Overview
At Next Gen Men, we speak with young people at their level, lead the way for new kinds of conversations and inspire them to see themselves as leaders of the next generation We most often work with masculine-identifying students in Grades 7-9, but have experience delivering impactful workshops and presentations with diverse student groups and grades.
While these four sessions are the mainstay of our work with students, we regularly design and facilitate sessions related to other topics at the intersections of masculinity in boys’ lives Get in touch at youth@nextgenmen ca to discuss your particular needs and ideas
TheManBox
In this eye-opening workshop, participants discuss the ways in which gender norms, stereotypes and expectations have shaped our ideas of what it means to be a man. We identify the sources of messages that perpetuate the gender binary and explore the ways that ideas about gender in society can change. Participants are empowered to question and challenge the gender norms and stereotypes they experience on an individual and cultural level.
KEY TOPICS
● Gender stereotypes related to masculinity
● Fitting in and peer pressure
ThePyramidofGender-Based Violence
In this empowering workshop, participants explore what sexism and misogyny really look like. We explore the connections between joking microaggressions and more harmful forms of violence, and identify ways that we can practice advocacy and allyship when we experience or witness gender-based violence in our everyday lives.

● Sexism and gender equality
● Microaggressions and bystander intervention
TheWebofSupport
In this thought-provoking workshop, participants develop their understanding of mental wellbeing and identify sources of mental health struggles. We discuss healthy and unhealthy strategies for dealing with adversity We de-stigmatize and normalize mental health and illness, and explore why it can be hard for boys to ask for help. Participants learn about the different forms of support they can rely on for help with mental health.
KEY TOPICS
● Mental health and well-being
● Independence and asking for help
ANewRoadmaptoConsent
In this accessible workshop, participants gain a better understanding of consent We use driving as a metaphor to explore the complexities of real relationships and boundaries beyond the acronyms that typically characterize consent education. KEY TOPICS
● Consent and healthy relationships
● Communicating about boundaries
“I wanted to reiterate once again how much impact your two presentations had today The boys were speaking about your messages all throughout the day.”
