Fitrana And Importance Of Zakat In Islam Zakat is one of the five pillars of Islam and is obligatory upon every Muslim who fulfills its criteria. Fitrana is also obligatory to be made at the end of the month of Ramadan and is known as “Zakat-al Fitr�. It is a sign for every Muslim to portray thanks to Allah that they were able to complete the month of fasting.

If a person in a household has people dependent on him, then he is obliged to pay for each individual that is dependent on him. For example, a house has a father, mother, and 4 kids living in it and only the father earns. In this case, the father has to pay fitrana for him and the other 5 residents of the house.
