off your thoughts so you can get to sleep. If you place a small piece of Lepidolite on your forehead and do a short mantra (such as “I sleep soundly, I let go of my anxiety…”) or wanting to release anxiety or worries or a short meditation, it will help release any negative thoughts and feelings that might keep you awake.

WEARING IT: As a piece of jewelry or carrying a piece in your pocket or bra, the tranquil qualities (especially if you hold it) will remind you to take breaths whenever you are feeling anxious or nervous and bring you back to a calm state of being. It balances your emotions and can prevent you from spinning out of control with worries or anxiety.

HOME OR OFFICE: Place this crystal in an area of your home or office where you will see it everyday as a reminder to be present and calm. It will be there for you whenever you want to pick it up and release any anxiety or fear or unrest lessness you may be feeling in your life.

HOW TO CLEANSE AND CHARGE: Since Lepidolite is a powerful crystal that can remove negative feelings and anxiety and stress, it needs to be cleansed and charged regularly. Smudging it with Palo Santo or Sage and then putting it out in the moonlight overnight is the best way. As you smudge the crystal, set positive intentions (what would you like crystal to help you with), pray or chant. Then place the crystal out in the moonlight overnight.

In summary, Lepidolite is a multi-faceted crystal that is great for removing negative feelings, anxiety, stress, balancing your third-eye, heart and crown chakras, connecting with your higher self, stabilizing your emotions, assisting with insomnia, nourishing your heart and sparks over all life joy when feeling down.
